Today I decided on my way home to look for a nice Cuban place to have some Cuban food. I'm doing so I came across Cuban Café . If this was in Cuba, everyone would be arrested by Castrohimself. The food was very simple. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. I really personally don't like to give a bad review but I'm not gonna give a place a good review that doesn't deserve it. I'm sorry I'm a chef for 30 years in my life. I have sweated blood and tears in many kitchens and many major famous events to lower myself to lying. I will not lie about a business no be vindictive and try to hurt any business, but this place really sucks. I ordered two papaya drinks made with milk. They brought me two papaya drinks made with water big difference on taste sorry. So obviously, they don't pay attention to the customer what they ordered. They just bring whatever they want. I'm looking in the menu I didn't see any of the main courses on the menu at all so I look over and I see all the food displayed on the counter. OK no nothing to tell me what it is but being Cuban I do know what it is, but my wife didn't know. So I went back to my table, sat down, and I ordered rice and beans with yuca and pork The pork was very fatty. It was nothing to brag about. I waited a half hour for the food, not bad if it was a major restaurant that was packed, and the food had to be cooked But in this case, it was pure laziness the food was there warm everybody in the hotel pans the steam table Then I have to wait another 15 minutes to order another papaya drink and I made sure they put milk in it because my wife does not like it with water at the wait another 15 minutes for that Two guys were Marachi singers walked in started playing the guitar and all the workers started cheering them on. OK fine why you can't work why not cheer them on? They have nothing better to do I mean he take their time serving their customers So I had to go to the bathroom stupid me did not check for toilet paper in the dispenser. I got done no toilet paper now I'm really angry put my pants on. You can imagine with my underwear thank God for underwear at this point so I grabbed napkins because I asked the lady for toilet paper before I told her there's no toilet paper in the bathroom. She said we have no one to go to the store They didn't offer me napkins I had to grab The ones from my table. I went back and did what I had to do. I left a handle of the sink so I could put it on Luke warm water put my hands on to wash them. I scolded my hands because the handle was stripped, or you can turn it on and off it was on hot, so my hand I'm heated I go back to the table now, guys asking for money off of everybody that sitting down the singers . This is solo class you allow outside guys to come in play guitars and then shake down your customers for money that really got me mad. I gave them two dollars told them to F off. I'm waiting minutes For my check. I waited another 20 minutes now it's 40 minutes. I finally yelled and told I need my check. I got her attention when I got everybody's attention. I have a very deep loud voice. Another 15 minutes on top of that I finally got the check I know the place was not that busy. They had plenty of workers not working. I put the money in the waiters pad my closed it now I'm waiting for the lady. I finally had to get up and hand it to her. It was ridiculous. She didn't even look like she appreciated the tip. I didn't appreciate her lousy service and it was like a young punk kid, but I did notice about the Place as I went to the bathroom there was no Cuban cooking that food. It was all Mexican. I have nothing against Mexicans, but if you're gonna cook Cuban food and I walk in there to eat, you better make me feel like I'm eating Cuban food not cat food I have 30 years experience on my belt have my degree in culinary arts and applied science major event famous people worked in great restaurants and I was taught by many great chefs. I always believe if you taste good food to the hole in the walls, but I fell into a hole in the floor this place is not going to a failure in my eyes was horrific. It was the worst of it kind. The food was nothing to talk about and they're very unorganized and they look like they did not even know what they were doing and they were walking around and being entertained they really didn't pay attention to any other customers Idiots I wouldn't be surprised that this place eventually will be sold and closed down lot of business. The place needs all new trained staff and a good manager or an owner that knows how to conduct business. Like I said as a chef, I will not lie and I'm a retired. Chef. I will not give credit to anyone that doesn't deserve it. No way I give this restaurant a minus F for failure.

I only did a DoorDash delivery but had to write a review because it deserved 5 stars. The taste is robustly flavorful and I can definitely see myself ordering from this place again.

Authentic, tasty and the biggest challenge faced here is what to order. SO many wonderful dishes. Prices are reasonable and the dining area is comfortable . Staff were friendly. Coffee was excellent. The Cuban sandwich was tasty and packed with flavor. We split two of their pastries that were light and a perfect end to a great meal.

    The Best Cuban Sandwich

As a person who grew up on La Pola Cuban sandwiches from West New York in Hudson County, this is an awesome alternative. I can't say if it's better because it's been years since I've been there, and I just found out it has since closed. So for today (National Cuban Sandwich Day, August 23rd), I went on a mission to get it near me. This place did not disappoint, and I'm so happy I discovered them! The sandwich is $10 each, and for dinner later, I got the Ropa Vieja. They gave me a very nice portion, which can easily be for two people, at $15, you can't go wrong. The ambiance is very neighborly, authentic, and the ladies behind the counter were attentive, fast, and the place looked clean, even where the food is, which is great. Sometimes Latin restaurants can look like they cook with a whole lot of grease, but I can attest this place is definitely not one of them, which is great. Overall, I can assure I will definitely be coming back to get some of that house cooking I sometimes miss from home.

Liked this place and their service a lot! Came here to try the food and it felt like home when I walked in. The woman behind the counter was nice and polite to me as I clearly didn't understand how to order, even though there were people behind me. When she told me to-go orders are taken at the hot bar I headed there and the man behind the hot bar was so nice. He explained what may go well with what, even though I had an idea of what I wanted. I got pork with plantains and mashed yuca then another one was the oxtail which was BOMB with some peas and rice and plantain. Both meats were so tender and fell off the bone. The plantains where sweet and tasty, and the yucca was good, I never had it mashed so that was a nice surprise. Would definitely recommend and would come again.

Food was amazing. Authentic Cuban cuisine packed with flavor in every bite. It was so good I had to take some home with me. Excellent customer service, the staff was extremely warm and inviting. Very cozy and clean establishment. I would totally recommend them to others and can't wait to come back again!

Chunks of meat called "ropa vieja" at this restaurant. Called chunks of tough beef at my house.
    Jennifer B.

I ordered for the very first time here tonight. It was my night off to cook, so I used a gift card I received for Christmas. The total amount was over $50. I got two orders of "ROPA VIEJA" and a side order of boiled yucca. The ropa vieja was tough and not shredded like ropa vieja usually is. I had to cook my mom a different meal because of this- so much for a night off of cooking. When I called the restaurant, they couldn't find a manager, I guess, but the lady told me to call tomorrow because she couldn't find the cook. She mentioned the cook was new, which doesn't surprise me. What a sad representation of ropa vieja which is usually so thinly shredded that it melts in your mouth. Not this meat- it was hard and there wasn't much sauce. It looks NOTHING like the pictures. Worse part is I ordered two dinners of this. I will NEVER order from here again, and I want a manager to come eat this food. If I wasn't twenty minutes away, I would bring them this meal and let them work through the tough hard meat and let me know if this is how they want their restaurant to be remembered. It's a CUBAN cafe- the seasoning wasn't even Cuban-style and it's supposed to cook Cuban food with expertise. I am very annoyed and hungry because I threw it out. One other thing - On Yelp, it even says they substituted the meat for ropa vieja one day when they ran out. I believe this is probably the case here. DO BETTER!!!!!!! You guys should've canceled the order rather than give me subpar rendition of this dish. P.S. the frozen veggies are terrible....like school carrots.... And I tried calling before I made these reviews. I find it hard to believe there was absolutely no one that could get on phone w me to discuss this.
