Everyday and Free - Running with a Legend on the Miami Beach sand. 4:00 pm Daylight savings 5:00 pm EST.
On December 31st 2014, Raven will reach the incredible milestone of 40 YEARS running 8 miles everyday on the sands of Miami Beach without ever missing a day. Over 2,000 runners have completed at least one 8 mile run with him.
Typically you will find a group of 5 to 20 runners starting with him on the lifeguard station at 5th street. All levels of running, a few take off ahead of the group, some fall back and most runners stay with Raven at a very relaxed pace.
In order to get a nickname from Raven and an inclusion in his "Raven Run list" a runner must complete the 8 miles, but some build up to it by running less, so if you are planning to visit don't be turned off by the distance. I find it very surprising how fast the time goes by while enjoying the company of others during the run.
For locals the Run is a great way of staying fit while meeting others and enjoying a wonderful run on the beach. For anyone visiting, the Run is also a unique way to enjoy the sun, the beach, the people of South Beach and to hear many interesting and quite a few surprising stories from Raven.
There is also a 1/3 of a mile swim in the Ocean after the Run, which only a few of the runners complete, but I found to be a great way to end the day and get the full Raven Run Experience. read more
