Raise your hand everyone who had an overly aggressive salesperson who won't give you a price, or show any kind of pricing guide, and you almost have to call the police to get them out of your home? Not with Overhead Door of Fort Worth, there is a price for average sized doors on their site. So, you can at least guesstimate up front whether you can afford a door right now or not. And they will give you a free estimate. Dealing with Charles Ford, and Gary Tollett, Service Manager and the people at Overhead Door of Fort Worth was delightful. They know their business and have heard it all. We not only got a garage door, but a bunch of features we didn't even know were available in garage doors, like motion sensor light. The install was a delight. Our installer, Erisney and his partner, were friendly, polite and fast. Not only did they do a great job, but they totally cleaned up behind themselves. This is important because a screw in your tire can ruin your new garage door joy. I really can't recommend this company and their product enough. Now that our faith in mankind has been restored, we can start on the inside of the house.

This is a complaint against North Texas Garage Door and Gate company. All of the dates are as…read moreaccurate as I can remember. I went to Home Depot in Burleson and order two garage doors on March 21, 2018. On March 27, 2018, a survey was performed by the installer (North Texas Garage Door and Gate company) per the requirements for the installation. I was informed that my garage doors would arrive from the manufacturer around April 20, 2018. That date came and went and I still had not heard from anyone. I contacted both the installer and Home Depot the following week to get update on the installation. I was finally contacted by Home Depot and was told that the manufacturer had misplaced the order and the doors should be in by May 10, 2018. I never received any update from the installer. Finally in mid May, 2018, I was contacted by the installer to state that the doors were in and to schedule an install date on May 22, 2018. Someone finally arrived and installed the doors on May 22, 2018. Once the install was complete, they informed me that two of the panels arrived from the manufacturer damaged and asked if I wanted two new panels or keep the damaged ones. I informed them that I want new panels. They informed me that they have ordered two more panels. I informed them that the vinyl trim and decorative hardware was not installed. The install tech informed me that he was not provided with the mentioned items and that they would be installed when the new panels were installed. After the tech left I did a through inspection of the doors and found the following issues. 1. One of the screws used to secure the rails to the wall was not screwed into a stud, but just screwed into the sheetrock. 2. One of the torsion springs for one of the doors was not properly adjusted and would not allow one of the doors to raise as high as necessary without the cable coming loose. 3. Both of the top rails on both doors was spaced too far apart and caused the doors to almost fall. 4. Both the vinyl trim and decorative hardware were not available for the installer to install them. I called the owner and requested that he come out and fix these issues. He stated the he would be by on or around June 1, 2018. They called me after 5 pm on the that date and said that they could not make it, because the holiday had put them behind. He came out the next week and corrected one rail on one door. I agreed to let him fix the other issues when he replaced the other panels. I also informed him of the missing items. I never received any update from the installer on the status of the new panels. Home Depot finally contacted me and I told them that I have not heard from the installer. Finally in late June I was contacted by the installer and they said the panels were in and that they would be by around June 29th to install the panels. This was after Home Depot contacted me about the install and I told them that they have not contacted me. They never arrived on that date, I was contacted by the installer late on that date and was told that they would have to reschedule for the following week. They did not contact me the following week. I was contacted by Home Depot to see if I had been contacted about the install for the panels, I told them no, I was finally contacted by the installer and was informed that they had scheduled the install for July 12, I informed them that they never contacted me to confirm that date, but that it was ok to install the panels on that date. Home Depot called me back and I confirmed that and install date had been confirmed. They came out on July 12 to install the replacement panels. They corrected almost all of the issues that I pointed out and installed the new panels. When I questioned the owner, who was helping with the install, about my decorative hardware and trim, he stated that he didn't know that I had ordered those items. Isn't it his job to know what was ordered when he goes to install the doors. He stated that he didn't have the trim, and that his tools to install the trim were stolen and it would be two weeks before he could get out to finish the job. I was contacted again by Home Depot to see if they had finished and I told them that they had not. I was contacted again by the installer to arrange on install date for the trim for July 20, 2018. I was contacted by the installer on July 20 and was informed that they cannot make the install date due to the tech had and auto accident. They called me the following week and scheduled an install date for the remaining items for July 26. A different installer arrived, but he only had the trim and hardware for one door. He stated that the owner was out of town and that the office staff only provided him with the items for one door. He installed them and returned 2 days later and finished the install. I am completely and utterly disgusted with the lack of updates and contact I received from the installer. I will never recommend them to anyone.

They explain terminology and common pitfalls and make the process feel clear. Where that education can fall short is when theory meets real-world constraints. Understanding products at a high level doesn't guarantee those choices will translate cleanly once manufacturing begins. The first gap I encountered involved usability. I replaced wood doors with fiberglass doors and assumed hanging blinds would be straightforward. I later learned fiberglass doors with foam cores don't provide the same structural support as solid wood, and traditional blind mounting can be risky unless planned around limited wood blocking. By the time this became clear, the doors were already ordered. Internal blinds would have been the safest solution, but that decision must be made before manufacturing. After raising the issue, I learned internal-blind glass units were available, but only in double pane -- not triple pane -- and without laminated options. I would have been paying to move from triple pane to double pane to solve a usability issue that hadn't been discussed earlier. I declined. The issue wasn't that tradeoffs exist -- it was how late they became visible. Another issue surfaced during installation. An existing storm door was removed, and I learned mid-install it would not be reinstalled. That had not been discussed during sales or measurement. The lesson for me: if something matters, confirm it explicitly before installation begins. Install day is where risk largely shifts to the homeowner. After the crew left, I noticed drywall damage, sealant contacting finished surfaces, debris inside and out, a damaged sprinkler head where materials were staged, and cigarette butts in the yard. Some items were addressed later; others required additional time and expense. The patio door also required adjustment and still does not open and close cleanly. I was told the next step may involve shaving material off the door -- an example of how fixes can escalate once installation is complete. My primary concern for the bedroom patio door was security and sound. Based on that, I was advised to go with triple pane. Living with the result, sound performance has not met my expectations. Laminated glass, which was not discussed during sales, is generally considered superior for both sound and security. After raising concerns, I learned the manufacturer does not publish specific sound performance ratings for its door assemblies. The recommendation appears to have been based on industry convention rather than product-specific testing. When I revisited the issue, the recommendation was affirmed and third-party solutions were suggested. When performance isn't clearly tested or measured, it becomes difficult to know whether the product was the best fit -- or whether the outcome simply falls short. If I were starting over, I would validate real-world usability early, confirm important details in writing, treat the measurement appointment as the last true decision point, ask what is tested versus conventional, and actively inspect install day before the crew leaves.
