In 2017, the city approved a $6 million renovation, with Calvin, Giordano & Associates as project manager and West 8 leading the redesign. The renovation focused on preserving the park's natural beauty, including large palm trees, sea grapes, and its dune ecosystem, which protects against rising sea levels, while improving both aesthetics and functionality. Today, the park offers beach access with lifeguards on duty and plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the sun. Amenities include outdoor showers, restrooms, a dog park, picnic tables and grills, a sand volleyball court, three rentable picnic pavilions with grills, swings, a playground, and trails with a self-powered outdoor fitness course. Parking is available in the municipal lot on 83rd Street and along Harding Avenue. I especially enjoyed walking the trails--the park is much quieter than nearby South Beach, which you can also reach via the paved 8-mile bike trail. It's a peaceful, well-maintained spot for a day at the beach or an active outdoor outing.

Since it's near the water, you also feel a nice breeze that makes the Miami Heat bearable. The newly addition of the fountain with the water show elevated the space. I also like how it's close to Bayside, Kaseya Center and other parts of downtown; if you want to walk some more or find a place to eat nearby. Parking is also easy to find and affordable. If you want to spend some time outdoors with the family, including your dogs, this is a great place to come.

There are different parking lots around the park, but you do have to pay for parking. We also saw security driving around a couple of times, which made the area feel safe and well monitored. Overall, a really nice place to walk around, enjoy the views, and spend some time outdoors. Would definitely visit again!

I was accepted into Mast Academy, Miami's marine-focused magnet school perched on Virginia Key--the last stop before the bridge drops you into Biscayne's island calm. But even before that, in the late '90s, my summers belonged here thanks to the M.U.S.T. Program through the Miami Museum of Science. We weren't just kids in a classroom; we were explorers, studying the bay itself under the guidance of the legendary marine biologist Alberto Ramirez. Those days--trawling through seagrass beds, learning how the tides shaped everything, watching science come alive in the salt air--remain some of my most precious memories. Ramirez wasn't just a teacher, he was a lighthouse of his own: steady, guiding, and impossible to forget. Key Biscayne's history runs as deep as its waters. The Tequesta people fished these shores centuries before Europeans arrived. Spanish sailors marked the cape on their maps in the 1500s, and in the 1800s, the Cape Florida Lighthouse stood as both beacon and battleground, attacked during the Seminole Wars, burned, rebuilt, and still standing proud at 95 feet tall. In the 20th century, the island was a coconut plantation, then a playground for the wealthy--and later home to Nixon's so-called "Florida White House," where the nation's business was mixed with scandal under the same tropical sun. Cross the Rickenbacker Causeway and Miami's skyline fades behind you. The pace slows. Families pedal beneath seagrape trees, fishermen lean against seawalls telling stories, and kids chase lizards in Crandon Park while pelicans dive for fish. You can take a stroll to the bay to appreciate a marina and the boats as well as beautiful views of the Miami area. You can also jog, bike, push your baby in its stroller, or walk your dog. There are a couple of tall colorful metal sculptures of a giraffe, horse and a bull for kids to climb. All in all it's a nice, quiet park to explore. There are approximately 280+ parks in Miami-Dade county to enjoy.

This is a new three acre community park in Miami Beach between 600-700 Alton Road. It was developed…read moreby TCH 500 Alton, LLC, real estate developers David Martin and Russell Galbut who built the nearby Five Park residential tower. The park was donated to the City of Miami Beach's Parks & Recreation Department as a gift to the residents and visitors of Miami Beach. Canopy Park was designed by ArquitectonicaGEO with sustainability at the forefront. Environmentally conscious features including a Maritime Hammock anchoring the north end of the park which captures carbon and toxins from the air, diminishes the urban heat island effect, and cools the surrounding area. A 25,000-gallon cistern collects rainwater runoff and conserves and manage rainwater while bioswales allow for proper site filtration and management for all of the rainwater that enters the site. There are 40 different plant and tree species that are low maintenance and drought tolerant. The plants not only add beauty to the bark but they also help balance ecosystems, mitigate soil erosion, decrease urban heating effects, provide habitats for threatened animals, and protect watersheds from destructive floods. The park has so many stand out features but one of my favorite was the playground by Danish design firm MONSTRUM which is famous for their playscapes around the world. This is one is special because it pays homage to the OG Miami Beach developer, Carl Fisher. Fisher acquired a baby elephant he named Rosie that he used as a mascot for the area in publicity photos that promoted Miami Beach as a luxury vacation destination in the 1920's. Now Rosie has been recreated in the playground so children can climb up her and slide down. Other unique features of the park include a sculpture by Miami-based artist Mark Handforth, green spaces with native shade trees, paved pathways, seating, an outdoor gym, and a dog run area. In addition to being a place of recreation, Canopy Park serves to connect Miami Beach's South of Fifth neighborhood to the Miami Beach Baywalk via a new signature pedestrian bridge designed by Daniel Buren spanning the MacArthur Causeway/5th Street. This will create a connection to South Pointe Park north to the Lincoln Road District and east to the beachfront. Canopy Park is at the gateway to the City of Miami Beach and is a great ambassador to the city. According to Russell Galbut of TCH 500 Alton, LLC. "We've created a vibrant community asset that brings people together while providing a design experience that rivals public spaces in the world's greatest cities." While I love the park the lack of parking is a real detriment to being able to use it. I have passed it so many times without ever being able to find a place to park. It took coming on a weekend day in a rainstorm to final get a street spot and even then I had to cross busy Alton Road which didn't feel safe. I love Miami Beach but unfortunately Miami Beach's parking doesn't love me back.

She worked with Ernest Coe to have the Everglades named a National Park. Douglas was a tireless champion for the environment and so it seems appropriate that a number of parks have been named in her honor, including this beach park in Miami Beach. The Marjory Stoneman Douglas Ocean Beach Park has a limited number of metered spaces along the street. Parking can be frustrating depending on how busy the park is. It is worth the effort though because the park is a leafy green oasis filled with tall shade trees. As I was walking around I couldn't help but notice the trees were filled with squeaky Monk Parakeets. The centerpiece of the park is an enclosed, large, shade covered playground with poured in place surface surrounded by benches. There are two play sections, one for ages 2-5, and one for ages 5-12. The playground has slides and climbing structures. Other park amenities include a shower, restrooms, and a water fountain. Surrounding the park are large paved paths ideal for walking and biking. The park offers direct beach access and at the perimeter you can pick up an electric City Bike which I think is the best and most fun way to see South Beach and avoid the parking headache. With the playground, beach, and all the other amenities, this is a great place for a family outing.

While the park is a gem, the surrounding area could use some improvement. Hopefully, as the city continues to develop and clean up, Albert Pallot Park will feel even more connected to the rest of the neighborhood. Overall, it's a nice place to visit, especially if you're looking for a quick stop to enjoy the view and take some cool photos. I'd definitely recommend checking it out!
