Really flavorful food. Chips are homemade and warm, salsa is delish. We got tacos, with pork/beef. Super flavorful but very juicy, so the taco shell gets very soggy (they're not street tacos) Chicken is not very seasoned so I do recommend the pork and beef. Love that the burgers are made with local grass fed beef and use local bakery buns! The gold pan burger is pretty tasty. Waitress was soft spoken but nice. Restaurant is clean and spacious. The decor is nice. Serving sizes are huge, and prices are a little steep but you do get a lot of food. Overall a nice restaurant, authentic flavors but with a small issues here and there. read more

For Republic this is a 4 star place. We ordered a couple of their Gourmet Burgers with Local Organic Beef and a couple of Beers from Republic Brewing Company. My husband inhaled the Chips and Salsa so I think they must have been pretty good. Oh ya, the Hamburger Bun was locally made too, and it was a Tasty Kaiser Roll. The thing I liked the most about this place is how they took pride in the fact that as many ingredients that could be locally sourced where. Apparently locals raving about this establishment have never eaten authentic Mexican food or healthy Mexican food. My enchilada was swimming in sauce and oil and was unimpressive. Went to have Mexican food but then saw their burger menu! We have never ordered a burger when going to a Mexican restaurant before. Local organic 1/2 pound burgers from Foresee Ranch on locally made hamburger buns from The Baker's Stone bakery is probably in the top 3 of my favorite burgers I have had, my own homemade one included. It was huge so that is my meal for the day. I was in burger heaven. The service was great to unlike some of the other reviews I have read from last year. Esther's Restaurant serves both Mexican food as well as gourmet burgers. It's a great place to enjoy a cold beer, salsa, and a basket of freshly made tortilla chips. Their food is on a par with Seattle-style restaurants such as Azteca or Toreros. I'm fond of the Esther's nacho platter and their flavor-packed, carne asada (in my humble opinion the best dish on their menu and my current favorite). Their gourmet burgers, made from Texas Longhorn beef (locally raised, and hormone and antibiotic free), are also very good. The burgers have a rich beef flavor and are served on freshly baked buns from The Baker's Stone Bakery. Sliced tomatoes, pickles, and lettuce are served on the side, along with curly fries. I tried the mushroom and Swiss, and my husband one with grilled onion and jalapeno jack cheese. My burger was so good I wanted to eat every bite, but it was so large I reluctantly shared some of it with my husband who'd made quick work of his. The restaurant has a family eating area up front, a full bar in the back (where you may also order meals), and a few outdoor tables that are available during warmer months. Local musicians sometimes perform in the bar area on Friday nights. They have a good selection of Mexican beers and several on-tap micros brews from The Republic Brewing Company. They can easily accommodate large groups. Service is typically quick and friendly during the lunch hour, but slows down on busy Friday nights. Update Jan 10, 2014: I recently tried the pork burrito with verde sauce. It is scrumptious! Make sure you ask for the verde sauce and you won't be disappointed. (Dang. Worst experience I have ever had. Showed up at 7:40 PM this evening and was turned away saying they weren't taking any more tables. I have 10 plus years in the restaurant business and anyone with half a brain in their head knows that if your restaurant is open until 8 PM, you take customers up until that time, and fully understand that you're technically open until 8:30-9:00... This place is great- I always look forward to meals here when I'm in town. The fajitas or carne asada plate are my favorite. They have beer from Republic Brewing right down the street and organic grass fed ground beef from up the road. The staff is nice. The restaurant is clean. They give you a sopapilla at the end of your meal. Classic American-Mexican food that hits the spot! read more

We stopped in to the only Mexican food restaurant in town and found a great meal! The waitperson was friendly and timely - and supplied wireless password upon request! The food was delicious and portions generous - tortillas fresh and home style. I had a supreme enchilada - fit for a carnivore. Unexpected burger menu attracted some of us - burger was delicious! My daughter and I went to Esther's for dinner. The chips and salsa were excellent. We ordered a plate of Chicken Nachos to split and each had a flavored Margarita. Daughter's was huckleberry and I had raspberry. Possibly the best Margaritas we've had. The Nachos were ready quite fast and were very good!! Evening #2 in Republic, WA......... Being from Cali we are surrounded by Mexican eateries everywhere (all of which totally suck, BTW), we were eager to try for some decent Mexican food. Esther's was more than decent, it was down right good. I had the Carnitas de Res (Beef Carnitas) It was like Ropa Vieja & I was quite pleased. I also ordered a chile relleno a la carte coz those are my #1 fave. This chile relleno was the most unique relleno I have ever had. It was more like big omelet than a puffy deep fried stuffed pepper. It was delightfully different. I don't recall if they serve breakfast, but this should be on the menu if they do! My original OTR margarita was served in a cowboy boot glass :) The dining room is clean & really cute w/ a seriously kitchy Mexican decor. The service was curt, but acceptable. read more

A friend and I stopped in for a quick late lunch on a Tuesday a few weeks ago. Service was excellent, I had a couple of questions and she knew the answer without having to go and check. We both ordered a side of chili relleno which was much larger than we expected. We neither one like heavy spice and the sauce was perfect! The most impressive thing about Esther's was the menu. In addition to a Mexican based menu, they also had a seperate sheet describing some gourmet sounding burgers. Because I was staying at a resort with my family, and we were planning on having burgers for dinner that evening, we went with Mexican choices, which may have been a mistake. My wife ordered a chicken burrito, and one of my daughters had chicken quesadilla, and the other daughter had a chicken enchilada. All the chicken dishes had good amounts of chicken...and it was of good texture....but it tasted 100% like chicken. 100% unseasoned chicken....which doesn't taste like much. I ordered the chorizo burrito, which turned out to be a chorizo and egg burrito. I guess it shouldn't have surprised me, because chorizo is often paired with eggs...it just didn't say that on the menu. Mine tasted okay, because the chorizo had some flavor...but for the most part, I felt all 4 meals were over cheesed and underflavored. My wife DID want me to point out that the service was good, and the place was clean. I just wish that maybe I had tried the burger, so I would be able to tell what the other part of their menu tasted like.
