What I like is that the holes are realistic, as opposed to most other courses that turn it into mini-golf. These are putts you will have on a real golf course, so it enables golfers to actually work on their putting and for non-golfers to have a good time as well. The one thing I will caution people about are the inevitable idiots who will play this course. Whether it's a group of six players who take twenty minutes to play a hole because they are God awful and socialize in between putts or the obnoxious drunks who purchase a cooler of beer to play a course that should take you an hour and 15 minutes to play, tops, you can guarantee that there will be plenty of oblivious people playing this course. Fortunately, the golf shop staff is more than accommodating if you have an issue with other groups. Despite the many frustrating rounds I have had out here, you cannot expect the golf staff to know just how ignorant the customers will be, so this is a five-star in my book.

It all started on a smoky, 87 degree Saturday in July when our camping plans got a rain check and we were open for a good time. Big Mini Putt Club was initially discussed but nixed because we weren't feeling the downtown vibe or $12 a person/9 holes. Then, we looked up AJ's mini golf but they had a private event scheduled. Yelp suggested Double Dip and after one ring, the employee on the telephone sold us with $3.50/person for 18 holes and recommended we come before 7p (thanks for the tip!). We parked, watched the first half of England vs. France at Walker Roadhouse and walked right over to the Depot. The course was perfect (no waiting around and lots of shade) for our 4 year old who got her first hole in one on the 15th! The ice cream/cone of ice came out quick (no line either) at 6:30p and we had our choice of picnic tables with umbrellas to enjoy. Overall, great family date night! We rarely frequent the west side, besides for the zoo, but will have to plan another trip before the summer ends. It's a bit dated but its average and serviceable. I'd give it 3 stars but I'm bumping it up 1 because is a stand alone and not some cheap family fun center cookie cutter mini-golf course.

At 71 my balance is not the best so be careful if you're like me. Has a ton of potential. Hope they make it happen.
