I asked a question about my original cartilage piercing and I was told that the piercer used a barbell that was too short and there was no way for the piercing to swell and heal properly. My earring was changed but I was charged for a new earring, even though they used the wrong one in the first place. A few weeks later I was cleaning the conch piercing and the earring fell out, and because it was a small earring that screwed into the back, it was not easy to put back in myself or with my husband's help. I called Embassy Tattoo to ask if they could put my earring back in for me, and they said they weren't taking jewelry changes that day because they were running a special for only new piercings. When I said it wasn't a new piercing, it was a 3 week old piercing that fell out, they told me it didn't matter and to stop by the next day. I definitely wasn't waiting a day to put a new piercing back into my ear when it was throbbing, swelling, and would definitely close by then. I went to another tattoo shop nearby who, after saying a new piercing should not have been a screw-in earring, changed the earring for one that snapped in. They also took a look at the new piercing and the original cartilage I got at Embassy Tattoo and said both were pierced on an angle which makes it harder to heal (as I've been experiencing over these last few months). While the staff at Embassy Tattoo are great, I don't see myself going back to after this.

The tattoo that I requested was very simple and small, and they could not have executed this more perfectly. Furthermore, this was my first tattoo, and they put my newbie nerves at ease immediately. Pros: Price: The tattoo that I received cost $160 (pre tip). They ask for a deposit of 50% in advance, and then have you pay the rest onsite. I believe that $160 is the minimum price for any tattoo here. Tripp provided me with a quote in advance, per my request, and was very prompt and direct about the pricing as soon as I provided him with an example of what I wanted, which I really appreciated. I initially felt like this price was a bit high, however I called several highly rated tattoo parlors in the area, and this was the lowest price for my simple tattoo. So comparatively, this place checks out, price-wise! I am glad I paid to have it done at Wasteland, as the experience was incredible. Accuracy: The tattoo was executed exactly as I requested-- I couldn't have asked for it to be any more accurate, honestly. It was simple, but I think with simple designs, any flaws are even more visible, in a way? So I was very pleased with how it came out. Friendliness: I had a very pleasant experience here. Banter throughout the tattooing process, I felt like my artist and I were just friends hanging out. There were upbeat R&B oldies playing, which put me right at ease. Pain: Truly painless, to be honest. I was shocked by how little pain I experienced. Honestly, it was reminiscent of a small scratch. Also super quickly completed. Simplicity of booking: Booking this appointment was so easy. I figure that this is partly due to the simplicity of my design, however I was still surprised how quickly they got me in. I was able to secure an appointment within a week of reaching out. When I showed up, they were ready for me, and the entire experience felt very streamlined and efficient. Clean studio: The studio was clean, modern, spacey, and private. The bright colors and upbeat music put me at ease immediately. Masks were worn throughout the process. Instructions on treatment/self care of tattoo: My artist provided me with detailed instructions as to how to care for my tattoo. I asked a lot of beginner, kinda silly questions, but never felt belittled, and felt like I was being taken seriously and really cared for just in the way that my questions were addressed. The care process was honestly very easy, and within a couple of days, I felt that it was pretty much healed up! A super easy and fun process :) Cons: Truly ZERO from me! I am so pleased with my tattoo and impressed with the overall experience offered at Wasteland tattoos. I am recommending to all of my friends in the DC area! Go here! Since I've started going to them, I have not looked to anyone else to take care of my piercings or tattoos. EB is super helpful and thoughtful and has a great eye for piercing anatomy, and EB also takes the time out of super busy days to reply to messages and follow up with aftercare advice. EB from the beginning has been so accommodating with each visit and truly cares about the healing progress of finished work. Tim is such a hard worker and diligent artist and always takes time before/during/afterwards to make sure his projects are top notch. Every time that I see Tim's updated portfolio, my jaw always drops at how his creativity and his style shine, he is truly one of the best artists in the area in my humble opinion. Their work collectively speaks for itself. Additionally, they both take sanitation very seriously as they do not cut any corners in ensuring that their clients are taken care of for peace of mind. They want ID parent (I get that), they want birth certificate (I get that) but now they want a passport or drivers permit. My child doesn't drive. You would think with my ID, my child birth certificate and her school ID would do. They said that their insurance asks for this but as I search on Maryland laws doesn't say anything about this. This is their "business law" which is fine but parents don't take your children here because they won't help you.
