I took a weekend trip to Valle de Guadalupe earlier this month with three of my best girlfriends. We were on the late side planning and didn't want to spend an inordinate amount of money, so our housing options ended up being pretty limited. We found Rancho El Rossinyol on Booking.com and AirBnB. It looked cute, and fit our budget, and that was good enough for us.
The owner was very communicative, and sent us detailed directions to the property (pictures included). This was necessary, as it turned out, as the ranch was pretty hard to find (Uber drivers had a hell of a time finding it, so getting in and out without driving was a bit of an ordeal). Once we got there, there was free parking in back of the house, and the owner came out to greet us, along with a couple of sweet dogs, who were very gracious hosts throughout our stay (they roamed around the ranch and enjoyed saying hello and receiving pets). She was super nice and helpful.
The property was great. El Rossinyol is a cluster of houses on a large expanse of land, with I believe two of the homes available for rent. We paid just under $700 for a two-night stay, and this was reasonable, as the house was charming and spacious. It had two bedrooms with two queen beds (I think they were queen; they were big enough to sleep two each, anyway), two bathrooms, and a large kitchen/living area. The fridge was stocked with eggs and cheese and other handy things (we were able to make breakfast at home one morning). The fireplace was functional and very pleasant on a cold evening. There was also a lot of lovely outdoor space with a large seating area. The surrounding landscape was gorgeous, of course.
Two minor complaints (I guess in addition to the isolation, but that seems to be a theme of Valle anyway). One is that most of the doors were impossible to lock and unlock. The keys fit, but seemed to require a high level of experience and finesse to actually turn the locks. We ended up using the door to one of the bedrooms to get in and out, as that was the only lock that behaved reasonably. The other is even more minor, and that's just that the corkscrew was holy shit the worst, most frustrating corkscrew I've ever used. They should probably replace that thing, as people do tend to drink wine here.
Otherwise, though, this was an ideal place to spend our weekend Valle getaway. I'd recommend Rancho El Rossinyol if you're looking for a comfortable house for four people. Just bring your own corkscrew, and someone who's ace at navigating. read more
