However, the flavors were definitely there, which is what matters most. I tried the alcapurria, and while it was decent, I've had better. The chicken inside was a little dry and could have used more seasoning and flavor. On the other hand, the chicken empanada was really good. The chicken was tender, flavorful, and had a nice seasoned taste that stood out. That's definitely something I would order again. Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures of my lunch, but I also ordered pernil with rice and gandules, as well as baked chicken with rice and gandules. As someone who loves pernil, I have to say that Puerto Ricans make some of the best pernil. It's always well-seasoned, flavorful, and tastes clean rather than overly greasy. The pernil here did not disappoint. The rice and gandules were also very good. While it doesn't quite compare to my husband's aunt's homemade version, it was still packed with flavor and complemented the meal perfectly. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and would come back to try more items from the menu. If you're in the area and craving Puerto Rican food, I think it's worth giving this place a try.

Love this place!! Great service! Amazing delicious home made food!…read more I read about this on IG. I decided I must go that same day. Easy to find and not far from my house. The first time I ate there. It felt as I walked in to a relatives house. The ladies behind the counter were eager to take my order. I got Yellow rice, pernil, yuca, stewed chicken, pastels de plantano, beef empanada and a coco loco. I was in my glory. As much as I tried I couldn't finish it all. I took the leftovers home. I returned the next day after for more. 2 days later I returned again. Week later I returned again. The menu changes I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything . The finest Home cooked meal I ever had in a long time. Definitely recommend it!!

My taco de tripa tasted kind of burnt. The elote was alright and guac seriously lacked salt. My friends felt their food was mediocre as well. The service was good and the restaurant was very clean and spacious.

The restaurant was nearly empty, with only one other couple dining at the time. Shortly after we sat down, I noticed one of the cooks open the front door of the restaurant, look directly at us, throw his hands up in frustration, and begin mumbling under his breath. He then started moving large boxes into the restaurant. Since I speak Spanish, I understood some of what he was saying. He complained that there were plenty of other seats available and questioned why we had chosen to sit where we were. As I looked more closely, I realized the mirrors beside our table were actually sliding doors to a storage area. It became clear that he was upset because my wife and I were seated in front of it. Had someone simply approached us and politely asked us to move, we would have gladly done so. Instead, the cook continued making comments under his breath and staring at us while moving boxes. Once he finished, he walked past our table, gave me a dirty look, and called me a vulgar name in Spanish ( cara de mierda). At that point, I stood up and asked him, in Spanish, to repeat what he had said. Rather than addressing the situation, he immediately walked into the kitchen and refused to come back out. At that point, I no longer felt comfortable having my food prepared by someone who had just openly insulted me and my pregnant wife. We decided to leave without ordering. This was especially disappointing because we have visited before and always enjoyed the restaurant. Unfortunately, the way this situation was handled was completely unprofessional and has likely cost them two longtime customers.

I walked in and two super nice young ladies were making and serving the food. I appreciated that I was greeted right away and my order taken right away. If Yelp had star options for both the food and the service, I definitely would have given them 4 or 5 stars. I almost always go completely overboard when I try a place the first time. I picked up almost $80 worth of takeout so that I could try a little bit of everything. I really, really wanted to love the food here but I didn't. Unfortunately I didn't really find anything that I ordered that flavorful. The food wasn't bad by any means, it just didn't have the delicious flavors that I normally associate with great Puerto Rican food. As I mentioned it was an unbelievably hot day so maybe the cook was having an off day because of that. If I'm ever driving by there, I'd probably give it another chance since it has such great reviews from other people.
