My kiddo and I just went here today. We both ordered the chicken taco cheese enchilada lunch combo. I had an Arnold Palmer and my son just wanted water. What can I say? He's a Pisces LOL. The waiter William was amazing, very attentive and friendly. The food came fast within about 10-15 minutes or so. The atmosphere was nice. The whole place has art everywhere from the chairs to the custom seats to the walls. It's beautiful really. The food was really good. The chicken is shredded chicken breast in a pre-made shell. The cheese pool on the cheese enchiladas was insane. Absolutely delicious! It came with chips and salsa pre-order and when the order came I asked for additional hotter salsa which William said he would make. It was good. Not just hot but also tasted good which is important to me. It also comes with a complimentary fried flour tortilla chip with cinnamon whipped cream and a strawberry or cherry syrup which was really good. It was a nice and unexpected treat. Came back again and the food and offerings are expanded! I was happy to order horchata drink (rice milk with cinnamon and touch of sweetness). There happy hour runs from 12pm-3pm - check the photo. I had the quesa birria as an entree, delicious beef with sour cream and guacamole. The portions are still as generous. Service was great! Very, very solid place to eat in such a small town. Free salsa, chips come with every meal and you get seated almost immediately. The best thing there is the Seafood Chimichanga. For a while it wasn't listed on the menu, but It might be back on there now. Never care to look, because I know what I'm getting as soon as I get there. It's about as thick as my (admittedly small) forearm. Whenever I eat here I always have to get a to go box due to the AMOUNT of food they give you. Beans and rice are also included, and they're PIPING HOT. You'd usually have to drive into Spokane to have a meal this good, but the Rancho Chico out in Colville is a hidden gem out in rural NE Washington. I can safely say that I have found LEGIT Mexican food up here in the PNW! I've been wanting to try this place ever since we moved here. Back then it seemed they were the only Mexican restaurant around. Well, there are others but Rancho Chico tops them all. The outside looks like it's a small place. HA! Don't let that fool you. The interior is large, spacious and busy. A vibrantly colorful interior and "musica" playing transports you. Being a native S Texan, it felt like home. When we were walking in, I overheard one customer say how much she liked the chorizo con huevos she had. SOLD! That's what I wanted to order. Once seated, someone brought out the standard chips and salsa ... BUT, they also set a plate down of chopped cabbage, onions and jalapeños - like a small "salad." Come to find out, it's to make yourself a "mini tostada" with the chips and salsa. BRILLIANT and very tasty! Our plates arrived and they were HOT and fragrant. The chorizo had bits of grilled onions and red peppers - which really amp'd up the flavor. The Spanish rice could've used more seasoning, but adding some of their spicy house salsa on it helped a lot. The beans were smooth and had good flavor. My bride's plate had an enchilada and a taco. While she was impressed with the enchilada, she said the taco was "lacking." Trying it, I'm inclined to agree. One more pleasant surprise was the tortillas! It would be so easy for them to just use commercial tortillas, but they're making their own! That, by itself, gets a star. Service was excellent - started off a little slow but, once our order was taken, the level of attention really ramped up. At the end of our meal, we were even given a little "pilon" of a cinnamon tortilla chip with a strawberry drizzle and whipped cream. Oh my! I'm sad to say we are moving out of state and this will be the restaurant I miss the most. Rancho Chico is run by a lovely family, and every server there works incredibly hard. Some food can be good. Stay away from the chili relleno as it is an omelet. Also be aware that if you order shredded beef enchiladas they use half pork. Very deceptive if you ask me. When we asked them there answer was "cut it open, there is beef" barely any! Also we mentioned it again to the manager and all he said was "so"?????? The rice is usually good but this night it was very undercooked. **AVOID IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES**We came to Colville to take my MIL to lunch for her birthday and Racho Chico was a favorite of family who live in the area. My daughter ordered a Signature Rancho Enchilada that was listed on the menu as having their "signature enchilada sauce". After 5 bites she began to have an allergic reaction to something she was eating. Her mouth began to swell, and I took her to the truck for medications. My daughter has an anaphylactic PEANUT ALLERGY. When other family asked the waitress, she stated that there was PEANUT in the "special enchilada sauce". We left and took her strait to the hospital where she was treated with IV medications and monitored for several hours. Our daughter has had a known PEANUT ALLERGY for over 20 years and is always diligent about what she eats. Mexican food has always been safe for her and nowhere on the menu did it disclose there were PEANUTS in the sauce, nor have we ever encountered PEANUT as an ingredient in Mexican food. After she was released from the hospital I called and spoke to a gentleman who stated he was the manager. I wanted him to be aware of the situation and suggest changes to their menu listing PEANUTS in the sauce to avoid another person having an anaphylactic reaction with worse possible outcomes. He started off by saying that it was the customer's responsibility to ask if PEANUTS were present in the enchilada sauce and it was our fault for not asking. I advised that PEANUTS are one of the top 9 food allergens per the FDA and a small change to their menu could save a life. He never asked how our daughter was and simply went on that it was our fault for not asking. I was flabbergasted and ended the call stating that I would call the owner the next day. I was willing to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt that they were not aware of how dangerous undisclosed PEANUT ingredients can be, but their attitude was completely unacceptable. **AVOID IF YOU HAVE FOOD ALLERGIES** read more

Something changed from the last time we visited, not sure if it was owners, chefs or management but it was awful. The menu was completely different from before, my favorite dish the Pollo a la crema was nowhere to be found. The rice that used to be so good was bland and flavorless. I got a taco salad and the bottom of it was filled with about half an inch of liquid from what I believe the meat was cooked in. My sister and I were so disappointed. We talked so highly of this restaurant to my husband, about how delicious the food was and how he would love it. Much to our dismay and shock this food ended up being new for us just as much as it was for him. Being that we did have so many good experiences and visits in the past we will probably try it again but personally I don't have much hope. read more
