First, she was on the phone when I walked in, no greeting in my direction whatsoever, she proceeded to deny me my own minutes which I purchased awhile back because there were 2 people with my name in the system (no my name is not Jane Smith or Sally Brown). I understand, apparently when I purchased the package it must have been put on the wrong account (which btw had no address or phone number attached) computer mishaps happen. However, I'm a responsible adult with a full-time job who didn't just wake up on a Sunday and decide I wanted to scam the nearest tanning salon out of 15 minutes of bed time. So when she condescendingly denied me access to what I paid for I simply turned around and left. I probably would've tanned for 15 minutes and not returned for another 2 years, but how the way this girl spoke/behaved towards me was simply rude and uncalled for. On another note, this tanning salon shouldn't allow their employees unlimited access to their tanning beds for personal use because they are the face representing their place of employment and this girl was definitely one that didn't represent "everything in moderation" as a healthy example.

Then proceeded to sales pitch me which was done horribly and when I told her I just wanted to use the minutes I paid for so rushed me off to my bed just to get back on the phone again. If that wasn't bad enough, when I was putting my lotion on a cockroach crawled out from under the bed across my foot. There was dry old lotion on the floors and wall and the bed looked liked someone had just tanned in it with sweat marks all over. This was all enough for me to take, I left immediately and I will never go back. That salon used to be clean, not so much anymore. The new faces are rude, they apparently never clean and I'd rather pay higher prices than go through that ever again. Extremely gross!

My friend recommended me to Rowena. I love that her hours are flexible so I was able to come later at night and work around my crazy schedule. Also since it is mid-August and you're supposed to minimize any sweating after, it was better that it was night time. Her website gives good before and after care tips, so I would recommend reading those. If you're new to this like me, Rowena is the sweetest at walking you through everything and making you feel comfortable for the whole process. As for what to wear: think as skimpy as possible. Ladies, you have the option to go topless or even bottomless, depending on your comfort level and how badly you don't want tan lines. You stand in the booth and face different directions as Rowena ensures that you are sprayed evenly. Going home that evening was kind of the funky part because I didn't want to rub/scratch so as to let the tan set as best as possible. The bronzer top layer is very dark and once I got home I looked like an exotic animal. But Rowena had already reassured me that the bronzer will wash off once you shower and not to be alarmed. The next morning after showering and moisturizing I was in awe of my tan. I was the bronziest (word? probably not) I've ever been. In some weird way my color was something I could never achieve by laying out at a pool or beach, yet still looked wonderfully natural. How that worked I'm still trying to figure out myself. I was very much in love with the results and now I get how some people make this process a habit.
