I know I had written a review of this supermarket at a previous time, but I'm not seeing it. So, this review of Randall's in the "South Bay" is a fresh one as opposed to an update. I read reviews of supermarkets in general and see that people are going off based on one interaction or one experience with merchandise. Except for some bargain type supermarkets in sketchy neighborhoods where they are probably conditioned and instructed to view everyone with suspicion, this negativity does not come my way at most chain supermarkets. Randall's is part of the Safeway family of supermarkets which also includes Safeway (obviously), Vons, and Dominick's, whose catchment area I'm not familiar with. That said, I went in here and ... badda bing ... my Safeway club card worked. The price points of their items are just like those of Safeway and Vons. They are in the mid-range, with some items featured at good prices. That's why you should read your supermarket flyers ... to find those items. I have bought things from the aisles here but, at this location, I have mostly eaten sandwiches from their deli. Now, while they don't have the excellent spread of sandwiches like Safeway (and Vons) had up on their sandwich board about a decade ago, such as the tender Tuscan chicken and hearty meatloaf sandwiches, you can't complain about a nicely decked out, custom made sandwich for $ 5.99. It's practically a complete meal. I could go with a 3 or a 4 with this Randall's. Yes, the employees come in at about a 3. I won't go into detail. Their merchandise and its prices come in at about a 4. How manicured the shopping center, the parking, the circulation to the major streets, and the neighborhood are make for about a 5. The store itself looks like a 4 from the outside but, then, once inside, it doesn't have the higher ceilings that the exterior seems to suggest. Overall, this Randall's is a much better than average supermarket in a very nice area. read more

Randall has a limited selection. The prices are higher than other stores in the area and to even get near a savings you have to have a digital coupon so you have to go through a hassle to save money. Normally, I shop H-E-B and come here for a few items if I need to get out real quick since I live right behind this location. But now it's gonna be an even better value if I just go to H-E-B better selection, better quality and way better value read more

Randall's is a decent grocery store for sure. In fact, Randall's helped to spawn an end to the Cold War back in the 1980s (Google "Boris Yeltsin tours Houston supermarket.") That said, the price point here is hardly conducive to bringing about a free economy to anyone that works hard for an average salary. Yes, Randall's is the 'Lord and Taylor' of grocery stores as far as prices go. My 15-pack of Coors Light cost more than $24 here. That's $5 more than HEB or Walmart. Produce here is also exceptionally high in price. Still, this Randall's is clean and well stocked. It is also the only grocer in the area that carries Dietz & Watson deli products, albeit not enough of them. I will patronize this location when I need something that other grocers don't carry (e.g., rutabagas), but I will stick with my HEB for everything else. read more

So I moved to the area recently, and, like most people forget certain ingredients come dinner time. I have frequented to the store on multiple occasions as a last resort because I forgot something. I will be honest when I tell you four out of five times picking up last minute produce here has always been a headache. I find a lot of their produce to be moldy, and hard to find. When it comes to service here, it's been mediocre at best. I much prefer the self check out however, even then their employees stand right over you and make you feel uncomfortable. At that point I feel you might as well open up another register to make checking out faster. When checking out at the register, I've only had one nice older lady that wish me a good day, and had a smile on her face . I love the new Starbucks that they have put in here, but I think those upgrades could've went more towards the store itself, and making it more accessible for produce. I will continue to come here only for last resort, and complete convenience of the store being so close to home . If I have time, I will continue to support other grocery stores that have better service, and better produce. read more

Just came to purchase some water and snacks for my hotel room. Prices were good and the store seemed like a Safeway back home. They took my phone number so it must be related to a grocery store back home. They had a large selection of pastries and I picked up a package of bearclaws, as they are my favorite. They were okay, nowhere near the quality of the bearclaws at Panera, but they served my purpose. A quick trip, found things easily as they were in a systematic location for me to find them. Recommend a visit here if you need groceries. read more

Giving 3 stars because this grocery store has constantly higher prices than all other area grocery stores since the 90's. Helps to shop their sales circulars for current deals. However, the store is clean, presents well, has good product selection, and the employees are helpful and courteous. Stopped in to pick up a few things on the way to a friend's house. She loves chicken fettuccini Alfredo (and was hungry) so I purchased some from their deli section and it was fabulous. Definitely will purchase again. read more

Yelp really needs a zero star option. I don't know if they are thrives or just dumb. They put in the wrong produce code. I told them and they voided it and did the same thing again. There was a big line waiting so I let it go. At this point it's simpler and less expensive to drive the few extra minutes to go to HEB. read more

Ok so Randalls might not be the cheapest place to buy groceries overall. That said if you use their Just For U app you can get some crazy good deals. There deli is top notch, produce is fresh and impressive(although not cheap). The floral department rivals any florist with great prices on flowers that don't look like they came from a grocery store. The ladies in the floral department are so helpful and friendly. The store is so clean and the meat department is top notch with butchers who can get you whatever you need. All in all it is a top notch grocery store. It may cost a little more but you do get what you pay for read more

Positives: Relatively clean and organized. Negatives: A Randall's card is required, and even then they play an ever changing game of quantity limits for the sales prices. If an item is on sale, you're basically being gouged if you violate the limit (e.g. 25% more than average instead of 25% less). This makes shopping there a game of week to week guesswork. Icky: Due to Covid-19, if a limit gets past you or the cashier tells you wrong, they'll refuse all refunds for the indeterminate future (aka no refunds). Takeaway: Not terrible, but consider a place that doesn't play games with sales (to the extent they exist). read more

I have been super impressed with the Drive Up &Go service at the Marina Bay Randall's! You put your order in and they always have it ready before the scheduled pick up time----often hours early! If something is out of stock, they always call with substitutions that meet or exceed the original request (and give you the lowest price!) Joy, the day Drive-up Manager is a complete joy to work with---always smiling and helpful! P.S. This store also has the best floral department around!!! They will custom design something for you and the flowers are always fresh and very reasonably priced! Great job Randall's!! read more

Labor Day weekend was coming up so I hit their website to look over any possible steak specials. I was pleased to see thick cut T-Bone steaks (family pack of three) were on sale for $4.99 a pound. I stopped on my way home from work on Friday and picked up what I thought was three beautiful looking steaks. Experienced steak buyers will tell you that when buying a T-Bone you want to make sure the butcher doesn't skimp on the tenderloin side like they so often do. The steaks were laid in the package slightly overlapping. The top one in my package had a huge tenderloin side and I was sold. When the time came to prepare them I discovered that it was only the top one had a tenderloin side. The other two steaks had nothing. I might as well been buying bone-in ribeyes. I thought this was just bad luck on my part so I went and bought another package of them (since $4.99 a pound bone-in ribeyes isn't a bad deal either) and it was the exact same thing. Huge tenderloin cut on the top one and the two that were overlapped had nothing. This is a deceptive business practice and I will no longer be buying meat from Randall's. Thank God a new H-E-B is about to open not too far down the road. read more

My first time coming here, I think I may have had one of the most embarrassing experiences of my life. So I've been dating this guy for a little while and things have been going good so far. I did warn him that I'm a particularly clumsy individual, but publicly, this feat must have been my most impressive clumsy feat of all. The lay out of this Randall's is weird. I remember turning the cart and pushing it through two of those refrigerated mid aisle meat displays and randomly, in the most odd and obscure place, there were two small cardboard display cases that contain of all things... decorative icing. Yes... right next to the beef. Weird. So of course I wasn't expecting that the display cases that were below eye level would be there and I knocked them over... both of them... and everything came spilling out. Now, this was very early on in our relationship, so I instantly panicked and assumed this would be the deal breaker, and that my boytoy wouldn't want to be associated with me any more. Instead, he laughed it off, helped me put the display cases back up, and assured me no one saw a thing (though I'm sure plenty of people did). The set up here is extremely weird. I thought it was odd that the bakery was in the front of the store along with all their bread, and the produce was after that. They need to utilize their produce section better. There are random diamond shaped produce tables in the produce area that are spread out wide. If they set it up to fashion aisles instead of wasting all that space, they could offer a little more variety with their produce. I honestly can't say they provided much of a selection for anything. I saw a lot of brands for certain products were missing. Also, there were gourmet cheeses out next to the produce, but you had to go all the way back to the left corner of the store to find the rest. I just found that to be so incredibly odd. read more

This is for the Starbucks inside the store... It can get semi-busy waiting in line to order, and unfortunately most of the baristas are pretty slow :( Their biggest redeeming factor is the barista Amanda. For some reason, she manages to make the best drinks over any other Starbucks I go to in the area. EVERY SINGLE TIME. She is extremely quick and always has a great attitude, and seems very genuine and extremely nice every time I go in there, (which is a lot because my work uses the bank inside and we do daily deposits). I feel like I have to be fair and mention that I do always bring in an order for 3-6 of my coworkers as well as myself. To management: don't lose Amanda because she is seriously the best employee you've got over there!! read more

I've shopped here regularly as this location is very convenient. Unfortunately, my last 2 times shopping for my week's groceries ended up in my returning for refunds on items that I was overcharged for. In 1 week, over 2 shopping trips, I had a total of 8 items that rang up at the regular price instead of the Randall's "card price", and 3 produce items that the cashier entered incorrectly. This came to almost $11 refunded to me. I had the same customer service person assist me both times, and she was apologetic. My advice is to always check your receipts!!!! read more

All I can say good about this store is that it's close to my house and the meat is good quality. The service in this store especially at the meat counter is awful, bell doesn't work and if you try to get their attention they act like your bothering them, been to the store twice this week and the first time they were out of filets, second time they were out of items, I asked how long until they have it? Shrugged his shoulders and told me, when they make them (jalapeño poppers and stuffed mushrooms) Randall's is considerably more expensive than most of the stores around. Needed fresh flowers for a Bridal Shower over Mother's Day weekend. After searching around, we decided on Randall's and the flowers were GORGEOUS, the floral department staff was incredibly helpful and accommodating. We even needed additional flowers the day prior to the event and they were able to quickly help us with another batch of perfect blooms. 100% recommend this Randall's and will be going back to them for any future flowers.
