I ordered Espinaca Con Queso and Creamy Jumbo Shrimp Enchilada Platter. Of course the Espinaca was good, but I do not recommend the shrimp dish. They leave the tails on the shrimp and put the shrimp inside the enchiladas. So you get a mouthful of tails again and again, or you have to deconstruct your enchiladas to take all the tails off, then you just have a soupy bowl of cheese, cream and torn up shells. it seems like it would be common sense to remove tails when inserting shrimp inside a tortilla, but nope. it ruined the meal absolutely. read more

We enjoyed our dinner here recently. There was no wait even at 6pm and the service was fast and friendly. Love the free chips and salsa. We always enjoy the Pollo Magnifico that comes with rice and beans. The rice is very flavorful but the beans are just ok. I'd recommend it for a quick casual Mexican meal anytime of day. read more

Been a Jose peppers patron for over20 years starting across from metro north mall, to up near Best Buy to here in Liberty. Today 2/18/26 is my last time. New management about months ago has ruined the Liberty location. Many of the servers that were there for years have been let go. Today our server was not attentive and we ordered one meal to share with an extra plate .... She had the kitchen split it and charged us extra. When we complained...she said she would fix it. She did not. . Then our normally sizzling fajitas came out warm not sizzling and half of the portion we normally get. When the new manager came and asked how everything was we told him and his response was corporate didn't want to serve them sizzling any more. Really ?! So Long Jose peppers. Will miss the frozen margs. It's not like there isn't a town full of Mexican Restaurants here in Liberty read more

A crowd favorite, and something I get every time that I go, is their creamy Espinaca Dip. They also had a lot of safety measures in place for COVID-19. Many of the tables were left empty for social distancing between parties, hand sanitizer was provided at multiple location in the restaurant, all employees were wearing masks at all times, and they had outdoor heaters for those who want to eat outside to stay extra safe. Came in for lunch on a Tuesday with 2 coworkers. Wasn't too busy, seated quickly and orders were taken. Drinks and salsa were delivered quickly and the requested guacamole. They have a decent size lunch menu that is reasonable. I got the shrimp tacos and they were pretty big, with decent amount of shrimp and a really good flavor. I also got charro beans and cilantro rice. Co workers each got enchiladas, one got steak and the other got the shrimp and crab. Shrimp and crab order said it was good no complaints. Steak enchiladas orderer ask for jalapeños and no rice. Didn't get the jalapeños but did get rice. When inquiring about the jalapeños he was told they were inside the enchilada but they weren't. They brought him some pickled ones and my other co worker gave some of their fresh ones as well. He thought manager and server were rude but I didn't hear or experience that. We asked for hot salsa and it wasn't hot, very blend to me and the guacamole could've used some salt. After than that pretty good lunch. Not terrible, definitely not great, but most importantly not nearly as good as my memory serves me. Never been to this location but have visited 3 or so others. The Espinaca Queso might be, no IS, the best thing on the menu. I honestly love it and even though the warm tortilla chips served with it were a little on the salty side this evening they paired perfectly with the queso and a cold beer. Unfortunately for me that is where this meal went downhill. I ordered the monterey chicken burrito. It was terribly bland except for an occasional hit of heat which seemed out of place in this concoction since there isn't any mention of peppers or spicy sauce in the burrito. Now don't get me wrong, I like spicy stuff, (just read some of my other reviews) but the burrito wasn't advertised as such and I couldn't even find the source of the occasional heat. Seemed to have some sort of (possibly white) sauce mixed in with the rice and chicken, and no I'm not talking about the espinaca queso on top... Regardless once I opened up the burrito and singled out the grilled chicken and it had zero flavor. Might as well have been boiled. Not only that but it was cut into huge pieces. In a burrito like this I would have expected it to be shredded, but it does clearly say grilled chicken. Anyway, the waitress was very nice and attentive, but brought me the wrong beer. I didn't say anything and just drank it anyway. Ordered dos equis lager and ended up with amber. Not really a big deal just added to the already unimpressive meal experience. Bottom line, I've had better. I've even had far better from different Jose Peppers locations. Will I come back? Probably, but there are a lot of other more authentic options around the area so if I do it will just be to sit at the bar, drink a beer and devour some of that incredible Espinaca queso. read more

To start, their salsa is sooo good and their chips are too!! Pricing is fair, the food was great and the portion size was really big for me. I had left overs for lunch! I ordered the carnitas burrito and would definitely order it again, the carnitas was very flavorful. I had the frozen sangria margarita that was good at the beginning but towards middle to end of the drink I wasn't a fan, didn't look like the picture on the menu at all. We recently visited some friends in Liberty and after taking our kids swimming for two hours, the entire clan - nine of us! - headed to Jose Peppers, as our friends loved to eat there. We weren't disappointed. Not only were we seated right away (we did call ahead), but our waitress was an absolute beam of sunshine who chatted with our kids, stayed on top of our drinks and was pleasant and helpful endlessly. And then there was the food. The queso and chips were amazing, the salsa fresh and light but not without flavor. Our margaritas were strong, precisely what we needed after the craziness that is kids in a pool with a slide, and we were fed and happy from the moment we got there. My husband got the Mahi Mahi tacos and said they were absolutely delicious, and I got the Polo Magnifico which was truly magnifico. Drenched in cheeses and sizzling when it arrived, this chicken burrito covered with jalepeno cream cheese with Mexican rice and lettuce and tomatoes was an absolute dream. Every bite was perfection and all around the table our large family talked about how good their food was. So, ordered MONTEREY CHICKEN BURRITO which has "Grilled chicken, Mexican rice, pico de gallo and cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla. Topped with espinaca con queso. Served with Mexican rice and refried beans." First-there MIGHT be a SINGLE/ONE ounce of grilled chicken in this burrito. There's almost NO pico and no cheese but there is A LOT of Mexican rice inside this burrito. There is also Mexican rice and refried beans on the plate. Second - this burrito was tasteless. Part of this could be because the bites of chicken were less than 1/2" squares. Finally, the restaurant wasn't crowded but our order took a while to arrive. When we asked we found out that our waiter had forgotten to ring it in. We did talk to the manager who originally offered to take one entree off our bill. When pushed, the manager compensated us for all of the food we ordered. Not sure that I will return as the food was generally unimpressive. read more
