The Ravari Room is at the top of my list of bars that never gets enough attention from my friends and I. Whether it's for a show of the metal/stoner rock variety or a night of pool with surly hesher/biker types, Ravari Room is always a high-caliber place to spend the evening. The layout of the bar is simple and inviting, with a bar in the middle and a handful of seating options located in all directions. The booths on the north end of the bar are great for groups, while the tables on the south end are good for posting up with a friend or two before moving on to another location. There's a few pool tables in the back that always receive a lot of action as well. The crowd here is a mixed bag at all times, but the general vibe I get from this place is that it's a popular watering hole for stoner/dude-rock types and their tattooed girlfriends. The jukebox is stocked accordingly with plenty of Clutch, Fu Manchu (a band that's been known to play a show or two here in their time), High on Fire, Motorhead, The Misfits, and a hundred other bands with similar headbanging tendencies. It may sound scary to some, but they're generally an amicable group of folks that's easy to share the bar with. Live shows here have become increasingly frequent in the past couple of years, and the ones I've seen here were impressive. The sound guy does a superior job at mixing some of the heaviest bands you'll see on such a small stage, and I've never been disappointed by a guitar solo or sludged out riff that's blasted it's way out of the Ravari Room's PA. Drink prices here are average, but the all-day every-day $1.50 PBR draft special is clearly a deciding factor in the popularity of this north campus hangout. I've crawled out of there after having been fed numerous whiskey shots as well, which leads me to believe that some night of the week there involves cheap well shots. If I could remember the details, they'd certainly be here, but I don't even remember how I got home that night, let alone how much the most generous shots I've had in a long time were. Thank you, Ravari Room. You will always be my go-to boozery when I find myself sober and north of Hudson Street.

Clampdown dance nights are quite crowded. Great space to enjoy some music and pizza though!

Had a great draft beer and an appetizer which were both good. Chatted with the owner at length who was behind the bar. It's a table top game focused bar/resturaunt. Tons and I means tons of board games in all genres on the walls to use. Seems very family friendly. Well lit. Cool decor. They also hold regular events and special events. Highly recommend.

They offer a variety of drinks and food items, which you can enjoy while playing games. You can order at the bar or through the wait staff that comes around to take orders. The drinks were very festive, like the golden dragon, which had shimmering edible glitter in it, and the bunny shot, which was served in a chocolate bunny. I got to try lots of boardgames like 3D blockus, hues and cues, and attempted to play wingspan (although we didn't get to it because it's a long game!) They even had a stage area, which would be great for performances. Will be back to enjoy their food next time! The only thing to note is that their parking is limited and most of the surrounding lots have tow warning signs on them so carpooling would be good if you're going with a big group!

We popped in for an after-party drink (pr several) and a bite and were pleasantly treated to those and more. The bartender (and manager along side) was quick to greet, take orders, and serve and was also good to chat for a bit. They'll make you anything you want and all the drinks were tasty. The menu looked enticing and I can never resist wings washed down with draft beer - both really hit the spot. A friend decided upon one (of several) of their jambalaya and WOW was it delicious! In fact, I would to return just for it! The vibe, which was chill, was also perfect and we left, after a few hours, all agreeing that Kelley's is a fantastic spot. Set aside any hesitation and spot the search, Kelley's is where you're going tonight!

My friend was obviously shaken up and when we asked the owner about it. We were met with aggressiveness and a lack of empathy regarding the matter. There was no genuine apology offered when the situation was witnessed. And when we asked to speak with her she approached us with irritation. And let us know she's not sure what else she wants us to do because she already comped her drinks. When I proceeded to ask if she was okay with said behavior from this man, she aggressively responded and continued to show a lack patience or empathy. She was very aware of the matter because her bartender requested for something to be comped, but failed to acknowledge the concern as a business owner directly to her customers. As if we didn't experience something personally violating and traumatic, while she was only a few feet away. And also was seen engaging with said man; prior to allegedly requesting them to leave. I'm deeply disappointed in my experience and I would not recommend any business here.

Their visual chart is a…read moregodsend for cocktail explorers, and all of the drinks came out delicious and exactly as described. It's so creative, and the drinks are really the stellar stand out here. However, the atmosphere of those drinks is what gives me pause when thinking about coming back. The limited table situation, tiny cramped space, and loud music means that it doesn't feel particularly relaxing. People are constantly brushing up against you (even at 5PM), and holding a conversation at a normal distance is nearly impossible. NOTE: This place is covered in dust. No shade to the ownership as it doesn't appear to be anywhere near food prep areas (it's on the decor, on/around shelving, all over the faux plants, etc.), but if you're someone who's sensitive to dust, this is probably not a good fit. PROS: -I loooooooove how they've done their drink menu. As someone who is still exploring the potential of cocktails, their nerdy "chart" that places all of their drinks on a sweet/bitter and alcohol-forward/approachable visual chart is SUCH a help. As such, everything I ordered was absolutely amazing for me. I knew exactly what to expect from a drink because of its position on the chart, and it delivered. -Their drinks are really unique. Aqua faba? Fat washed alcohols? Lollipops or toasted marshmallows as garnishes? Super cool. Don't let some of the weirder descriptions creep you out of trying them. -All of their drinks were delicious. Everything I ordered was exactly as described. I often go places where the taste is barely related to its namesake, but they were entirely on-point here. CONS: -I'm not sure if someone called off that night as other reviewers are in love with the service, but our service was really really slow. No real rapport with the staff; just stating the name of a drink as they rushed past and then they were off to try to clean a table or take someone else's order. The drinks they made were great, but this isn't somewhere we'd go if we were in a hurry. -The pictures do not accurately convey how small this place is. Like, it's small. I'd guess less than 1000 square feet. My apartment is bigger by a lot. This isn't necessarily an issue, but it means people pile up quickly as they wait for seating (there's like 4/5 tables and then bar seating). The human walkways are small enough that the bartenders and other guests will brush against you a lot - even while seated. -I get the vibe they were going for here, but with the smaller space, I think a lot of the potential decor options had to "go" in order to fit more humans. It's giving me hardcore The Hearth Room (in Cincinnati) vibes, and I think it could honestly pull it off if it simply had more space. The "relaxed, sophisticated bourbon bar" doesn't quite come through as well when things are so focused on simply fitting in more bodies. -It's loud AF. Like, really, really loud. Between all the people and the blasting pop music, it required leaning into someone's ear in order to speak at normal volumes. We'd regularly have to pause the conversation if something in the music was building to a drop. This is not a place I'd take someone I wasn't very very comfortable with because it really requires being in someone's space to talk. -There's a single all-gender toilet here for everyone in the establishment. It's basically a revolving door of people in and out of it. The door auto-closes, however, so it's really difficult to figure out if it's open or not. There was usually a queue of people waiting in front of the door.
