I don't know what it is, but whenever I come in here. I get ignored by the staff. I was getting cookies and there was an employee stocking shelves next to me. He never said anything the entire time I was standing next to him, reaching by him to get things. It was weird. To blatantly ignore someone standing next to you, when your cart and step ladder are in the way.. Then I go to the service deli to get potato wedges, and I approach the deli and say hi can I get a few handfuls of potato's? I get a heavy sigh, and that was all the communication on the deli workers end. She never said thanks or anything else? I said have a good one and thank you as I left, radio silence on her end.. Does Rays not do a customer service training when hiring employees? Making eye contact and saying hi when you're near someone should be common sense. And also your prices are outrageous why is this? It's not like your Whole Foods or market of choice. I can literally go anywhere else for cheaper groceries. So why are customers paying soooo much more to shop here? As someone who has lived in Jacksonville since the early 90s, it makes me sad to see this store's decline. Quality of food and selections have gone down while the prices continue to go up. For years I have adamantly supported this store, for no other reason than my appreciation of having a grocery store in town. I still miss the old pharmacy and drug store next door as well as many other small businesses that have turned into real estate offices. But today will have been my last visit to our local market. As an older person, I'm not in the minority in this town. And I'm probably not the only 64 year old who has lost a partner to Covid in the past year. So it makes me sad to step into this poorly stocked store and see more than half the customers not wearing masks.... And Ray's not equipping the store with some security or means of enforcing the mask rule. Small businesses on tiny islands can do it in Hawaii, was I really naive to expect the same degree of consideration in my home town. read more

Every time we have visited this location, it's been less that inviting. If you're looking for that small town attitude where you are greeted by friendly & courteous staff, skip this location. It's a cute & quaint store in a cute(but mostly dead) town. It's very overpriced. Not sure why because it's not a convenient store & there are plenty of other grocers just 2 miles away. We don't shop here but would at times stop in when they barbeque tri tips in the parking lot. We stopped Sunday to get 2 Jumbo hotdogs. At $5 each, we expected to get a decent tasting hot dog. They were luke warm & the texture was like a cheap hot dog or pencil eraser. Not hot, not blistering from the grill & not tasty. They went in the trash when we got home. The customer service was worse than the food & left a bad taste in our mouth (the hot dogs were jealous). We ordered inside & the gentleman walked outside to get the dogs. We stood in another line to pay & the same gentleman came up to us in line to hand us our hotdogs. We asked for condiments. He said they didn't have any so we asked if there was said outside, he said "there should be". We spotted some condiments on top of the service deli but it was only relish packets. We went outside to hunt for mustard, ketchup or anything we could slather on the dogs, anticipating a juicy, blistered, smokey Polska Kielbasa hot dog. We looked under the metal tubs & all over the grill area, nothing. We went back inside to the deli where we ordered the dogs & asked if we could get some ketchup & mustard. The lady looked like she did not want to be bothered(like it's them-those peeps again!) & rolled her eyes. The same gentleman said we are out of ketchup but I can get you some mustard. He gave us a small container of mustard to share. This is in a Grocery store...you know where they sell things like.....IDK....KETCHUP!! Lol good grief!! The hot dogs had the texture of a pencil eraser or a cheap, tasteless luke warm hot dog, pretty yucky. $10 bucks for 2 hotdogs in the trash.... don't do it! Go to Costco, much better dogs & deal & you also get a drink! read more

I love the friendly small town feel of this store. The place is clean and well designed. A great place to take the kids for ice cream.

Love coming to this little market when I visit the beautiful historic city of Jacksonville, Oregon. They have a great selection organic produce and fresh meats! Also a very diverse selection of craft beers and wine; including Roxy Ann Pinot Grigio. The manager John is really helpful and will work with you on any special requests or needs. I used to shop here as a kid when this store was under a different owner. Was staying in Jacksonville and stopped in to buy some groceries. Our packaged ham was, well, green so I went back and asked for a refund (a reasonable request imo). The woman at the register made me feel terrible for asking and literally threw the money at me. Guess you can't go home again--I certainly won't be shopping at Ray's with so many other cheaper options in the valley. read more

Hey, you guys...be a little more friendly. I came in and asked for anything that they may have that's "souvenir-ish" from the area. So...don't ask them that question....THEY DON'T. The lady didn't even stop and kindly face me. She just gave me a "drive by don't bother me feel answer". I don't remember being "sluffed off" in a long while.On my way back to Jacksonville I was informed that three employees quit in one day...hmmmm. People usually respond well to so I don't think it was all me. YES...SOMETIMES I LOOK FOR TOURISTY "WHATEVERS".....even though most often I put myself in the "traveler" category and not the tourist section. Staff could be a bit more welcoming and frankly whenever I asked anything of the cashier or staff I was given a sigh or just body language plainly said I was unwelcome. Definitely overpriced but if your stopping there for one or two things, such as drinks or snack, it's definitely nice to have that for locals read more

Okay this place is SPENDY! But they have great sales on certain things. It can be real slow to get someone to the fish counter or sometimes getting checked out. Ray's is your typical neighborhood market - small, expensive, local, but unfortunately convenience wins out sometimes. Their one redeeming quality is that they have great meat specials on occasion, a la 10 lb. bags of ground beef for cheap. This city girl had no clue you could buy beef in such quantity. A very nice kept Rays, great wine selection! Usually stop in for lunch to grab something at the deli and they always give great customer service. The check out lady that is always there when I'm there is maybe in her mid 20's and is a total drag. If she's doing something, she will purposely ignore you till someone calls her up to ring you up. Let me remind you that this is a pretty small store and she's usually around the register. I try to avoid her and her attitude. Other then that, great place to stop in at. read more

I would rather just go to Albertson's, but Ray's is closer to me. The Deli is good. $6.99 for 1 lb of chicken strips, $2.99 for a Teriyaki Chicken bowl. The grocery prices in there are outrageous! $1.79 for a 20 oz soda! They rent movies: 2 DVD's for $5 or 2 Blurays for $8. I would much rather go to Redbox at 7-11 and pay $1.50 per day for a Bluray. Customer service in Ray's is great though so they get 3 stars! read more

Stopped in to have sandwiches. This is the third time in a row where they used hard, dried out bread (French roll) and forgot the lettuce. I would think it woundnt be too hard to remember to put things on a sandwich when they make you fill out a order form and mark everything you want on it and I was the only one there at the deli. They use to make great sandwiches but shortly after it changed from jville market to rays the quality control has gone down hill and prices have gone up. They only reason they didn't get one star from me is because the place does look nice since the remodel. I will continue to shop here when I forget to get something in Medford. read more

The worst deli! Always looks filthy and the smells are never good. Just moved to Jacksonville, very disappointed in its only grocery store.
