I used U-Pack to move from Northern Indiana to Seattle and had an exceptional experience. The box was delivered on the morning of the scheduled date, and I was able to call around 5:30pm for the box to be picked up the next day after I was done packing it. My box was picked up on a Thursday morning and made it to Seattle by Tuesday. I did check the status (there is not a detailed tracking just when it departs and arrives from your origin and destination locations) and see that my box had arrived in Seattle already. I called the dispatch office in Seattle and was able to get my box delivered the following morning on Wednesday. This was 2 days before my guaranteed delivery date of Friday. I was able to have movers (I used task rabbit) unpack the box on Wednesday and once again called that evening to have it picked back up the next morning, Thursday. This means my entire move from Chicago area to Seattle was about a week, including the drop off and pick up overnight waits. Nothing was broken in my box and I had no issues coordinating with the pick up and drop off workers. For something stressful like a cross country move I appreciated how issue free working with U-Pack was and how efficient they were in timing. For further reference I moved a small 1 bedroom. I will say 1 small box was a bit smaller than I needed and ended up leaving behind my dresser (gifted to a family member). Some tips: I found out at the end of my move you don't need to actually call the dispatch centers you can request pick ups and drop offs through your moving dashboard, I found that the dispatch centers preferred drop off/pick up times around 9am, when you call a dispatch center its important to be clear what step in the move you are on so they can reference the correct tracking number. I hired Upack to deliver a 28ft trailer yesterday Friday to my home for an interstate move cross country. I live in a very hilly ancient dune forest in SW MI. I told them this ahead of time. The driver showed up at my front door without his truck as he would not climb the last two hills to my residence saying he couldn't do it. I told him we have had trucks up there that size many times. We're the 3rd owners of this townhome so how did he think we all moved in there in the first place! He walked back to his truck and just left leaving me totally screwed as I had a team of movers showing up next day. I had to go rent a UHaul and find a driver to take it to AZ which was not easy to do on short notice as we have to be out of the house Monday. Extremely dissatisfied with their service although I've ready great reviews which is why I hired them. read more

Several months ago, I needed to arrange the partial shipment of our household belongings from Indiana to the Phoenix area. From my first contact with the folks in Fort Smith to arrange packing a pod until the time I unloaded it several months later in AZ, everything went extremely smooth and without a hitch. Communications was excellent and everyone involved was extremely professional and helpful ( since I'd never done anything like this). We recently moved from Northern Indiana to the middle of Arkansas. We weren't sure how many "feet" of a trailer we'd need but it was comforting to know we could use as much as we wanted and how much the entire trailer would cost us if we filled it :) Every step was explained to us; what U-Pack would do and when, what our role was..no surprises ! They were great about updating us and when the trailer got to the 'hub', we had some time to arrange folks to help unload before it arrived. The driver, Jay, was amazing and parked it in a tight space to help our crew out ! He was friendly and an amazing driver to work with. Yes, we did our own packing but it was a relief for someone else to deliver our goods when we moved. Good: vibes worked perfectly for what we needed. Empty cubes delivered on time. Good communication from customer service. Not so good: packed cube delivery (which I paid for guaranteed date) was going to be delayed from Friday to Tuesday (after Labor Day) due to the order not be "coded" right in the computer by the main UPack people. The recovery: the manager Shane and his colleagues at the Columbus, OH UPack site somehow found a way to get my cubes to me (at 1:45am! On Saturday!) so I could finish my move on time. This company is a disgrace! We booked a delivery date for moving pods on Friday. Friday night at 8pm they call and tell us the forklift is down they cannot be there till Monday costing us 3 days of packing time! Adding salt to the wound my husband had all kinds of help lined up since he is trying to get here in time for Christmas. They call Monday and tell us the forklift is still broken the best they can do is send us a shared moving trailer (not what we wanted because we cannot move a riding mower in it) but the try and sell on this as though they are saving us $1000 on our move, truth is that this was always $1000 less because it is a cheaper less effective way to move! Not a discount! I call BS on the guy who comes clean and says well I am giving you $200 off the trailer rate. I said so let me get this straight, " you are giving me a $200 discount to make up for loosing 3days of packing time, being forced to leave $1000 mowers behind, and loosing the manpower I had lined up to pack my household, and in addition potentially costing me the ability to have my family together for Christmas and this seems fair to you. He says "well I have already given you $50 more than we would normally give in this situation. I have put myself in your shoes every day for the last 10 years doing this job and we have standards!" Obviously they have extremely LOW standards! The man was snarky and self righteous. Despite my overwhelming attempts to be diplomatic and even sympathetic to their problems. I explain that I was not looking to be moved for free but appropriately compensated for the inconvenience, inability to deliver on the agreed upon goods and loss of property. I am truly disgusted with the indifference that was displayed given the impact this was clearly having on our family as a result of their incompetence! The rating should be negative 5 stars Update to above: it took speaking to a manager (something that I had to argue to achieve) but she was very helpful and offer to ensure the trailer would be delivered in an hour or two, she lowered our base rate by $100 and added an additional $200 flat rate discount and offered to follow up in 2 days to ensure that everything went smoothly. She was pleasant and helpful. Because of her I added a star . However I cannot do any better than that because it to a fight to be able to speak with her. No customer should have to argue to speak with a manager! If I ask politely to speak with your manager the only words to follow should be yes, mame , is there anything else I can assist you with before I make that connection! PERIOD end of discussion! Customer service is a term that has been bastardized by companies with call center! Don't use this service. Items arrived damaged and wet. We used the truck, not the pod. Two lamps destroyed, furniture chipped and recliner wet. Our 65" TV, packed in the original box (including styrofoam) was also wet and the box looked torn open. Spend the extra money on a professional service. i will say that the logistics of the move were fine. Truck showed up an time and delivered on time. read more

I have recently moved from southern CA to western MI, and Upack moving came highly recommended from some friends who used them when they had their cross country move a couple of years ago. I was excited about the prospect of using a company for half the price then moving my stuff on my own through a cross country trip that would have happened in January. When I first got started on the process of the move and finalized my move dates, they were great. The day of the move came and they were late, they never called to inform me that they were going to be late and when their eta would be. I had to call them on my way out of town as I was dealing with a family emergency at the same time. I was not able to be there so I had friends help with the loading of my belongings. When I ordered the upack I was specific in asking for the relocube not the trailer as my needs were not that large on space and money was part of the equation. Once they finally got to where they needed to be, they turned around and left the trailer-which I did not want-they went to make another delivery instead of staying put until the trailer was filled and they could take the trailer to wherever they needed to and move onto the next customer. A week goes by and I check on the status of the vehicle. I see that its in South Bend, IN and I give them a call. The individual that I spoke with was extremely rude and I was giving my information to him and answering his questions. As I had to take a day off work for a delivery that was supposed to happen in the late morning to early afternoon, I was frustrated and getting extremely mad at them. I had to call them way after the slotted time to see when they would be arriving. Upon the call they said that it would be around 9 that I received my items and I said that was fine, but by then I was livid. As soon as I saw the trailer and how far back my items were in the trailer I became even more upset. I had to have a friend help me move my stuff out of the trailer into his garage and we then called Upack to have them pick up the trailer the following day. I would not recommend this company as they do not fullfill what they are asked and they do not call when there is a delay on their end.
