We loved our experience here. This place is like walking into an art museum. The tables and chairs are individually painted with beautiful art work. The owner was our server and he was awesome, so friendly and welcoming even though we arrived less than an hour before closing. Food was delicious. This place is a treasure. Had an early morning in town and needed to find a place for breakfast. Well, as mentioned in one of my earlier reviews, there ain't many choices for breakfast in Colville and one of the good ones was closed because of road construction. FORTUNATELY, Rancho Grande is open and I'm glad it was. The place, inside, reminds me of my roots down in S Texas. The smells of beans and tortillas hits you when you walk in. Fried potatoes, chorizo sausage. A good start. The atmosphere is like a mercado; bright, colorful, beautiful artwork with Spanish music in the background.... more good vibes. So, yes, I ordered the chorizo con huevos breakfast plate with the flour tortillas. Any good Mexican breakfast should either be that, huevos rancheros, or migas/chilaquiles. You can judge a taqueria by any of those. The plate came fairly quickly and looked legit. The inclusion of Spanish rice was a surprise - not very common for breakfast. The chorizo was quite good. It actually was the star of the plate - everything else kind of fell short. The retried beans were a little bland; some salt helped. The not-needed rice was very bland; hardly any seasoning (garlic, onion, cumin, etc) at all. The flour tortillas are not house-made, but okay. Had it not been for that tasty chorizo, the breakfast would've been a disappointment. Another star to Rancho Grande is the service. You can tell it's a family-run business and they seem genuine about it. Smiles and courtesies everywhere you look. Really exceptional. Prices are ... decent. I've paid less and I've paid more. Considering the economy, this was not bad. I'll definitely be coming back to try their dinner menu. It might change the score. We'll see.... read more

I got the Fajitas Mixtas. The plate wasn't sizzling and the food was warm. There is supposed to be 3 types of meat beef, chicken and shrimp. I'm pretty sure there is no chicken and it's mostly onions. This plate costs over $20.00. The sides are warm at best. I ordered a double Cuervo margarita and got 2 shots of tequila instead of the margarita first. The tortillas didn't come with the meal and was asked again what kind I wanted after the meal was served. The staff is pleasant and the restraunt is clean but other than that unfortunately the food is way over priced for warm sliced onions. I really wanted a good hot meal but that's definitely not what I got. read more

As with their Colville restaurant, the staff (family-owned) at the Kettle Falls location has friendly and efficient service. The colorful Lacandona furnishings make me smile. I grew up eating Sonoran Mexican food in Arizona and have eaten Mexican food from Hawaii to Arkansas and from Canada to Mexico. Don't expect all Mexican food to taste the same; different regions have different available ingredients, specialties, seasonings, and methods. Don't expect food prepared by native Mexicans to taste like your favorite SoCal or TexMex restaurant. It's just different stuff. And, of course, most Mexican restaurants tame their food for Gringo palates. However, if you ask for spicy salsa and extra heat in the food, most accommodate these requests. Rancho Grande spicy salsa will make you hiccup and burn the buds right off your tongue--It's that good. I enjoy the food, but the staff, who recognize me and greet me warmly, will keep me coming back. Besides, there are few places to eat in Kettle Falls and Colville, and none rival Rancho Grande. I was really looking forward to the opening of this Mexican restaurant. I had high hopes that we would finally have a Mexican restaurant in the area that served great quality truly yummy Mexican food. I have lived in Mexico and love the food and culture. Mexican food should be freshly made with complex heat from chilies both fresh and dried. There should be lime and cilantro. Taco shells should always be made from tortillas only cooked to order. No grocery store box tortilla shells for tacos or tostadas. Once again, another "Mexican" restaurants had presented the community with bland tasteless food. The service is great and a real effort has been made to present food in a fun fiesta like environment but the food should be more authentic. read more

So, let me 1st say, this place has the most attentive and diligent staff we've EVER seen. The service was excellent. The location is full of local history, support for local schools and authentic Mexican art. It's incredible how well the beautiful and ornate setting just invites you in. The food...oh my. Everybody at our table was satisfied and full. Now, for me personally, I LOVE SPICY FOOD. And I'm not talking about your typical jalapeno or black pepper or dash of Tabasco. I eat habaneros, ghost peppers, Thai chilis and Carolina Reapers. I know serious heat. I ordered the Tres Diablos. It's a mix of shrimp, chicken breast and steak with mushrooms and onions in a "spicy" sauce. Unfortunately it's never actually spicy to me. I told our waiter, make it as hot as you possibly can, and then double that. He didn't let me down. I've NEVER had food this hot ANYWHERE in the Pacific Northwest. It's been a REALLY long time since I have had to have a napkin for the hands and mouth, one for the nose, and one for the eyes (and you better not mix them up)! I've been there twice now and i'm still just blown away at their service. It's a family owned mexican restaurant, and they go way above and beyond for their customers. I'm not sure what the owners/managers name is but he's amazing and i noticed he's the first one there every single day to take orders and serve people all by himself. The first time we came in a young lady served us and she suggested something my grandma had never tried, it sounded delicious, and it became my grandmas favorite food ever. and I just love the man who served us because he never skipped a beat. He never missed the opportunity to joke around with us, consistently checked on us, everything was hot/ fresh / amazing as soon as we ordered it, and continued to thank us for coming in. I really recommend if you've never been before, it's a must-have to stop. read more
