the food here was so delicious! We walked here from our hotel. The food is hearty and the staff is welcoming. Even my picky friend loved it. They even gave us a free try of the soup to see if we wanted it. The biscuits were also wonderful. There is a huge beautiful long table where people can sit and share a meal (and some small side tables, too). It was cheap and healthy. Stop in when you're in the area!

Curried lamb wrap

We ordered their curried lamb wrap and thought it was great. Pretty hefty and full of good ingredients like sweet potato and mango salsa. Beautiful space, as well. They have a gorgeous wood communal table, a patio, and serve your meal on a lazy Susan. Employees were friendly and would happily return.

Corn chowder with crab (tad spicy) and side biscuit

This is a decent soup spot. It's somewhat chill vibe hipster to Everyman themed inside. Somewhat beaten up furniture and not a lot of places to sit at this location, but that's part of the charm. Music fits the institution. Service was fine. They bring your food to the table. Nice presentation for the price. Food was good. I had the corn chowder with crab and spice. It was fairly spicy which I like but didn't expect based on the description. It came with a large biscuit that was nice and crumbly with fruit dipping sauce. It would have been nice to had more protein. Price point was good for the quality and quantity. This is not an expensive place. It is soup after all.

Grilled veggie wrap and butternut squash soup

This place is great! Great soups and wraps! I got Ravi's stew which had chicken and a bunch of vegetables in it. It was very flavorful! My husband ordered the grilled veggie wrap and butternut squash soup! The veggie wrap was soooo good! And he loved the soup! Highly recommended and we will be back!

Butternut squash soup with fried shallots and a homemade biscuit! Everything was perfect!

Full disclosure: this review is biased. Meaning: I am a soup person at my very core. I love soup. I can eat it for any meal. It's the thing that gets me through fall, winter, also spring. It is perfect and my love for it is pure and unabashed. Okay, now that we've got that out of the way - this place is great! The soups seem super fresh, and as I was skimming the menu I kept thinking how great the ingredients pairings are in each one. When it came time to order, I decided on butternut squash with pear and fried shallots, and it was packed with flavor! The portion was huge as well - that bowl means business. And that biscuit that's served with it - gahhh, yes! For $10, I feel you definitely get a full meal. /10, would absolutely go back.

Combo with ravi stew

I like it. They've got wraps, and they've got soups. Order them both as a combo and you save several couple dollars (though the soup is a bit smaller than the stand-alone offering). Wrap is flavorful, soups are hearty. The lamb wraps and chicken wraps were satisfying; not too small, but not too big. The Ravi Stew is just stuffed full of vegetables and chicken; very nice. Chicken hot pot soup was also really good.

Corn chowder and roasted veggies wrap combo

It was a rainy day in town, and I was seriously craving soup. I've heard great things about Ravi's, and since all the other places famous for soup (Soup Nutsy, etc.) were all closed, we decided to trek to Ravi's for a taste. I, naively, thought that the soup and wrap combo came with a full side of soup. Had I known that the soup would be half size (duh...), I would've gone ahead and just ordered soup! The portion of soup I have was by no means filling enough, and I didn't feel wowed by the wrap. I ordered their famous corn chowder and it was DEELISH. You could taste chunks of blue crab in it, and it was a perfect salty spicy mix. The roasted veggies wrap, on the other hand, was mediocre. The veggies were drowning in sauce, and all I could taste was the tomato chutney. My friend ordered the curried apricot lentil soup, and the curried lamb wrap. I tried some of her soup. It was great! The sweet apricot cut through and acted as a great balance to the curry flavour. Didn't get to try her curried lamb wrap, but she said she thoroughly enjoyed it. We both loved the soup, and agreed that next time, we'd order only the soup. The wraps weren't surprising, and the combos definitely not worth the premium. Trust us, order the soup, and you'll get better value for a cheaper price!

Chicken wrap

Value for money is definitely there! It's the perfect spot for a cold winter day as they have amazing wraps and soups on offer. Today I got the chicken wrap, no soup thought as I thought it would be too much for a weekday lunch. My Roasted Free Range Chicken wrap had roasted yams, baby spinach, edamame, caramelized onions, tomato chutney & chipotle mayo. The combination of the yams with onions was delicious! I really liked the chicken too - it tasted fresh out of the oven. I didn't care too much for the edamame myself but it didn't take away from the overall dish. I ended up packing half of the wrap as I don't know how anyone would have had a full wrap. It's quite filling and very delish! :)

Butternut squash soup and veggie wrap.

I got the butternut squash soup and a roasted veggie wrap for a spontaneous lunch before a movie. The atmosphere of the restaurant is nice and they have free wifi which is always a nice commodity! They were very friendly when taking our order and the food was prepared quickly. The food itself was good, the soup was a little spicy from the pepper they used I think, but it was not unbearable as I enjoy spicy but it might catch others who don't like the extra spice off guard. The wrap was very large for the price and was loaded with lots of veggies. Would definitely come back if I'm ever in the area again and craving a comforting soup!

This is a definite recommend place if you're in need of something warm on a cold day. Coming in, the cashier is very courteous and welcoming. The restaurant has a big spacious area inside if you want to dine in, or you can opt for the bar seats by the open window. They have a big selection of soups to choose from, and they offer combos with wraps/sandwiches. The food didn't take too long to arrive, roughly 10 mins. The portions were pretty big, which is great as the price of the combo was roughly $15. The mushroom soup had a very clean taste, and there was big chunks of mushrooms inside. It also had a hint of truffle flavour which gave the soup a very fresh smell/flavour. Ravi's Stew is definitely perfect if you want something with a slight kick as the soul was very flavorful and packed vegetables. We got the combo with the butter chicken wrap and wow, the wrap with stuffed which chicken. I was super full by the end, but I was very satisfied with what I ordered. Next time I'll probably get either the soup or wrap haha.

I was surprised that there was no line on a weekday during lunch time ~12:00, especially since other reviewers made mention of long wait times. I guess I was lucky. Anyway, since there was no line, I got my meal quickly. The soups are waiting in pots at the front, so the service is fast as they just need to scoop up your soup of choice. I got a small soup meal, so I was able to choose 2 sides from a collection of breads and fruits/veggies. I decided to go for the Moroccan Madness Vegetable Medley with sides of a multigrain ciabatta bun and apple. The soup was good, definitely fresh, flavourful, and better than your average canned soup, but I wasn't blown away. Plus, the meal was kind of pricey for what I got. For these reasons I only rated them as 3 stars. However, I'm really only basing my review on one out of many different soup options. Maybe some of the other flavours are better. I would go back to try a different soup.

I've been to other Korean restaurants that don't specialize in gamjatang but they are much much better. Service was really nice and there was a bit of a wait even to get a seat. Food: We ended up with the spicy chicken and stir-fried beef, and both were great. I personally love Sichuan and mala flavours, so this was right up my alley. It actually reminded me of living in Hong Kong, which is where I learned to really appreciate spicy food. I got soy milk with my meal too, which is one of my favourite things to have with Sichuan food. Ambiance: It's a pretty casual spot in Chinatown and was busy when we visited. I came during lunch and there were only a few tables used, but that quickly changed and got so busy someone tried to sit at my table. It's located on Huron street just north of Dundas down a flight of stairs so it's not wheel chair or stroller accessible. I ordered the soup dumplings XLB as well as the fried pork and shrimp chive dumplings. These are the best XLB I've ever had! They were filled with so much soup and the dumpling skin was so thin but held up so nicely. What would take it up a notch would be to offer some freshly julienned ginger to it, I paired it with the black vinegar and don't sleep on the addictive chili oil! I ate it by placing it onto my spoon and taking a small bite on the top then trying a bit of the soup inside the dumpling before adding the black vinegar and chili oil and then taking it all in with one bite. The pan fried dumplings were a bit oily and could've been a tad crispier but they were so flavourful and juicy I didn't mind too much. Place was clean and plenty of seats. I definitely want to come back to try more!

As a result it was soon packed when I came for lunch. This spot is located under a flight of stairs and the interior is relatively plain and old school. The owner was all smiles from the recent buzz, although I felt the meal was overrated for what you get. They're known for handmade dumplings that are made fresh to order with quality ingredients. I ordered both the boiled 12pc Pork, Shrimp & Cabbage dumplings ($14.99) and the 10pc pan fried Chicken, Bamboo & Black Fungus dumplings ($14.99), figuring I might as well try more variety. Orders made to order took about 15 minutes to arrive similar to other diners who waited. You can see the kitchen bustling with activity. The boiled dumplings arrived first, piping hot and plump filled with savoury soup and even a whole shrimp. The chilli oil & bottle vinegar made for a nice dip to coat these dumplings that carried a mild sweet flavour. I can see why this spot is said to be comparable to home cooking. However, I was disappointed to see the pan fried dumpling came not in the elongated-style that others received. The crispy bottom was still good. Skip it or hit it? Food here is reminiscent of simple northern home cooking and there's a 5% cash discount. But $30 for two dumpling plates is relatively steep for a Chinatown basement meal. Hence it's a skip for me next time: nearby buffet is only $18 and a decent AYCE lunch is $30.
