First, I just want to start off by saying that I am not an expert in Indian cuisines and I have an amateur palate since I'm barely diving in. This place is located next to an Indian store called Spices of India making it very convenient to stop by where shopping. Locked in with a group of five, where we were greeted and seated immediately. Ordering is done through a touchscreen device that shows images of the dishes, which is nice because the menu is very limited on images. Because our group was quite big, we ordered a few items to try! Samosa - I can't rate this one personally since I didn't try it, but I was told that it was good Chole Bhature - not the best I've had before, but very good still Pani Puri- I was really excited to try this as I have seen this on social media, it's a crispy ball that has raw onions, maybe chickpeas, maybe potatoes inside? Rasoi has always been great, but the remodel has added more space for seating and a cozier atmosphere. We typically only go on the Sunday buffets. The buffet menu changes but it is usually posted on the restaurant's Instagram so you can see what is being served that week. There are always at least a dozen mains along with rice, naan, desserts and salad. The cashiers are very friendly and there is an ordering kiosk that allows you to explore all of their options. $15 for a buffet where everything is delicious is well worth the price. Rasoi has been closed for a much needed remodel. They only have their buffet on Sunday only for the time being. The cost is $14.99 per person. They were busy. It was wonderful seeing all the beautiful outfits everyone had on. They have a cashier to ring you up or a kiosk where you can see their menu and order from there. Everything was delicious. They have trays to use but a lot of dishes required a bowl. The fish nuggets were good but cold. They bring you fresh naan to your table. I haven't had Indian food in a long while and I was really craving some so Rasoi was the spot and boy did it hit the spot! It is connected to an Indian restaurant, which is actually perfect for them and very spacious but yet playing inside. I ordered off of the machine, but someone came around to help me and was very sweet about it. After a few minutes of trying to decide what is what and what sounds the best, I made a decision and no regrets whatsoever on that decision! Food was so flavorful. I pretty much licked my plate. I'm very impressed by Rasoi. My family has been going to Spices of India for years, but it's been a while since I have been back myself and I have actually never been to the restaurant side. They have fully renovated the restaurant with modern furniture and appliances. It's very clean inside with plenty of booth and table seatings. On Sundays, they have a buffet option. My husband and I went for lunch this past Sunday and I ordered the buffet, which was very delicious! I enjoyed chicken tikka masala, rajma, chicken dum biryani, lamb jalfrezi, goat korma, gajar, saag paneer, naan, halwa, and gulab jamun. My husband opted for ordering the pav bhaji off the menu. Be sure to ask for more bread if you order the pav bhaji because it comes with a lot of bhaji (vegetable) but not enough pav (bread). I also ordered the mango lassi which was super yummy and complemented the buffet well. We will be back again! read more

I know that nothing good lasts, as evidenced by... literally everything in the world right now. So, I'm already preparing myself for the inevitable disappointment, but as of this past Sunday, Rasoi has the best Indian buffet in town. It's best for a few reasons: 1. Relatively limited options, so maybe a focus on quality over quantity? 2. The quality is akin to homemade Indian food, so things like the Apollo Fish, Kadai Chicken, and Biryani all tasted like they were made thoughtfully as opposed to being churned out in absurd factory quantities to feed a bunch of fatties. 3. It's only on the weekend, so maybe they have more time to be careful and thoughtful? Legitimately, everything they served was delicious and the best restaurant version of that thing to be had amongst the sea of trash Indian restaurants in town like Gopuram or Sheesh Mahal or Mt. Everest or... I dunno, take your pick of your favorite middling Indian joint that you love to go to when you say you love Indian food. I expect the quality to decline, or the price to go up. Or if we live in the worst timeline, the quality will decline AND the price will go up. But until that happens, I will be back. P. S. Surprisingly thoughtful and helpful service. P. P. S. South Indian food in OKC?!?! How have I just found out about this place?! I've been relying on intense Google searches and tons of experimenting in the kitchen to get my dose of South Indian food, which is predominantly the kind of Indian cuisine that they served in the country I lived in. So it's really nice to know that South Indian food is being represented here! Back to what's important though - the food. That menu made me so happy. I haven't seen pani puri or vada anywhere since I've been here. They even had dosa!! Was so excited. Anyway, got the thali with paneer Tikka, and dal curry + paratha. Paneer Tikka was great, pickles were a great punch of flavor too. The dal curry was a little bland, which was a little disappointing. I'm really not too sure if the paratha they serve is the kind of paratha I'm thinking of. Back in South East Asia, parathas are flaky, and buttery, (thank God for ghee) and all things good. The ones we had were more like capati but they were pretty good nonetheless. Love that there's also an Indian market that's well stocked right next door. We'll definitely be back! read more

Food - bland and disappointing. Insufficient spices and flavor. With the exception of chili in the chutney and the cardamon in the gulab jamum. There were no noteworthy flavors. Atmosphere- needs work. But its okay. All cutlery and dinnerware is disposable. Cleanliness - lacking with dirty tables, windows and a sticky water dispenser. Prices - no where to be found. Until you order and are given a total to pay. We spent $20. Came here because of some good reviews but as I worked my way through the meal, I could not help but disagree with those reviews. Everything tasted/looked pre made and we did not finish most of it. We even heard the microwave running for a few minutes before our food came out which can be a sign the food is not house made. Total ordered was 4 samosas, Talhi with panner masala and palak panner, chai, and a dessert item we never got. The samosas were freshly fried and the best part of the meal. These may have been made in house. They came out hot and with two chutneys that had some flavor. But the samosas are where the joy ended. The talhi looked great and talhis are one of my favorite items as I get to try a bit of many things. So I was excited for this to come out. So here is where it goes south. The curry. I started with the panner masala which tasted oddly like canned Raviolis, had zero stand out flavors and a more gritty texture than most masalas. Panner was similar to what you can buy pre made at any Indian grocery. The palak panner was basic and just spinach with the same panner in the masala. Typically there is some spice. But I guess this place doesn't really do spice. The naan was pre packaged and I assume microwaved based on the uneven heating and soggy center. The Cucumber salad was okay but didn't make up for the Currys being bland. The yogurt dish was okay. The crunchy bread item had crunch. The gulab jamun tasted like the canned kind I've bought many times. Nothing wrong with this just nothing special. The chai was very watered or milked down. The other dessert item was ... well I don't know, never got it and was so disappointed with the meal I didn't feel like asking for it. Just wanted to leave. Enjoyed the lunch buffet on a Saturday afternoon. Loved the options and that you could try a little bit of lots of dishes without commuting to one or two dishes since we were new to the restaurant and Indian cuisine. The naan bread was plentiful and served warm. Definitely ask for the garlic naan. My kids enjoyed the chicken tikka masala - lots of flavor and not too spicy. I have a love/hate relationship with Indian buffets. I love them because I generally want to try as many things as possible, and I have a tendency to overeat when Indian food is being served. I hate them because buffets are often the worst way to try certain dishes, and I have a tendency to overeat these poor examples anyway (leading to diner's remorse). My lunch at Rasoi exemplified why I struggle with the Indian buffet experience. The dining area is utilitarian, and nothing more. That doesn't bother me; I'll add points if a restaurant has nice/well laid out decor, but I won't remove points for decor unless the price point leads me to expect a certain level that subsequently doesn't get met. Once I got seated, I headed to the buffet line. It was okay. Tandoori chicken; butter chicken; paneer masala; some type of chana curry (probably masala); chicken biryani; chicken 65; mixed veg curry; chicken curry; pakora; gulag jamun; and the desert I always forget the name of that looks like sweet potatoes. They bring naan to the table. There are also 2-3 chutneys/sauce and some salad vegetables. The mixed veg curry was room temperature and tasted like it was reheated Veg-All with a little sauce stirred in. The chicken biryani was light on both meat and spice. The tandoori chicken was bland and cold, and the pakora wasn't cooked all the way through. On the bright side, the chicken curry was quite flavorful. Not sure what type of curry it was (kind of like a vindaloo or korma, but oilier), but it was tasty. The chana were pretty good, and the chicken 65 was okay. The gulab jamun were hot, and they didn't hold back on the orange flower water (you could taste more than just sugar). I felt bad for lying when asked how the food was, but I just didn't have the heat or energy to be honest in the moment. Additionally, I'm always concerned in ethnic restaurants about potentially being the white guy jerk trying to tell someone how something is supposed to be served. But this first try was not impressive. I'll come back again, maybe on a different day/time. But $20 (tip included) for sub-par food doesn't have me rushing to book my calendar. read more

I B got chickpea curry (love this), potato curry (eh, I'm not a potato fan), rice with carrots and peas which were delicious), chapati (plain-ish flatbread), a potato and pita samosa (I want another), Gulab Jamon (flour dessert with a syrup on it), a cucumber salad, some chip thugs, and it was all good. Quick update. My family always stops in for a quick snack after we do some shopping next door. Recently, this place has gotten a face lift! So much better than it used to be. More seating, cleaner and newer deco. They're definitely trying so I'm giving it a 5 star for the effort. I know it can feel a stretch but here's the thing- their food is great! This must be the most slept-on place in the OKC Metro. Rasoi Chaat Cafe reminds me of Vik's Chaat in Berkeley. Everything on the menu is vegetarian and delicious. The prices are so reasonable, it's a great incentive to try something new, which is good, because the menu is extensive. There is a picture menu at the counter, which I appreciate for helping me bolster my chaat vocabulary (my chaat chat?). This allows me to confidently order "Bhel puri," instead of "That one that's kind of like spicy rice crispies." The seating area is very basic. I usually order to go, and they are always really nice. It's fun to browse the supermarket that's attached while waiting for my order. I highly recommend this local chaat spot! read more

This is the 3rd time I've had lunch at this location. Each time I there was one problem after another. The food was mainly mediocre. Curries did not taste fresh. A lot of what I wanted they didn't cook yet. I was there around 1 and she told me if I could come back at 3 if I wanted the South Indian curries they listed on the menu. The samosa was good. The chai was good. The service was extremely slow and the cashier was over worked and was messing everything up. I waited 30 minutes for a cup of chai and gulab jamun. The price was fantastic and that's why I give them 3 star instead of 2. I love Indian food so much and keep hoping they would do better at this restaurant but it's like they truly don't care. The place isn't clean, looks barren and ... honestly just like a truck stop lunch room in a gas station. If you're wanting fairly authentic Indian, vegetarian food, this is a good spot to check out. If you put aside what you may expect from most restaurants nowadays, I think you'll have a good experience. The interior could use a major face-lift. It is extremely outdated with cafeteria style tables, weird and random spacing, etc. Luckily, I don't care too much if the food is good, but a little bit of renovation wouldn't hurt. Service is not the best. I've noticed this at many Indian or Asian restaurants where all the staff don't speak the best English. Some of them may come off as rude, but normally it's not the case. Be patient with the language barrier, and you'll be fine. If anything, take it as a good sign that you'll be receiving authentic food. They have a bell that you ring at the front desk when you're ready to order. I normally hate this system as I just feel rude, but it's definitely needed here. While I may timidly tap the bell at other places, I find myself giving a firm ring here so one of them will hear and come out of the kitchen to help. All that being said, one guy came in and rang the bell like 10 times. I hope he reads this review so he can realize how much of a jerk he is. That is all. Everything I've had so far has been great. The Samosa chaat is awesome and that's coming from someone who has been tired of samosas for quite some time. The chickpea sauce and other sauces they put on top are amazing. I highly recommend it. I also got an order of spinach paneer which was pretty good as well. Little bit of spice to it too. Pricing is what blows my mind. Almost everything on the menu is $5-6 or less. And they aren't baby portions either. This is definitely one of those places in which I'll come back to try more options. If you're wanting to try something new, come and check this place out. Mainly chaats (Indian snacks and street foods), they have a lot of variety you don't see in other Indian restaurants in the area. Seems to serve more southern Indian food than northern. Had Chana Chaat, masala dosa with coconut chutney, pav bhaji, wada pav, and pani puri. All were super falavorful, full of spices, and delicious! Service was a little slow, but they are kind. If you are craving authentic Indian snacks like samosas and pani puri, this is your place. When I say snacks, I mean super filling snacks. It's MEGA cheap yet fresh and delicious. This place is on the left side of the Indian supermarket, Spices of India (in the same building but there is a hall separating them) so I usually will stop and eat here when I pick up groceries. I highly recommend the samosa chaat. It's 2 samosas covered in chole (chickpea curry) with loads of toppings like tamarind and mint chutney, onions, cilantro and a cream type sauce. AMAZING. This has a bit of a kick to it so if you can't handle spicy well I would recommend ordering samosas separately and staying with just the tamarind chutney. My other favs are the eggplant curry and pau bhaji (veggie currie with bread). They also have good paneer curries (spinach and tikka are great)! The daal here is outstanding!! I'm a fan of hole-in-the-wall places with great food. When it comes to ethnic food, I listen to the people of that ethnicity about where to go. That is what Rasoi is, and the three times I've been, I've been the only white American...a good sign! I've been eating "Indian food" at the growing number of Indian restaunts in Oklahoma restaurants for years, and have also been invited to Indian homes for the real deal. I watched "Street Food" on Netflix recently and saw a great episode on really yummy looking Indian street food. That's basically what they serve here, and that's what I was after. The first time I visited was a decade ago when it was just a little counter tucked away in the back of the grocery store. I ordered the samosa choley and loved it, and so cheap. But now they have a little cafe across the hall. As you enter from the hallway, there is a counter with a desk bell, tons of Indian sweets behind the glass below, and a cooler with exotic drinks behind, but no one at the counter. A man behind me nudged me to ring the bell and someone came out of the back quickly to take my order. I ordered the samosa choley, of course. I paid with credit under five dollars (3.99). I expected to have to pay cash. She gave me a ticket and I took a seat. The dining area looked like they had furnished it with a McDonald's liquidation auction, and against the wall was a water cooler and a table with plasticware and sugar and salt, etc. It felt like a long wait, but really it was shorter than most restaurants. In the three times I've been, I've never seen more than two customers. The servers are quiet, and might not speak much English, but very polite. When the food came out fresh on a styrofoam plate, it was filled to the brim. Savory, spicy, tender, crunchy, and sweet just like I had hoped for. The food was at just the right spice level for a typical Okie. I would have preferred it hotter. I suspect I could have asked for more heat. The next week, I tried the bhel chaat. It was very tasty, but not satisfying as a meal. I could see myself taking a small portion of this in the afternoon as a snack which is probably what it is supposed to be. Rasoi is a great option for vegetarians. It's not open on Mondays, as I discovered today. I will personally keep this cafe in business if necessary, but I hope that you will check it out and keep this wonderful little place alive! read more

This is a different kind of place. I wasn't very impressed when I walked in. The dining area had the feel of a Greyhound bus station. That isn't an attempt at humor. I'm serious. There were 3 employees, and 2 customers sitting in the lobby. You'll need to order at the counter. I stood at the counter for 5 mins, during which time another customer arrived, and stood behind me. When I finally rang the bell for assistance after making eye contact with the 3 employees, someone comes out and states that he'll be right with me. Then suddenly the customer behind me walks behind the counter, into the kitchen. I guess they had 4 employees. Shrugs. Anyhow, someone finally approaches the couch, and I order from the huge picture menu on the counter. I order 2 familiar items, Vegetable Samosas and Potatoe Curry(This place is completely Vegetarian). I also ordered the Pani Puri. I ordered 3 items because the price was so low, and I assumed the portions would reflect that. Wrong. I finished maybe half, and asked for a carryout. The food was great. Freshly prepared, and cheap. All the items seem to be a la carte. If they didn't have such shit service, I'd easily give them a 4/4.5 overall. read more

This place has ways to go forward . They need to focus on quality than providing quantity. Tried "Dahi vada". There is almost negligible "dahi" in it. I think they need to make the vada "soft" too. As other reviewers have mentioned, the service and especially the atmosphere are lacking. When i needed help though, the ladies at the counter were kind and patient with my questions. They knew i probably had little idea of what i was ordering so they did their best to explain everything i was ordering. That being said, the food is amazing! When you eat out you must look at it as an adventure. I did not know what anything on the menu was so i looked it all up. But being surprised by what i ordered was fun, and now i know more than i did when i went in! I will definitely go here again when im tired of tasteless american food. I wanna give this place -1 rating. I ordered a thali worth 10.99$, It came with a small cup of rice, 3 Chapati and 2 curries(Dall Fry and Paneer Tikka Masala). The gravy in paneer smelled raw ginger garlic, It was not even cooked properly. Paneer was not even fresh. The rice with thali was awful, it was full of cinnamon and it tasted like stale food. I feel a complete rip off for paying 10.99$ for that food. Puri with Chole was tasting Ok. We also ordered so called "Fresh Sugar Cane Juice", which was 25% Sugar Cane juice and 75% Water, It was so diluted. Infestation of cockroaches everywhere. My husband and I used to love to come for chaat weekly, but a month ago we spotted several cockroaches crawling on the wall. When one of them decided to join my husband on his seat, he quickly jumped up and demanded to leave. He told the owner, but I guess she didn't take heed to our suggestion to have the restaurant sprayed . We gave it another shot today and found several roaches scattering on the floor. I asked the lady who brought our food if roaches were also in the kitchen area and she replied yes. At least she was honest. My husband could barely touch his food. Ok first off, if you're not indian, don't bother writing a shitty review because this is AUTHENTIC indian chaat. The kind that you find in the bazaar in India. If you want the fake Americanized version of Indian food, there are plenty of restaurants that cater to your palate. This is not one of them. The prices are super cheap comparatively to the amount of food you receive. The only downside is that it takes forever to get your food, but it's all freshly made so that's to be expected. The samosas are to die for and always a great choice if you're unsure of what to get. The place isn't as aesthetically pleasing as most restaurants but keep in mind: this is more of a casual bistro than anything. Huge emphasis on casual. If you need real plates and silverware instead of the paper substitutes they provide you with, this is definitely not the place for you. But there is something to be said for the simple presentation. The unassuming paper plate is filled with the perfect amount of food and spices and spiced just right to melt into your mouth and keep you coming back for more. read more
