The owner took our order and answered a few questions about the menu. There was another patron eating who chatted with us while we waited. Everyone was friendly and the vibe was good. Our food came out promptly and the owner brought us several homemade BBQ sauces to try. I had the brisket platter and everything was amazing! Great flavor and sauces were so good! My favorite was his mustard sauce. My daughter had the Burnt end platter. I only tried the Ends and they were fantastic! That's what I'm getting next time. She said her beans were awesome as well as the Mac! I would highly recommend and will make the trip again!

The menu is gigantic. They run out some meats on weekends. We were victim of this when 3 of us ordered steak and someone took the last one. We almost had to get up and hunt them down! Just kidding! For our gluten free eater, this place was big hit. He had multiple choices and most importantly didn't get sick the next day. My meat combo platter was filling. The meats were amazing. Portion sizes were great. I was most impressed by this corn off the cob with some sauces. It was incredible! Prices were also reasonable.

A PERFECT SPOT -- ESPECIALLY FOR PARENTS TRAVELING WITH LITTLE ONES!…read more We were staying at the hotel and ended up coming to Wissota Chophouse almost every single day because it was that good. I was traveling with my two-year-old, and the entire staff could not have been kinder or more accommodating. They immediately brought her crayons and a coloring page every visit, and made us feel so welcome -- which any parent knows is priceless when you're on the road. Their daily happy hour from 4-6 is truly unmatched: half-off wine and drafts (yes please!), and the vibes are relaxed and friendly. My daughter and I were both completely obsessed with the truffle fries and the bread and butter -- honestly some of the best we've had anywhere. Obviously they're known for their amazing steak but everything we tried was delicious, fresh, and felt like such a treat without being stuffy. A special shoutout to the manager, who is incredibly sweet and made sure every visit felt personal. Between the food, the service, and how family-friendly it is, this spot became the highlight of our stay. If you're in Ottumwa- especially if you're staying at the hotel- you have to go. And definitely go during happy hour. You'll want to come back every day too!
