PLEASE NOTE: THIS REVIEW IS FOR DR. GENE PEZZOLLO, NOT DR. RASTEGAR I would have preferred to give a 4.8 rating, taking away points only for a small, stuffy waiting room (which they say will be remodeled soon) and for the long wait. However, the wait must be forgiven because of the very nature of oral surgery - many cases are emergency, or at least critical. Mine was. They squeezed me in yesterday for an appointment today, so I guess I shouldn't complain. I want to register a rave review for Dr Gene Pezzollo. First, you have to know that I'm a horrible, nervous dental patient. I need the gas to get my teeth cleaned. Not kidding. But I had a capped wisdom tooth that had to come out. Besides being a talented oral surgeon, Dr. Pezzollo has a real expertise in anesthesiology. He gassed me good, injected the local, and waited the right amount of time before jumping in. His confident hands made quick work of my somewhat complicated issue. I felt no pain at all, and he was done in minutes. He even took the time to go back in and double check his work. I actually could not believe how easy this procedure was. And last but not least, the staff was caring and attentive - Patty, Katie, and especially Melissa, who assisted the Doctor during my procedure. Melissa was active and efficient, but I could hardly tell she was there. I would like to address a negative, earlier review: This doctor, although not warm and fuzzy, precisely answered every question and concern that I raised. He was not in a rush, but neither did he have time to waste. Personally, I prefer a doctor who knows his stuff to one who makes me feel cozy. And post-surg instructions? They're printed out and handed to you. The truth is, I'm kind of blown away by my experience. I hope to never need this again, but if I do, I know where to go. Now you do too! read more

He did my son's wisdom teeth two weeks ago. Had been referred to another practice that featured amazing office space, space age equipment and where I was treated as insane because I refused general anesthesia (as unsafe without an anesthesiologist or trained practitioner other than the surgeon present). Dr. Rasteger had no qualms, nor should he. Total time using local for the procedure from intake to finished was 32 minutes, post-op swelling was minimal. My son said that it was a breeze and the Dr. Rasteger made it seem effortless. I would highly recommend. (As a side note, the front office staff isn't all that terrific and the waiting room is cramped with a TV literally blasting at hearing threatening decibels. That's an area of the practice that could use some work). read more

I first visited Dr. Rastegar a week ago and had a pleasant experience. He's the sixth doctor that I've seen to help diagnose my painful issue in my mouth, and the first to actually do something about it. I returned for a second visit this week for a biopsy. Dr. Rastegar's skill as an oral surgeon is remarkable. Have had 2 extractions done at his office, the most recent being last week. My tooth was out in literally under a minute, but done with skill and a sure hand. No bruising, no swelling and best of all, no pain (even when he injected Novacaine). He is the probably one of the best oral surgeons in Nassau county (and beyond). Also, his entire office, from the front desk to his dental assistants are calm, cool and professional. Unfortunately, the fee I was charged for a non impacted, non wisdom tooth, simple single tooth extraction was extremely high vs. usual fee for this procedure. Clean, quiet, office. Friendly and professional staff. The equipment here is state of the art as well. No one likes a trip to the dentist or oral surgeon, but Dr Rastegar did an absolutely great job of making my experience as close to enjoyable as a trip to a dentist could be. Honestly, he is amazing and patient! I was referred to him by an old coworker and my dentist to do my wisdom teeth removal. He was very patient, kind and interactive. I intended only to remove the bottom 2 teeth, but he was like do your top 2 and 1 bottom because the top doesn't hurt. And he was right the top didn't hurt one bit! Idk if it was cause he pulled them out gently, but compared to everyone I ever spoken to- my wisdom tooth removal was painless! I was hesitant about being sedated, due to the pricing, but he discounted it by $150. I was very pleased with his generous gesture. The next day I was able to eat pizza and buffalo wings with no issues. The bottom wisdom tooth was probably the major pain of the two week processing because of the stitches but, eventually the stitches fell out by itself. For the follow-up, he was super nice and helpful. He recommended for me to not remove my last wisdom teeth because it was against the nerve and I was glad he was honest, as oppose to other dentists who are looking for that extra $. I recommend him to anyone who wants a painless wisdom tooth removal! read more

Dr. Rastegar is amazing! I had been lamenting getting my wisdom teeth removed for years (needed 3 removed, all impacted). I was truly terrified by the whole procedure. He made sure that I was as comfortable as possible. Because I have a phobia of being put under, he gave me laughing gas, allowed me to listen to my music with my ear phones, and made sure the gas was working before even telling me to open my mouth. I kept my eyes closed for what felt like a total of 5 minutes, and was shocked when he said we were done. I was awake for the whole thing and felt no pain! Mind you, my bottom tooth needed to be drilled. Aside from a little noise and a slight pressure, I felt nothing at all. It's day 2 and my pain is pretty minimal. His office staff was helpful and courteous. My car had gotten stuck in the snow and not even knowing I was a patient Cate helped me get out of the snow. The other staff .
