There is no lifeguard on duty but there is always some one from the department patrolling for other violations. Talking about violations. NO alcohol/bottles, No animals. Plenty of parking. The sand, grass area, water is clean and well maintained. It does get dirty during peak hours but they do come clean few times a day. This pond is isolated from other water bodies around it. Keeps it little cleaner. Makes it good for scuba diving and there is some fishing as well. The have amazing trail system in the park for cycling and hiking. There is a trail around this pond. If you hike to the back of the pond, there is some water access (private beach). Or a spot to take your girl friend. There are two sand volleyball courts with net. One shed which can be reserved. This park is ideal because it's away from the crowded beaches around the area. Only thing, there could have been more trees in the lawn area for shade and tie your hammock.

They have very nice, newly built play equipment for kids, but it is separated between young children (toddlers) and older kids (up to 12). There is a man-made lake with a sandy beach. It's nice to be able to stop here in the summer for a quick dip without fighting huge crowds. There are some baseball diamonds as well as picnic shelters. My favorite part though is the trail system. They have a well maintained system through the woods and around the lake, and it's never really busy so if you like to take peaceful, quiet hikes this is your place!

My friend and I just wanted some where to float and chat. She repeated like 15 times while we were on the lake.... "I really like this spot". Bathroom were clean and didn't smell any odor - definitely a plus in my book. Please note - recreation passport is required; it's a honor system if you don't have one. The walking trails aren't exhaustive at all, and I was in and out in less than an hour. There are absolutely no amenities. Leave your horse, bike, and kids at home. I've been to a lot of state parks, and this one was unique in its simplicity. It's in the middle of nowhere but only about 10 minutes off of US-127 and worth the quick stop. There is no camping, no definining environmental features, a dirt parking lot, and no restroom.

Two bikers for every hiker. It can get crowded if you aren't hiking alone with bike traffic. Surprisingly not too many bugs even though it rained the day before. TH at the very end of the parking lot. Numerous pavilions, fishing piers, playgrounds, and a small beach. I took a dip in the lake after hiking and it was refreshing, but the shoreline is small and the swimming area doesn't go much deeper than four feet. Water was clear, to the point where I could see a band aid in the sand. On another note, coming from Detroit you will run into construction on HWY 96 (Summer 22) as you near Kensington Park. I had minor delays at 9AM, but on my way back there were massive delays with only one operating lane. Check before you go.

I was a bit baffled when it popped up in my internet search, but it does deliver on the premise: this is an aesthetically interesting and unique water feature that is worth looking at. The area connects with some local trails and has some picnic facilities. A gravel road and parking lot immediately adjoin the falls. The water was not overly clean, and there were bugs aplenty, so be prepared.

Within a few steps you are immersed in Autumn, sorta warm, hint of cold in the air, leaves blowing out of the trees like snow and a fantastic amount of leaves carpeting the ground. All colors - yellow, green, brown, crimson, so beautiful. I was looking for poison ivy - it can be on the trail in bright red, there is a picture at the entrance- but didn't find it. The wind was whooshing around, and you can see the Grand River as you walk into to park. The trail down to the river is step, well marked and slippery with all the leaves. Wear hiking shoes w tread. The trail has fantastic rock formations, erosion of the soft stone plays a critical part in the unique formation, ridges, ledges, springs and seeps, and crevices. The rocks can be slippery and there are roots interspersed in the leaves. It was slow going ... but no falls or slips for me or hubby. If you have kids- help & watch them. We met rock climbers - fun to watch. What skill! Enjoy the pics- but go for yourself! Loved the shirt hike! (In -out loop trail) Open: Dawn to Dusk
