She was excited to get off and go celebrate....it seemed quite early on in our visit that she'd already started celebrating, lots of shots, plenty of time not even in the bar, actually admitted and apologized that she went to the "thrift store". We spent approx 4-5 hours there, same patrons would come and go between the bar and the sidewalk. A little sketchy, even for a dive bar.

I was traveling with my two-year-old, and the entire staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating. They immediately brought her crayons and a coloring page every visit, and made us feel so welcome -- which any parent knows is priceless when you're on the road. Their daily happy hour from 4-6 is truly unmatched: half-off wine and drafts (yes please!), and the vibes are relaxed and friendly. My daughter and I were both completely obsessed with the truffle fries and the bread and butter -- honestly some of the best we've had anywhere. Obviously they're known for their amazing steak but everything we tried was delicious, fresh, and felt like such a treat without being stuffy. A special shoutout to the manager, who is incredibly sweet and made sure every visit felt personal. Between the food, the service, and how family-friendly it is, this spot became the highlight of our stay. If you're in Ottumwa- especially if you're staying at the hotel- you have to go. It would have been nice if we could have been compensated some off the bill for our inconvenience and time, but we were not. We didn't leave until nearly 11:30, so about 2.5 hours there. From what I seen the place did look well kept up and clean, but we never used the restroom while we were there either. We only walked in and immediately sat at the nearest table, so I didn't see much of the place. So all in all, the service was good and food wasn't too bad.
