Communication between Jarrett and his team including the service tech and secretary was so sporadic. They started by looking at our home for possible mold remediation issues and the tech who came to our home said we could do it ourselves but told us he had to call his boss Jarrett and he shared a lot of things we did not need done. Unfortunately the two other companies we reached out to for mold remediation were not helpful so we moved forward with Protech but once our insurance was involved everything changed. The price changed and the communication was horrible. Jarrett even emailed the claims adjuster saying that "I was calm now" because he spoke with me when really the insurance could barely get a hold of him or his company to get information either. He was so unprofessional. His secretary was very kind and when I refused to speak with Jarrett over the phone she did not push me almost like she understood and this wasn't the first time that had happened. The work they finally did took forever and they left the large fans in our home for almost a week instead of overnight then charged us extra for it. The piece was so inflated and the work was bare minimum. We even decided to have a different construction company finish the job and close the holes Protech made to remediate the mold. We had a major, HAZMAT-type flood in our basement, and they responded _within the hour_ with a full team. They resolved everything, from setting up in four inches of water on Tuesday afternoon, to draining, disinfecting and removing the last of their equipment from a fully bone-dry basement, on Friday morning. All I had to do was open the door and point to the problem. Bryan explains everything and does exactly what he says he will do; on, time, as priced, and FAST. He is able to reduce what looks and feels like a disaster to an almost trivial issue; I could feel my blood pressure dropping just talking to him that first day. I wish I knew the names of everyone on his crew, but to name just two, Ryan and Josh are just as professional as the rest of their teammates and their boss. My experience was a negative in that, in my opinion, they will upcharge and then negotiate down with the insurance company. This added another level of stress for us in an already difficult situation. The initial work was good, Dean was thorough and professional, but I should have noticed something was not right because, during the demo, they wanted to rip out our tile floor (we're on a slab) but there was no evidence that water had gotten that far, Dean just said "well, your insurance will pay to replace it" but I said no because it DIDN'T NEED TO BE DONE! Once the work was done, he became a bit difficult - would not give all the info my adjustor requested, which caused a delay in our re-construction because he then needed to do an in-person inspection due to the lack of info from Dean. This put our start date out (coming up to the holidays) which ended up delaying our construction into and past Christmas. I had also asked to be copied on all correspondence with my insurance, but that didn't happen, I finally had to get firm with them and got copied on all the invoicing. Initially, we had a $5000 difference in what was billed vs. what the insurance would agree to - a third party review decided that the small amount of mold that had started to grow (we caught the leak early) did not rise to the category charges that Resto 1 was charging, so we were looking at having to pay the difference out of pocket. Ultimately, they all agreed to meet in the middle and we were left whole but it was not a good experience. So, I suggest that you monitor ALL of their activities, take lots of pictures and document what work they do (or don't do) so you have some ammunition should you run into a similar situation.
