I must of phoned 50 locksmiths in Washington, Oregon and Texas (the route of my road trip) to get prices on reprogramming my Nissan ignition lock and adding a 2nd key. Skagit locksmith quoted me less than 1/2 the price of the next lowest competitor. When I asked how Dan said "it is a 5 minute job". I was sceptical but took a chance. Turns out my Nissan had been rekeyed at some time so they manually had to figure out the new key code. To be honest many of the locksmiths out there would of charged more for this OR not had the expertise to do it at all. Skagit locksmith was able to figure out my key code, cut and reprogram the key all at the originally quoted low price and have me on my way in 15 minutes. What more can you ask for; great service and quality work at a VERY reasonable price. If I could give these guys 10 stars I would. Been a customer there for years because they were located conveniently. They've always been a bit…read morerude but I overlooked it. Today I was waiting for a parking space to shop next door and then swing by there to copy a key. Since I was shopping elsewhere I didn't want to park in their lot. While I was waiting for a car to pull out of the street door, my bumper was hanging a foot or so into their driveway. No cars were trying to get in. Nobody was being inconvenienced but one of their employees, who was backing out of a spot in their lot decided to get out of his car and tell me to move. He said "you can't park there" to which I replied that I wasn't parked, I was waiting for a guy that was going to pull out. He then tried to incorrectly define for me what "parked" meant and I told him I wasn't harming anyone and I'd be gone shortly. Then he pulled the classic passive-aggressive BS that "customer service" people go to when they know they are wrong: "Ok sir we'll try to have a nicer say...you seem to be really angry" The irony of course is that the guy saying this got out of his car to get mad at me for blocking 1/10th of his driveway. Last straw for these guys. Lots of other locksmiths around that aren't angry and aggressive.

I carted a door into the establishment because a key would not fit in the outside of the deadbolt, but would in the inside. It was easier to take the door in than to remove the lock. The manager waited on me. He worked on the lock for almost an hour. He explained that somebody had tried to use a master key and screwed things up inside. At the end, he sent me on my way, a very satisfied customer, with an extra key and having paid a bill about half of what I thought it would be. I will return.

I have some experience in the building trades and was impressed by what I saw both in the quality of work and by the simple fact that unlike many Contractors/Subs these days, when Spane's crew got started, they didn't stop until the project was finished. In early 2025 I decided I wanted to build a 30'x32' shop at my house for my own use. I got bids from 5 different contractors and I decided on Spane for three main reasons: First, in my initial and subsequent meetings with Michelle, their designer and estimator, I learned she was very knowledgeable, personable, and very easy to work with. She took me through the entire design/build process from the beginning to the end, cheerfully answered my questions and put up with me changing my mind several times during the process. Because of her thoroughness, there were no surprises from start to finish. She made it easy. Second, Spane's bid came in the lowest, but I thought it was reasonable as I had done my own estimate of materials and labor based on current costs. (Unlike some of these Contractors around here who jack their bids up to try to make a years profit from a 2 month project...) Third, and most important, over the years I had seen for myself the quality of their work and at the end of my build, my new shop is exactly what I expected and exactly what I wanted. In today's world, Spane actually understands and pursues customer satisfaction and I can't recommend them highly enough.
