We had our wedding here in September of 2024 and had the best time! They had recently done a ton of upgrades to the property. All of the beds are SO comfortable, our guests were super comfy and rooms/property were clean upon arrival. The host was so helpful with our entire wedding weekend and was available in case things went wrong. We had a breaker go out upstairs while all the bridal party was getting ready that was fixed within the hour. The toilets did get backed up a few times over the weekend, some were able to be fixed while others became unusable but overall we had enough for the wedding event. Just a note since the house is older, I guess this happens often there. The property fit our 100 guest wedding perfectly. We also had 40 guest stay on site and everyone fit with plenty of room. The main house is huge and the parlor room and theater are awesome! We did our ceremony in the backyard our reception down on the big deck in the backyard. We brought outside vendors for all our chairs but the host had round tables and an ice machine available for us which was amazing!! (Photos below of round tables). We also had vendors come for catering without any issues. You do need to get event insurance if you book for a wedding but that's standard practice. I am a wedding planner coming in from a nearby county and so this was my first time at this venue. They recently got new ownership within the last few months, and they have been actively fixing it up. Within two months so much had changed that these other reviews i see don't even come close to the experience i had! this was one of the most beautiful venues i have worked at. The space provides a really familial vibe for the party & it was so much fun. Everything was clean, organized, and things were easy to find. The property manager is on site and responded very quickly. He checked in on the event several times. He was always keeping up with client requests prior to the wedding and always had a smile on his face. I definitely recommend this venue if you are looking for a very "homey" feel to your wedding experience. read more

First off, I want to start by saying people come to yelp to share their experiences. As a yelp elite and someone who takes pride in sharing my experience truthfully, to state that someone is lying on their review, even though they have photos of the facilities proving that they stayed there, is unacceptable and fishy to say the least. I'll leave it at that. Second, things happen but when people bring up concerns to you, as a property manager it is your responsibility to fix and address those concerns and ultimately come to an agreement with your customer... not threaten legal action on them if they choose to exercise their first amendment rights by sharing their experience so others don't have to suffer in the same manner. Third - here comes my actual review based on the experience I had. I stayed at this venue as a guest for a wedding in October of this year. We stayed here a total of 5 days. On top of dirty floors, broken doors and cabinets, missing window screens, and mouse traps in closets, the venue in general needs A LOT of work - you can tell that any fixes that have been made were surface level bandage fixes... There are structural issues with this property (inside and outside) beyond falling cabinets. The outside area of this venue is beautiful, particularly by the trees; however the deck and wood work needs to be rehabbed - it was bouncing like crazy when guests were on the dance floor and at times the wedding party was worried it could collapse (luckily it didn't, but truly feels like a matter of time before it does). Additionally the kitchen was missing a ton of appliances that an Airbnb/venue should have. The AC in one of the mobile homes went out two nights in a row... in 90 degree weather, this is unacceptable. The property manager will state that they responded in a timely manner, but 17 hours before the on-site maintenance fixes it is not a timely manner when it comes to sleeping in that dry heat 90 degree weather (especially since the maintenance is ON-SITE)... and the fact that it happened two nights in a row was unacceptable. Additionally there were broken toilet seats in both the mobile home and in the main home... and the BIGGEST issue (like the other review stated) were bed bugs - the guests that stayed in the downstairs basement bedrooms in the main house had BED BUGS. 4 of my friends left with BITES all over their body - we have photos to prove it but for the sake of not making you sick or losing your sanity I won't post them. My friends tossed their entire suitcases with all its belongings to ensure they didn't bring the bed bugs into their homes - hundreds, if not thousands of dollars worth of belongings thrown away due to neglectful venue owners/property managers. DO NOT stay here - yes the outside area of this property is beautiful, but this place truly does not feel up to code, the pictures are deceiving, the venue is old and uncared for, the location is very difficult to get to, they have a bed bug infestation that they continue to dismiss when you raise the issue, and ultimately the people taking care of this place don't care about your experience - if you're getting married, the experience on your wedding day and the experience of your wedding guests is the MOST important factor when aiming to create a fun and memorable wedding, and ultimately this place will let you down since they don't care about their customers. read more

Truthful Comments from the Mother-of-the-Groom: To start, it is important to know that the venue is in a very remote location, far from stores, food, etc. Getting there is no small feat, and the unlit, gravel, curvy road is not fun. If all the guests are staying there, and you are equipped with all the necessities, the location might not be an issue. Plan accordingly. We had a wine tour bus that could not get all the way to the home, which wasn't a huge deal, but validates my point. The website for the venue looks amazing. Unfortunately, the photos are obviously from years ago, and they greatly misrepresent the current condition and amenities of this home. When we entered the home, we were initially impressed by the architecture, etc., but we quickly saw how tired the furnishings looked and that it was not clean. There were broken curtains, cracked tiles, broken toilets, minimal supplies, etc. The outdoor patio and stairs were scary to navigate with uneven tiles, missing railings, etc. Watch Grandma. Outside, we were shocked by the lack of maintenance. The pool was dirty and filled with leaves, the lawn furniture was broken, faded and disheveled. The patio was covered with leaves, branches, etc. It terrified us think we were having a wedding here in a couple of days. The tennis court surface (probably nice back in the day) was peeling and sad. The bocce court and grounds were overrun with bushes and weeds. The gym, ha! The point is - it was nothing like it was described. Then there was the"True Chef's Kitchen-Fully equipped." OMG! As the M-O-G, we had planned to feed several people over the next few days, but it was a complete joke. NEVER have I rented a venue, VRBO, Airbnb, etc. with such an inadequate kitchen. There was ONE tiny, warped frying pan, a couple of beat up, mismatched saucepans, and not a single cookie sheet. The refrigerator was grungy, and there was food in a drawer from previous renter. I found one (1) kitchen towel, and one (1) kitchen trash bag. Unbelievable! Keep in mind, the nearest is store is a long way away, and we paid A LOT for this venue. Other issues. They would not heat the pool because we did not give them advance notice (huh?), and the remote control for the hot tub was held by the caretaker. We had to text her to turn it on when we wanted to use it. We immediately complained to the property manager. The caretaker came by and attempted to help us. She brought some more trash bags and towels (battered-like something from a car wash). She said that she would get us some pots and pans, which she did a couple days later. A crew came to clean up the outside grounds and the pool. Upon departure, I walked around to ensure everything was done for check out. That is when I found, dirty underwear (not ours) coated in dust under a bed, dirty mattresses without mattress pads (see photo), and a garbage smelling guest house whose air conditioner was broken (and reported). Two couples (one in the guest house/one in the main house) got bug bites/bed bugs. This is 100% the truth. At the end of the day, we managed to put together a lovely outdoor wedding for a beautiful couple, but it was extremely stressful having to manage these basic issues. Further, it is ridiculous that we had to. We felt completely ripped-off, as the venue didn't even come close to what was advertised. In summary: While the venue's website presents an alluring picture, the actual experience fell significantly short of expectations. Despite efforts by the caretaker to address some concerns, the overall condition of the property, from the outdated amenities to the cleanliness and maintenance issues, was far from satisfactory. Hosting a wedding here required substantial effort to rectify numerous shortcomings. The discrepancy between the advertised features and the reality of the venue's condition makes it difficult to recommend for any special event or stay. Prospective renters should approach with caution and thoroughly verify the state of the property before making any commitments. I would NEVER rent this place again. read more

BEAUTIFUL!!! i felt like i was in another country. So this is what it feels like to live in a mansion or be rich??!! LOL This home is perfect for a mini family vacation, wedding, parties, etc. Weddings would be beautiful out here. Your entire family and friends can fit in this lovely home. It also comes with two guest homes with 5+ rooms. Includes a pool, large patio, theater, amazing view of the country side, JUST BEAUTIFUL! One day when i get married and if i have the money i am sooooo getting married here with all my family and close friends. However, its an adventure driving out here on the dirt rocky roads. I was praying for my prius to make it through ha! Its not far from home... if you're in southern Cali. Definitely worth a trip out here. They may offer you a discount, but it's really so there is no 3rd party to hold them accountable for their shortcomings.** This house is pretty in the pictures; but my stay to attend my friend's wedding was much different than advertised. First, this house has bedbugs and the owner denies it!!!! Multiple people who stayed in the basement woke up with bed bug bites all over their bodies and found bed bugs in their suitcases after they went home. Second, the house was dirty. The floors inside weren't swept; anyone walking around barefoot or in socks had dirt caked into their feet. I found dirty women's underwear in my bedroom. And my room was covered in bugs and cobwebs. Sure, the house is located in the mountains and there are going to be some bugs around. But this was beyond an occasional spider or beetle. Every time I went into my room I found 5+ new insects. If you're going to stay in this house, I recommend keeping your suitcase closed throughout your entire stay. Third, the ads for this house are full of exaggerations and misrepresentations. Upon our arrival the theater room wasn't properly set up so we couldn't use it until someone came to fix it. The "gym" consists of a peloton (without any cycling shoes), an ancient cardio machine that was dusty and looked like it hadn't been used in years. The AC broke at one point and everyone was roasting in one of the guesthouses. Furniture throughout the house was damaged or broken. And the hot tub wasn't heated when we showed up. This isn't in their ad, but apparently you have to request the pool and hot tub be heated multiple days in advance of your arrival. If you book this home - you've been warned! read more

DO NOT STAY HERE. This was the worst experience trying to celebrate my birthday was constantly on the phone with Elevate the company that runs it. NO HOT WATER for 2 days. Mice dropping in the kitchen the refrigerator was leaking had to be cleaning it. Not enough toilet paper the pans are old everything in the house is outdated. Rancho Magdalena is a 16 bed+2 5 bedroom guest houses+ 10+ baths, can accommodate 40 or more guests overnight, 48 acre estate, with tons of amenities that allows for weddings and events on the property. This property would be ideal if it wasn't out in the middle of nowhere or at least had enough overnight accommodations for an entire event, the maximum which they can provide for, far away from any resources and off windy unsafe roads, some of which are completely dirt roads and it was completely finished with its renos. As far as events go there are two kitchens catering companies can use, one more commercial in a garage storage area and one in the main house. There is enough parking for all guests on site. It has housing for about 50 people with tons of activities and the wedding areas are really nice. There is a magnificent main house.manor and two guest homes anyone else would like with the exception of it being mobile homes essentially/trailer homes, but are nicely decorated. However there's a water facility on the property (its a 58 acre working farm of trees so it needs lots of water) but its cleverly disguised sort of, if they added more foliage around it it wouldn't be such an obvious eyesore. Much of the roads on the property are the old concrete and some are nice stone which isn't consistent. The property needs a lot of remodel to make it consistent. I realize its a large property but still its not terribly guest ready through and through.There was also groundskeeper living in mobile units right outside the guest house and dumpsters and farm equipment visible from the house as well. But on the plus this place has a lot of amenities including a very large swimming pool with slide, 20-30 person movie theater, bocce lawn, trampoline, basketball court, tennis courts, a racquetball court with gym and more. For us we'd have to rent the whole place and make sure NO staff is there (at least not living next door to guest houses or in the main house) while we are there and that the properties appearance is more consistent with the main house instead of portable mobile housing that they consider for "guest houses". Especially since the property is out in the middle of nowhere and at least 45 minutes through unmarked or hard to spot back roads from any other accommodations. Good for all events. More than enough parking, valet and golf carts/on site transport is suggested. read more
