I went here and the service is the only good thing here. The salsa was ice cold and the blandest tomato concoction, reminiscent of cheap tomato soup. The chips were cold and horrible. Not fresh the waitress served us our drinks and left while we perused the menu. We became alarmed when we noticed that the sides were not automatic. We went here for a family birthday lunch during the weekend and I really enjoyed our experience. The hostess was very friendly and quickly got our tables ready since we had a huge party. There was already salsa and water starting to arrive at our table when we were almost finished getting seated. Our server was seriously fantastic. So personable, very attentive, and honestly did just a great job. The restaurant itself has a nice bar & grill feel to it mixed in with it definitely being in Kansas City (Chiefs and Royals décor). There are TONS of TV's in here too. The menu is almost too big, and has a great selection of items including daily specials every day of the week. The chips and salsa were decent. The chips were perfectly cooked but the salsa was too sweet with not enough spice. Flavor was ok though. I ordered the Chipotle Chicken Wrap with Rancho Grande dip smothering it. The burrito/chicken wrap was massive and packed with flavor. I loved what I ordered and was really impressed. To start out, I'm going to say the service was fine. The lady was attentive and was kind and helpful. That, however, is where the good ends... We started out with the complimentary chips and salsa, which was lackluster. Basically, tomato soup watered down with onions and no flavor to speak of. We asked if they had another salsa, maybe a hot salsa, which they brought out and was also found to be a disappointing mix of the first salsa with jalapeño seeds in it. We then decided, "Let's get some cheese dip it can't be worse than this." I ate my words faster than I would ever eat that dip. It was not queso as the menu suggested but was instead Velveeta with BBQ pork and some tomatoes. I would advise against it unless you have been drinking already. Oh yeah, and the bottom half of the chips .. stale or rancid, I can never tell the difference but stale fits. Well then, we made it to our main course which was for me, the Torito Bravo a combo plate of unseasoned beef taco, disappointing unseasoned beef enchilada, and a pork tamale that was also, you guessed it... unseasoned .. or at least tasted like nothing. My date ordered the Street Taco Dinner and found her "street tacos" were mostly onion and cilantro, and the meat tasted like it was seasoned with a standard steak seasoning. Combine that with the fact that it was greasy, and it too ended up with the gold star of "please never again." Both dinners came with refried beans, which i assume came from a can and rice that I assume came from a box with how bad they tasted. The ambiance is something I wouldn't really bring up except to say this... if you go out to eat and most of the people eating there are not, in fact, the folks that the food is known for (ie mostly white people) its probably not the best representation of the food being served. This place serves "Mexican food" made for white people. Tldr: Do not eat here if you value your taste buds. I will not be returning here. read more

Everyone here was super friendly. The food tasted great. The chips and salsa were really good. I got the el pastor street tacos. The thing that knocked down the stars was how small the tacos were! Normally they are larger and should take up more of the plate than the beans and rice. I felt pretty disappointed since that is my favorite part. It tasted great but why were they so small?! Menu selections are disappointing. A taco salad comes with meat, lettuce, and cheese. Wants vegetables on a salad, that will cost you extra. In fact, the rest of the menu, less the street tacos and fajitas, is the same. But then I ordered the street tacos and wait - came out to my table - with chopped onions and cilantro. Forgot the pico! This was my go-to Mexican for many years but lately something has changed. I came in tonight to place an order at the bar and was appalled to see the 3 people working behind the bar touching the chips in the warmer with their bare hands right after clearing dirty dishes off of tables. I may be somewhat anal about people touch my food, but it's pretty gross and, not to mention, against health codes to touch ready-to-eat food. I understand being busy in the restaurant industry but certain things like hand washing and proper food handling practices should never be skimped on, especially during a pandemic. It takes 30 seconds to wash your hands and two scoopers in the chip bin could eliminate the need to touch all over someone's food. read more

I'm just wondering why this place is usually packed?? But if people seem to enjoy it, good for them. It's a large "Mexican" restaurant off the main path of other mediocre restaurants. As for the tacos... fried, greasy (like five napkins greasy for four tacos) corn torts with flavorless meat. Again saturated shell. Shred lettuce. Sprinkled cheese. (At least it's wasn't powdered!! OMG!) No onions, seasoning? I realize businesses want to cut down on cost but damn. I think making a good meal, specially on Taco Tuesday, would be a businesses first priority. But again, it's been my observation that many don't have high expectations when it comes to good food anymore. I mean the lines around the local fast foods are telling. Our server "Vanessa"... you know who you are, was great! I guess she likes the powdered cheese tacos. Has them with her dad. And that's wonderful!! Good moments. Everyone likes something different. Rancho never disapoints! Recently we ordered curbside pick up and we were very impressed with the service and quality of the food. Dispite the hard times we're facing Rancho is keeping the quality of their food top notch and their runners are upbeat and helpful! We are obsessed with the chicken and beef burritos! Shout out to the staff at Rancho Grande in Liberty tonight! Some tacky long acrylic nailed, top knot, fake baked, broad got completely out of line this evening. She was sitting 5-6 feet away from one of the staff entrance/exit doors to the kitchen. Literally watched the whole thing with my fiancée this evening while enjoying a delicious dinner paired with margaritas. So, a staff member accidentally splashed sour cream on this overly dramatic guest. After several staff members tried to apologize and wipe down the 2 drops that had spilled on her the guest still felt that an adult tantrum was necessary. After the staff had tried to correct the issue she still felt the need to continue the scene by yelling at everyone in the main dining hall who was trying to enjoy their peaceful Sunday evening for starring. Well, the sour cream was obviously too much to bare..literally. She mule kicked her chair out from under her, and thought it necessary to yell at the table next to her on her way out. She then had to be escorted out of the main dining room AND the bar by a manager. The lady then got pissed because she couldn't take her bud light with her after such a catastrophic event. Anyway, shout out to the staff for keeping it professional, the food delicious, the tequila strong, and for the free entertainment this evening. I tried to start a slow clap for the manager but my fiancée wouldn't let me. I seriously felt bad for the server who was taking care of the guest, because it looked like she got yelled at for something that was so minimal. Most people wouldn't act like that this over spilled milk... or in this case sour cream. Shout out to the waitress who gets 5 stars tonight because she kept it classy and apologize to several tables who sat around crazy sour cream lady. We salute you!! Came here for lunch on a Thursday with a fairly large party. We were seated right away, and the chips and salsa came out almost as soon as we sat down. Our server was attentive and polite. There was a totally disgusting smell that kept resurfacing. It was beyond over powering and smelled like sewer, a baby with a dirty diaper...... it was our table and the booth, badly. Then we noticed every time someone wiped down a table or chair around us it was back. The tags, or wash bin was filthy apparently and they were just speeding that disgust all around. I mean it was gagging!!!!! Then I know I read the menu but doesn't make sense to me. So my sister ordered a burrito and was charged $1.99 for the cheese sauce topping. I ordered two enchiladas (one the same plate and served right next to one another) and they charged me $1.99 for cheese sauce for each small enchilada. I mean ok..... not my complaint. Just seems a little ridiculous to me. The food was good. Not great, not horrible but the smell and knowing I was eating at that nasty smelly table and sitting in that booth is just gross!!! Honestly the whole place was just filthy. Broken chips and straw wrappers all over, napkins. Just a little sweeping and picking up could have taken care of that. I will always come back to Rancho Grande they are so accommodating during the Covid and offer Togo's all you have to do is pull up and they come running to your car even though it doesn't beat an in person they try and make your experience the best they can!! Ordered pickup for two meals like I've done many times before. This time when I went in and told them the name on the order they said they needed a confirmation on the phone, this was a first. I was irritated that I had to walk back across the parking lot because their 2 "pick up spots" (the curb in front of the building) were full. I mumbled as I walked out the door about the fact that I had to do so and when I returned to the building I was greeted by the "zone manager". He proceeded to accuse me of verbally attacking his employees while I was trying to retrieve my food. When I told him he was wrong he proceeded to follow me out of the building and to my car threatening to use the DoorDash system to look up my information and claimed he would disable my account. This is absolutely ridiculous behavior and just to reiterate I said absolutely nothing negative to or even about the employees. Something has changed here. I've eaten here many many times over the years and during the era of Covid. Food was simply not as good. I almost always get a #11, puffy tacos with shedded beef. The amount of beef was minimal at best. Less that a small spoonful. Even after I complained I was unsatisfied with the amount of beef. I have never even been close to rating this restaurant at less than 5 stars and I've been here well over a 100 times in the past few years. This time I struggle to rate it a 1 star.
