We had done small updates as some windows were replaced, storm damage forced a few more. We wanted to prevent more water damage in this very exposed to the west location in Boulder which also happens to be on a steep slope. It really needed a professional company with experience and good equipment. I watched Jacobsen staff doing a nearby house in the summer of 2024 and the team seemed polished and the finished looked good on a more historic house than mine. Jacobsen has been around in Boulder since the 50s and the. Second generation of this family business is nearing retirement. I also got the names, from friends, of 2 other local companies who had done similar homes in this part of Boulder. But Jacobsen's trucks are around more frequently so I called them first. Our house is a mix of eras, which makes it hard to appear cohesive in plan. But that was what I wanted to try to do, with quality paints that could last decades. One part of the house is unpainted brick from 1950. Another part is stucco from 1978. The windows in the oldest part had been replaced in the early 2000s. The wood windows from 1978 were rotting and 2 were replaced in recent years with metal clad that look like wood. The stucco from 1978 was cracked, crumbling off some areas, like the chimney. Jacobson staff worked with us plan to get these sections to blend and without painting the brick which not only increases the price a lot, opens another "can of worms." We ended up painting the old windows to mimic the new clad windows and that look was very successful. We changed the stucco and other trim to a fresher more modern look from the 70s and 90s earth tones to a current shades of gray. Mark Jacobsen and the production manager Josh visited a few times to work out the plan. We picked a date in early fall as we had already contracted to remove some poorly placed flammable trees, a real concern in Boulder. Since the price, the plan and the date worked great for all of this, we moved forward after Labor Day. The team that did all the repairs were amazing. The stucco specialist rebuilt the finish of the chimney and and a damaged area near a gutter and downspout. The paint prep team did an amazing job with the trim, the old windows, and door. Two other doors had been done a few years ago and worked well with the new color scheme. The two painter team was amazing. With a dozen ladders, they competently addressed every level of the house from every angle. They were on time every day and worked solidly through each day until thunderstorms chased them out in late afternoon. They were always safe in this concern. Friendly, polite and organized, it was a pleasure to have them here. And they worked well together with lots of cooperation. Best kind of results when there in no friction within the work group. All in all, we are very pleased. Yes, this sort of work is a fairly expensive project but well worth the result and long future of the house. It is quieter in the rain and wind, it just feels "finished" for the first time in decades.

I had numerous pieces of siding that was just rotting or falling apart, and the house also needed painting. The estimate was reasonable and comprehensive. I can't recall ever having a contractor keep me so well informed about the progress of my project. Prior to the start of work I was continually updated. Once work began I saw Ryan daily where he would ask if I had problems or questions. In the very beginning there was a minor bump, and in hindsight, I got slightly more irate than I should have, but Ryan kept his cool throughout my rant until I was done, and then he suggested we go look at the problem. Ryan saw right away what I was talking about and man oh man, he got people right on it and problem fixed quickly, and it looks fantastic. Turns out some of my wood was damaged because the builder did not install flashing where it should have been and the elements did their thing to it. Ryan saw this on his intial walk around and the problem is now corrected. This is the attention to detail I love because I wouldn't have known about missing flashing. Thanks Mayday. The crews are thorough, conscientious, and always kept their areas neat. When finished you couldn't tell anyone had been there working. When Ryan came by first time to do an estimate he listened, envisioned what I wanted, and told me he was going to bring my home back to its former glory. Mission accomplished Mayday. Materials are premium, installed and applied by pros. I realize this review is fairly long but I feel it necessary because I just get tired sometimes trying to find a reputable contractor, but when I do I think everyone should know about it.
