The sea salt crema was creamy, slightly salty, and paired so perfectly with the coffee. The pudding was silky smooth, the brown sugar boba was chewy and sweet, and every sip was chef's kiss. I've been going to Rare Tea in Clovis since they opened, and I would say it's a pretty good boba shop - the drinks are really where they shine. If you're going for the first time and like milk tea, their Okinawa milk tea (I like mine half sweet) with boba is the way to go. That is probably their bestseller, and for good reason. It is strong, with the perfect amount of bitterness and sweetness. For me personally, I drink a lot more fruit teas now, and I personally like the peach black tea or rose spring tea (again at half sweet for me) with lychee jelly. I also like their choice of the crunchy small ice, but I will say it does come up the boba straw and hit my teeth sometimes. One con for me are the prices (they can be a bit high), which I don't mind paying from time-to-time for a good drink. The other con is the staff. They aren't the most inviting people, and often they are on their phones or chatting with coworkers, which I don't mind, but they sometimes continue to do it when customers come in, and it makes it a bit awkward. It's been a while since I went, so I'm not sure if that has changed. The store itself is typically empty when I go, and it's become a bit run down over the years, so I don't really try to stay for long, but it is a decent space. read more

Friday morning 11am Three friends ordering tea and just hanging out and catching up on life. Our first visit and we love tea so thought we would pop in. The gentleman taking our order was quite patient as we perused the menu. One friend ordered a cold tai tea. Two friends ordered hot teas. All were enjoyed. Fair prices and delicious tea. People came and went and we stayed for a couple of hours. Never felt rushed. 4/5 stars because there are no food items on the menu. I think I found a new place to get some laptop work done and sip a delicious coffee beverage! I popped in here on Saturday and it was empty, but busy. Most everyone orders their drink and leaves with exception of a few. I had to get some work done so order the salted caramel coffee, at 20% sweet, with a shot of espresso. I was expecting this drink to be a sugar bomb, but the sweetness level wasn't bad. I think the espresso helped takeaway some of the sugary flavor. I never drink sugary drinks and even with minimal syrup it was still sweet. Rare tea also sells multiple milk tea options like taro, Thai, and a strawberry milk tea smoothie. It's been a while since I've went back to this place, but I'd say this is a pretty solid boba place to stop by whenever you find some off time and you want to spontaneously want to grab some. She had zero ounce of customer service in her and it almost made me walk out or tell her that she should say hi when I get to the register. I'm still a fan but I gotta stick to my mango green tea drink. I got the matcha rose and even with 0% sweet it was pretty sweet bc the rose is a syrup. Oh well. Also disappointingly the boba was not the right chewy. This is very very disappointing for a $7 drink! It should be consistent. I expect better from rare tea. Well their tea is still the best I've found in fresno, not bitter but strong, so far but their boba is a hit or miss it seems. New hours happily opening at 10am now yay. Now if they could get their service down. The girl helping seemed new and thankfully the other guy in there was helping her out and teaching her how to make the drink but... overall the vibe in there is just not. That. Warm. I came to this Rare Tea on 03/31/22 as I was in the area. I have only tried the other location off Herndon and 99 and thought it was pretty good so I was hoping this location would be the same. I was greeted upon entering. I already knew what I wanted which was a matcha rose latte with boba. The worker was friendly and kind. It smelled good and very clean inside and they were all wearing face masks. I asked the employee if the Matcha Rose Latte was Dairy free and he said "No". The other location had it Dairy free so I can already see this difference at this location. The only diary free option they had was Oatmilk which I had before at Starbucks and it was alright. I accepted the Oatmilk and they charge a really high price for it and my drink was almost $9 geez. I would not complain if my drink tasted 9 dollars and of course I added boba which was an additional charge. It took a while for my drink to get ready as I was the only customer but I could tell they were working as fast as they could and probably with my substitutions it takes a while. The employee let me know when my drink was ready and it was pretty. I took a sip and it tasted alright. When I got to my car and left I noticed the Oatmilk tasted like the "box" or "carton" taste. It was so off putting so I really didn't enjoy my almost $10 drink. I guess what I am saying the Oatmilk didn't taste fresh at all. It was totally stale. I probably would not get another Latte here but maybe just an Ice Tea. I felt obligated to finish it. I didn't want to go back and have them remake it as I was pretty much ready at a point in my drive it was not worth it to turn around and wait for a total new drink. I finished it like a champ. Overall, it wasn't the worse experience but not the best. The oatmilk with the box taste was off putting but it was drinkable. I go here often to get my Thai Milk Boba fix ;) So happy they are so close to home like 3 mins away. They have a lot of variety drinks. I've tried a few so far, like the taro, Oreo and Carmel brûlée. Still slowing going down the list to try the rest. They also mark ones that are caffeine free for kids. Which I appreciate since I have a 4 year old son. Today I ordered my son the Strawberry Milk w/ boba & pudding. He loves strawberries so this was tasty and different at first maybe because it had pudding. But he ended up liking it. Came here late at night since I was in the area. Not gonna lie, it's pretty nice inside. Very spacious and clean, I loved the vibe of the decor. I wanted to try their special brown sugar drink, without the brown sugar boba (replaced it with lychee jelly). It wasn't bad, the drink had a very earthy and herby taste rather than a sweet and creamy taste. Not how I expect my brown sugar drink to be, but it was an experience! The cups are super sturdy, which was very surprising! It's not your typical plastic cup that other boba places have, it's thicker and stronger! I love the cups here! So good!!! Haven't had a good boba in a while. Super excited to get some after dinner. Arrived around 7pm there was a few customers but there wasn't a line. We got greeted and got 2 of their popular specialty drinks. I ordered the brown sugar boba fresh milk and fiance got strawberry berry snow cream and added grass jelly. Waited no more than 10 mins for our drink. The brown sugar boba fresh was delicious. We requested 75% sweetness on both drinks but they could only do it for the strawberry because they couldn't reduce the sweetness level on the brown sugar. The boba was so soft and fresh. Good portion, I was happy that the brown sugar boba fresh milk wasn't overwhelming sweet. Towards the end of my drink I did however feel there was a bit too much boba, might just have to ask them to go light on it on my next drink. The strawberry, I wasn't to crazy over it, and not a huge fan of strawberries but fiance enjoyed it he drank it so quick I only got one sip so really dissect the flavors in the drink. This place like most tea shops offer the classics, toppings, snow creme, fruit teas, tea with espresso brew, they have a specialty menu and smoothies. Love that you can adjust the ice levels and sweetness levels. They also offer a rewards program. You simply enter your phone number on the kiosk and you will recieve a text message. 1point per $1 spent, after 50 points you get $5 off on your order. Complaint to social distancing. Rare tea houses a cute atmosphere and fast service, but the drinks are not my favorite. Every drink has been too sweet for me. I have tried their matchas and various fruit teas, but the drink makers were not able to adjust sweetness well because the drinks were still way too sweet even at 0% sweet, which was alarming. The only exception and acceptable drink I had was when I asked for and emphasized ABSOLUTELY no sweetener or sweetness of any kind in my matcha. It seems that Rare Tea only offers two sweetness levels: none or syrup-level sweet. read more

I also love that you can customize how sweet you order it. One of my favorites is the sea salt, coffee! I seriously could drink that coffee every day! Best boba shop in town. From someone that has been working as a manager for restaurants and boba shops for over 10 years, I'm impressed with the consistency of taste and quality of RareTea Clovis. Luckily, I had a chance to actually talk with the owner and he showed me the top-tier ingredients as well as inventories they use to craft the drinks that are made to order. Tea selections are abundant and brewed freshly everyday. Unlike many boba shops that use fruit syrups and additives, this place uses fresh fruits and real purees for their drinks. Really cute boba shop in Clovis. My go to is the rose milk tea with brown sugar boba, and this one was delicious. Their boba has been really fresh each time I've had it. I usually adjust the sweetness but I didn't have to here. There were a couple of orders right in front of me but they got all of our drinks out within a few minutes. The server was friendly and double checked if we wanted to make any adjustments as we ordered, then repeated the order back. We also got a couple of macarons with tea and rose inside. They're made by Vanntastic Sweets. They're a little pricey at $2.50 but they're perfect so you get what you pay for. I also nabbed one of their Lunar New Year tiger stickers for $1. Quality of boba separates the men from the boys of Asian tea shops. The boba here is perfectly textured and chewy through and through. No signs of hard, uncooked boba. They also have ai-Yu and grass jelly, my childhood favorites from Taiwan. Our first time trying here and it's very close to the freeway! We stopped by on our drive from norca to SoCal during Labor Day weekend and they made our drinks fast! We had the Okinawa milk tea which is non dairy creamer! We did 50% sweetness and it was perfectly light. Any lighter and it would feel watered down. We also had the kiwi aiyu fruit tea at 50% sweetness. Both were perfect. I like that these drinks had the natural taste of the tea and the fruits rather than just sugar overpowering the drinks. If you plan to get your money's worth, get full sweet and split it at home and dilute with water. $6 a drink means you gots to do what it takes to make that money last longer! Finally had the opportunity to try Rare Tea and highly recommend it. This is a perfect spot to meet up. They offer indoor seating and a few tables outdoors, too. The interior is cleverly styled and conveniently boasts digitized menus and Apple Pay for payment. The inside is clean and facilities are immaculate. Staff were friendly and efficient with order preparation. There is great variety on the menu-- tea, coffee, and fruit beverages, plus cookies. What a great place! I am completely obsessed.
