OK, enough nostalgia. Lake Padden is conveniently located just south of downtown Bellingham, consequently it can get busy at times. The layout is fun as doglegs, elevation changes, and forest off the fairways command your focus. The greens are on the large side and can get rolling fast! Different tees make it playable for all length hitters, and the layout will force a variety of shots and use of most clubs in your bag. A full driving range, large putting green, pro shop and restaurant are also available. If you can avoid the busiest times, Lake Padden is worth a play.

There are spots where your ball might get plugged cuz it's a bit wet and muddy but no golf course is going to have mid summer conditions in early April! There is the pungent oder of manure to fertilize the fairways but that's to be expected. We played for $24 each plus golf cart! Pretty rock bottom price if you ask me! Yes yes I broke 100. I shot a 95. Homestead Golf is a deal and a half! If you're into golf and have a Nexus card give them a call and book a tee time!

They gave me a bag with all of the clubs I would use So my friend and I took a quick walk to the range after buying a glove. You hit off a mat. Wonderful range if you tend to hook be sure and use a pad on the right. Otherwise you may meet the players on the ninth hole ( and not in a good way). A really nice bar where the bartender will make you a fine drink or burger and fries the bartender provided the right amount of conversation and mixed a proper old fashioned.

Most recently, I came with my parents, grandma, and aunt to celebrate Mother's Day today (Sunday 14 May 2023) with a lunch out. The club has a dress code: a collared shirt for men and no shorts for women. So, as a female, I went with my black and white Under Armour shoes, black athletic sweatpants, and a dark red crew neck sweatshirt. I cut my hair myself in a 5 millimeter buzzcut style on the Tuesday (9 May 2023) before the lunch to be crisp for the occasion. I encountered no problems in the workers correctly identifying my gender, and was not turned away. The floor plan/spacing between the tables was pleasant and the chairs had wheels on the bottom, making them easy to move, which I found nice. The lunch buffet had a breakfast section, a more savory lunch section, and a dessert section. All of the items I tried, including scrambled eggs and salsa, salad, bacon, biscuits and gravy, and a cheese blintz, were tasty. My belly was content after one round of the main buffet items. For dessert I went with a carefully cut square/rectangle of yellow cake (not lemon cake) that had a good classic yellow cake flavor and a fluffy/airy cream cheese frosting. The frosting paired with the cake exquisitely and I did not share. All of the workers were friendly and the parking lot was easily accessible. The front also has an area to pull up and pick-up/drop-off people, which was perfect for grandma.

Well, unless another wedding invite graces my mail box, there's no way I could get in. To get on the waiting list for membership is $25k on it's own. Plus, I don't wear my pants up at my armpits or take dinner before 5pm. The view is gorgeous. You can see the Grouse Grind and Vancouver from the expansive patio that faces the course. The greens look like they're kept in immaculate form. (I wonder if there's a wee little garden gnome out there in the early morning hours grooming them with a pair of shears! What else would they do with all those annual dues?) The staff is friendly, professional and on top of their game. They were awesome about bringing vegetarian dishes to the lone vegetarian at our table and kept the drinks coming! The food was decent. It's exactly what you'd expect at a golf course, although, as I mentioned, I was there for a wedding, so we possibly were privy to an exclusive menu - Shrimp Cocktail? Lobster thermidor? Dim sum dumplings as appetizers? Don't mind if I do!

The holes are not particularly challenging, but it's fun. Several hazards, including marshy areas and grass clippings where the ball just disappears. The most remarkable thing about the San Juan golf and country club is the customer service. I had left a sweatshirt in the back of a golf cart I called them two days later when I discovered it missing. Years ago we would go here to the Grill restaurant with a friend who had a membership. When we…read morementioned once how much he liked it, he told us they had a social membership in addition to the golf memberships (I don't golf). Looked into it and got one, now there is a long waiting list. The restaurants and service are always excellent and are a great value. The prime rib is the best value in town in my opinion. Definitely have no plans to give up our membership.
