If I could give zero stars, I would. Our move from the Bay Area to Atlanta with Rapid Van Lines in July 2021 was an absolute nightmare from start to finish, resulting in significant financial loss and emotional distress. It's taken me three years just to shed all that and be able to write this review. If I can save just one person from having to go through they pain that we did, it was well worth my time to write this. The movers were unprofessional and showed up late on both ends of the move. They were unprepared and didn't have enough packing supplies, forcing us to use our own blankets to protect our belongings. The packing process itself was incredibly slow, taking 19 hours to pack our small 890 sq. ft. apartment. They didn't finish until 3:28 AM, and the foreman ended up just picking a random cubic foot value for our belongings because he was tired and didn't want to calculate it properly. We had no other options because we were flying across the country the next day for our move, and I really felt cornered. This is a tactic they likely use with many of their customers, and you can see from the other reviews this isn't an isolated incident. Communication was nonexistent. We were only provided with a basic inventory list that didn't cover all of our items, and the driver informed us that our belongings were in storage in California. We were missing over $11,500 worth of items, including valuable electronics, irreplaceable family heirlooms, and my wife's entire wardrobe. The loss of these items has caused immense emotional distress and financial strain. To make matters worse, the company was unresponsive and unhelpful throughout the entire claims process. They offered us an insulting $156 settlement for our devastating losses, which we refused. It's been over a year, and we still haven't received any compensation for our losses. Thank God we had renter's insurance that covered the loss. Please, please, please make sure you keep your renter's insurance until you're all settled and can confirm that nothing has been lost, damaged, or completely neglected. I strongly advise anyone considering Rapid Van Lines to look elsewhere. Do your research, read reviews, and don't skimp on price because what you'll end up with is a company like this.Their incompetence, lack of professionalism, and blatant disregard for their customers' belongings make them an unreliable and untrustworthy choice for any move. How about mentioning the extra 1200.00 because the truck.. that they filled with other people's stuff couldn't make it down my street.. which at the time I had no choice and had to have another truck move my stuff from the large truck to a smaller truck before they would deliver it. And then charged me. Ive lived here for a year now and have seen full vanline trucks unload neighbors all day long.. and their trucks are even larger. STAY AWAY! READ THE FINAL COURT JUDGEMENT! The Company picked up our belongings and charged me based on a 1,050 cu.ft. load at the pick-up location. I accepted the terms at that point as it was impossible to actually confirm the load and I relied on the Company's estimates: - I was reviewing, checking the count, inspecting the pick-up and disassembling process of our items (not all of them should have been taken) in our apartments on the 7th floor while the Company's movers put them into the truck; - Upon completion they showed me the truck and claimed that my load took 1,050 cu.ft. However, it was hard to check the accuracy since the truck was fully loaded and the load was not organized properly (from the floor to the ceiling). When we received our belongings it appeared that the actual load was only 450 cu.ft. if properly organized. Also, the Company didn't deliver assembling services at our drop-off destination which were promised at our pick-up location. The Company was not responsive to my claims, so I ended up going to court and won the court case. However, it is still a challenge to return the money (approx. $4,000) from the Company... DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY EVER. We used them for our move from California to Florida, I was told my stuff would be in Florida 21 days after they picked up all of my boxes. I was told this by Greg Conners who was the agent I worked with up until they picked up my items. He returned every call answered every question. The second my things were picked up, he never returned a single one of my calls. They picked up our items on October 21. When the 21 one days hit with no update on where my items were, I started calling Greg back, who never picked up or returned a single call. From there I started calling Jim who apparently is the head of transportation, he hung up on me several times when trying to find out where my items where, eventually, he finally told me the 21 days was incorrect, it was 21 BUSINESS days. Ok fine.... That shouldn't be too many more days. Once the 21 business days came and went with again no information about where my stuff was, Jim THAN informed me my stuff would not be coming to Florida until they had a truck full of other peoples things that were going to Florida and they could not advise to me when that would be. They left me in limbo not knowing when or if I would ever see my belongings again. At this point we were already at our place in Florida with no furniture, only the clothing we packed in our cars, we had barely anything. We finally got the call mid January that they would be bringing out stuff. Gave us a date that was a week out. The movers brought all of our stuff and as they were unloading I noticed SEVERAL boxes were open that we had taped shut. When we tapped out boxes shut we didn't put one line of tape on them, we put SEVERAL lines of tape in different directions to make sure they would stay super shut, but somehow these boxes no longer had tape and we're missing several items inside, I tried to get ahold of Jim, who was no longer returning my calls, tried to speak to Greg, who also was no longer returning my calls. The movers they hired (they were not the same people who picked up the items) were super unprofessional, they used our bathroom and peed all over the place and just left it for us to clean up after them. They had no information about why some of my items were damaged ie the boxes and my ornaments and the nice gaping hole in the beds fabric headboard. I filed a claim with the company as several of my lounge fly backpacks were stolen, several items were damaged in the move, my mini fridge and all my make up was stolen, along with several other items. And to remind everyone, no those items were not in a box that might have gotten misplaced by the movers, these items were in boxes that showed up half full when we got them with the tape taken off , meaning someone at some point of the movers having ALL of my stuff took the tape off, rummaged through my boxes, found what they wanted and took it. I filed the claim over a year ago and sent SEVERAL follow up emails with everyone I spoke to at the company attached to the email to make sure they even received my claim and not 1 person has responded. ****DO NOT HIRE - THIS COMPANY IS FRAUDULENT & A SCAM**** My initial quote was for slightly over $3000. As the movers started to walk into my unit, the lead mover was already looking for ways to overcharge me. He had me sign a couple of blank documents. I asked him what it was for, and he said "not to worry" that I was only slightly over the cubic metric limit. It was a sunny hot day in Los Angeles, and I gave them $400 in tip via Zelle, along with sparkling water as a gesture of gratitude as they left my building. Because I am new to Zelle, I did not know the app has "payout" limits. At this time, I also was unaware that "Rapid" Van Lines did not allow Zelle payments using a debit card. It would, later on, complicate things more than necessary. They had no problem taking my $500 holding deposit using my card but demanded wired transactions once the prices are hiked, towards the end. As they work on getting you to sign their contract, the estimator will mention to you a $1,000,000 insurance or will offer a "discount" but, you'll never know the discount ever existed because it'll get muddled into your "final bill" and there's no point in filing a claim because it is your word against theirs. You MUST understand that movers know they're dealing with distressed customers because any move especially, interstate moves ARE stressful. There is a psychological component to their business strategy. It was a bit heartbreaking watching it unfold before me with no one to turn to for help because the "manager" WAS the primary culprit. I wanted to support small businesses, but after this experience, I would rather pay more upfront for services than being nicked and dimed to death by atrocious greedy moving companies. It has been weeks already since I've paid half of my initial estimate ($1500 of $3000). Two nights ago I was given less than 12 hours to come up with over $5000, which needed to be wired "immediately", according to Jim Horky who, also goes by Jim Karrin. For the last month, this person yelled at me, called me names, hung up on me, being called repeatedly while I am at work, accused me of having financial woes because I refused to provide them with the full amount before they delivered. Would you feel comfortable forking over thousands of dollars in additional fees before your belongings even arrived? At no time in the last month did I receive an ETA when the movers would arrive with my stuff. According to my initial estimate, customers have the option to pay for cash or money order upon delivery. Two nights ago, an employee of "Rapid" Van Lines called me anonymously and told me countless stories of how they hustle customers. She mentioned something about a "shuttle" fee that most customers get charged with towards the end. She admitted that they had just recently targeted an "old poor lady" who had to fork over thousands of dollars at night on short notice. She also said that over 90/% of customers are also harassed by Jim, and I wasn't the only one this was happening to. Last night, Jim said my delivery would not occur and that my property is at a storage facility which they can't disclose to me. For me, money has never been the issue. What became an issue was their lack of transparency, the way I was treated, and the confession of their own employee who called me after hours because she had the decency and empathy towards me and my situation. Knowing that I will never see my dad's ashes again or my original college diploma, the family portraits, or my first ever Christian Dior suit I bought to see Oprah Winfrey, are tangible items that I must now hold dear to my heart. I offered the company to charge my debit account, pay by cash pay by money order but to no avail, they simply want money wired (more than likely for tax liability and because it's the end of the month and they need the money). BEWARE! I don't generally write reviews but with the actions of this company I want to make sure other people are not duped. We had a move from California to Colorado and not only was our items 17 days late, they would not even allow us to inspect the load before signing for delivery. My worry was how do I know that all our stuff is in the truck. I was forced to sign and pay the final balance before they opened the door. My fear was soon validated as 15% of our items were missing (including a sofa and massage chair - how do you lose that????) and about 15% of everything else was either scratched or broken. I am writing this due to an awful experience I've had with this company. First, the pick up with scheduled from 6/29-6/30. The movers did not arrive until 7/1. I called Jim to ask about an update of arrival time and he hung the phone in my face and did not answe. I spoke originally with chris and he came off as friendly however soon as I start calling to express how I felt. He did not answer my call. Trish was more helpful in the situation as she answered the phone and talked me through the situation. I had to stay an extra two nights in the place that I was in because of this terrible service. This means I had to pay an extra $100 a day because I was outside of my lease. The movers only picked up the sectional, dresser and two night stands and 2 TVs. This for sure was not a 3k job. He couldn't take the 10 boxes that were in the quote which made me spend more money is shipping them to fedex. The mover then tried to upcharge me on everything and stated it would be 6k. I stated no way and whatever could fit in the originally quote to take that. I would like to know how will I be compensated. We were lulled into a false sense of security with this Company after talking with them on the phone. When it came time to pick up our belongings for the move, three (3) movers and a Supervisor were there to insure the safe loading of our belongings. This went very smoothly and we were very happy with the process. Then came the delivery three weeks later in Nevada. No call the night before informing us of the delivery. We got a call at 8:30 at night asking if they could make the delivery. We told them no, and it would have to be after 8:00 the next morning. 8:00am came and went. Got a call that they would be here at 2:00pm. 2:00pm came and went. They showed up at 6:00pm, just two workers and one of the workers 8-10 year old son. One of the workers became sick 10-15 minutes into the unload, so only one worker was unloading our belongings and bringing them up the stairs. After two hours of unloading, the worker had to put 15-20 of our storage containers in our garage as he was dead tired. Now we are an older couple with health issues, and now we have to figure out how to get these boxes up the stairs into our condo. After reviewing what was delivered to us, we determined that we were missing an 6'x7' wall unit, a utility dolly and at least 2-3 storage boxes and we were delivered someone else's broken tv tray. A couple of our plastic storage containers were crushed, a lot of the lock lids were cracked or damaged and a couple of our items were broken. I will never use this Company again, nor would I recommend them. If I could give them zero stars, I would. I hired Rapid Van Lines within one month of my move from Vallejo (Bay Area), CA to Houston, TX and was basically shopping around for value. This move happened during May 2021 to June 2021 when there were a tremendous amount of people moving in one direction (basically out of California). I paid about 2,000$ to move a two bedroom apartment from the Bay Area, CA to Houston, TX (basically about a 2,000 mile move.) Price-wise this move was excellent. Regarding the time to pick-up my things I was given a 3-day window, May-24 through May-26. I called and followed-up on the matter on May 25th (I'm pretty OCD), and was assured that my belongings would be picked-up no later than the next day, May-26, per contract. They kept their word and picked-up everything on time during the afternoon (around 4pm.) They also pretty diligently showed up with 3 movers and handled everything within approximately 2 hours. Regarding delivery I was advised that it could take up to 21 days from my first delivery date, which I provided to them as June-2. As it seemed to me that the time was quickly approaching for them to deliver, I contacted them to follow-up on the matter. They were pretty good about answering the phone and assured me my stuff would be delivered on-time. It was delivered on June-28 (18 business days from the first delivery date which was within their advised 21 days.) They were running short on carrier trucks so they contracted/arranged for an independent mover (Mayzlin Relocation Company in Houston, TX) to deliver with the intention of not breaching their contract, which I thought was pretty nice and responsible. The driver from Mayzlin contacted me the day before to arrange delivery and executed a near-flawless delivery. I did have to pay an additional 600$ long-carry fee due to my apartment complex not being able to accommodate at 18-wheeler truck. I could have asked for a van transfer (for less) but didn't feel like waiting for that. Basically, I thought the truck would fit as this was an oversight of mine and some misinformation from my new apartment complex leasing office (not the fault of Rapid Van Lines.) I could have provided 4-starts, on two points, 1. I lost one box (nothing terribly valuable), 2. a couple of things broke (not a big deal), such as a few wine glasses and kitchen-ware (which I reckon I could have packed better so that would be partly/mostly my fault.) Considering the fact that I got a tremendous deal with no delays in pick-up or delivery and managed to move out of the Bay Area when everyone else was trying to get out of there and willing to pay/actually paying way much more... I couldn't really expect more --- It required a bit of being proactive and calling, following-up, etc. and perhaps another company could have done a slightly better job. HOWEVER, I am EXTREMELY HAPPY with what I got for what I paid (as I started this review I was shopping around for good value) -- WHICH IS THE REASON I LEAVE 5 STARS. There are no words to explain how horrible this company is.  From the day they came to load the truck, we knew we were going to have issues.  The cost went up dramatically from the original quote.  They began shrink wrapping furniture, which I thought was part of the service and then increase the price by $400.  When I complained and said I never asked for that to be done, I was treated with rudeness I have never before encountered.  I have never ever been yelled at and hung up on by a company I am doing business with and paying them a lot of money. Let's talk delivery....I was told it would be between 3-21 days.  When asked what would be the first day I could receive it -- I said 1 week after they picked up because I was moving out east from CA. Well I come to find out that they begin the countdown from that day. I was pleasantly surprised when they called 10 days after pick up to tell me they would deliver that weekend.  They showed up at 9:45 on a Sunday night after I waited all weekend--but was happy they were there and I would be able to get settled.  After looking over a few of the boxes, I realized that it was not mine.  They delivered someone else's belongings.   When we finally were able to contact RVL, they halfheartedly apologized and said that they would expedite my delivery.  Well no such luck.  I checked in with them every day to see if there was an update.  No one could give me a an accurate account of where my things were, when it was scheduled to leave, when it was going to be delivered. Now let's talk customer service.... or should I say the lack of customer service.  I have never ever experienced such a lack of concern for their clients.  Once they sign you up, it's over. One of the employees made it a habit of hanging up on me.  No one could give me a straight answer--just kept getting the run around with no specific information. One person said it was in TN.  another said it was in FL, another said it was in AL.. I was told that that the movers would be there in the morning--no-one showed up. I was told that they would be there in the afternoon -- no-one showed up. No one wold answer my calls or give me a straight answer. Long story short, it took 5 1/2 weeks from the day they loaded my truck to the day they delivered. I spent 5 1/2 weeks without being able to prepare a meal. 5 1/2 weeks sleeping on an air mattress that I had to purchase along with new sheets, blankets  and towels. 5 1/2 weeks of wearing the same clothes over and over again to work. 5 1/2 weeks of no furniture, lamps, tv, etc. The Finally.... the guys who unloaded the truck refused to put together the items that had been taken apart in spite of it being in the contract.  I ended up deducting the amount it will cost me to hire someone to put it back together. You only move so often in your life, so this company has no incentive to provide good customer service, or live up to any moral standard, or the promises they are making on their site.. Once they have your money and your things they have all the leverage and they take advantage of you as much as they can, they know you'll never use them again. this company uses a 'bait and switch' type tactic by luring the customer in with seemingly great reviews (fake) and a low rate, only to double it when they arrive at your house on moving day, saying you had more stuff than they thought. A pro/good company will visit your house and assess your items and give you a quote that can't change. My quote more than doubled. The crew did not wear PPE or follow COVID safety protocols, even though their site says they do. One of the loaders reeked of pot. They arrived in a Budget rental truck, not a semi. I learned after asking that they take your stuff to a remote storage facility and keep it there until they have enough stuff to load on a semi / larger truck going to or near your destination to save on costs. I was initially told it could take up to three days to complete my move, which was only a 4 hour drive away! I was furious and wanted to cancel, but I already paid a deposit, took off work, made the arrangements to move, so I felt I had to pay it and move forward. I regret not listening to my gut, it got worse. they had requested the final balance due prior to unload which they can legally do, but they also ask you to sign you've recieved your goods in great condition..prior to unloading! I signed it with a note next to my signature, "signed prior to unload". They took my payment and unloaded, but as I was checking off my own inventory list, I realized nearly 1/2 of items were missing! Driver called headquarters and Jim, who works there, acknowledged that the rest of my things would arrive the following week. The payments the moving company asks for are non-reversible payment methods, like money orders, zelle app, cash, so I couldn't cancel the payment I made upfront to unload! It took EIGHT weeks and formal complaints to the BBB and the FTB before I got my second delivery, and even then, some items were missing. I learned later via the FTB site that moving companies can only legally ask you to pay for the goods they deliver successfully. So, I had paid in full for NOT all my things, I had no idea if I would ever get the rest of my things, where it was, when I would get it, or why it was delayed. I tried to access my moving estimate and bill of ladeling to understand what went wrong, what my rights were, etc., , but when I clicked on the link, it was now just a blank screen with a one line message acknowledging my move. If you use this company, anything you are asked to fill out or sign, screenshot everything or request an emailed copy right away, read it, and don't move forward with your move until you get it. There is a reason they remove it, In my case, when I asked where my things were, Jim, who works there, yelled at me (no joke..YELLED) that I didn't know what I was talking about and that I didn't read the contract... but I couldn't even access it online? All communication with them, they do on the phone so nothing is documented. go to the federal transportation board website for invaluable tips on what to look for in a fraudulent company, what your rights are, links to finding reputable companies, filing complaints, and checking out any complaints filed with the moving company you are considering. read more

Furniture took almost 2 months to arrive and when finally did arrive many items were destroyed/damaged and several more items did not arrive at all. Beware of this company. If you do decide to use them be sure to inventory all of your items (with those sticky tags) and unwrap everything to inspect for damage. This will save you a lot of grief. I was so happy to finally have my furniture delivered that I did not so that. Never thought that was necessary. It was a devastating experience that caused me a lot of heartbreak and frustration that I had to just let go with no resolution. They have too many loop holes that are impossible to navigate. After picking up my things and loading it on a truck I soon discovered my things are sitting waiting for Rapid to contract out the delivery to another company. Why are they hiring another company to deliver my items if they are a freight delivery company. Now I sit waiting for what could be a month for my items. My nephew moved from California to Tampa. They dropped his stuff off with another company (which did an AMAZING job), however they aren't able to drop the rest of his stuff because this company refuses to pay them. Do NOT use this company. DO NOT HIRE THESE MOVERS...SCAM ALL THE WAY! I am forced to rate them one star...it should be no stars. I don't wan to rate them because they still haven't delivered my belongings and the move was in June of 2021. Items were not delivered but they decided to put our things in storage containers and not tell me where they were. $20,000.00 (they originally told me $10,000.00) and in the heat I had to find and move my stuff myself (I was 69 years of age at the time of this heatwave). Two trucks and the first truck the driver was arrested for Narcotics so our delivery of that truck never took place...it just went into storage (unbeknownst to us). He was in jail for 5 days (approx) and released only to tell my wife that he was in the hospital (you think the moving company would tell you, "Sorry we had to stop your delivery because our driver had to go to the hospital"). When the second truck arrived (late) it was 1/4 empty (we filled two trucks) and when asked where our stuff was the driver said, "In storage." Missing items (such as a brand new Kitchen Aid Mixer, our top load freezer, Yakama Bike Rack...I could go on) as well as damaged items as they opened boxes and stuff things into the storage in any space they could find. If you going to use these people ask them who their BOND is with...you'll never get an answer...we didn't...that was our big mistake! People in Southern California (where we moved from) there's a rental trucking yard in Riverside that has truck abundant and at a very reasonable price. I own a small moving company in Florida, this company contacted mine in desperate need to unload their tractor trailer as their drivers was walking off the job. This was Friday at 6pm, we contacted our guys and they hustled to our warehouse to get it done. They're 4 moves on the tractor trailer that all need to be disbursed throughout Florida, one being almost 300 miles from us but we agree to get the moves completed. We contact the customers and make arrangements for delivery, none of the customers were happy and we food our best to make the remainder of their move as good as possible. The van line upcharged each customer a shuttle fee of $2200. Now after all moves are complete they refuse to pay us. We have paid out labor, fuel, packing materials, and they refuse to pay US! Even after collecting more from the customers... worst kind of moving company that gives the rest of us a bad name.. DO NOT USE read more

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! They are professional scammers. I hired Rapid Van Lines to move us from San Diego to Nashville in July. Greg Connors was the sales rep who did our quote for us. I was extremely specific with what we had and he provided us with a quote of $4000. The company picked up our things on July 21st. They sent a Budget Box Truck to pick up our belongings with a crew of 3 guys. Moe was the head of the crew. Moe ended up quoting us over $3000 over the estimated price after they had already packed away all our things. At this point I was stuck and I had no other alternative to pay. Our first available drop off date for our things was on July 26th. Greg quoted me that it would most likely take 8 to 12 business days for our things to arrive. However, the days went on and our stuff still had not arrived. These people are impossible to get ahold of. Tiffany, Jill, and Trisha in their office never pick up their phone and when you do get them on the line they are absolutely no help. They just say that you signed a contract and that it's not their fault. They have the worst customer service I have ever seen. Our things arrived almost a month after they picked it up on another company's truck. Jim, their head of operations is awful as well. He told me that they were going to have to charge us a $800 shuttle fee because our building didn't have a place for the truck to park. However, our complex has a huge loading dock specifically for trucks to put in. Our bed, dresser, couch, and dishes were all damaged.
