Well. That was a super pleasant surprise! We drove to Cieli because a friend said we should def stop there. I was looking for wine food and music for my husband and parents. The road to get there is a little skinny but if you know how to drive it won't be a problem . Just pull off to the side when a car is coming your way. As you start driving up the hill, the view will catch your attention. Once we arrived, we were met with a grandiose view of the Valle. And the entrance to Bodegas Cieli and the two main seating areas. One is outside, under a sort of pergola and the other is on the terrace. I cannot say enough about those views. Best I've seen. We tested the beers. Trust me when I say, get the flight of 6. There is a beer for each taste. They were delicious and cold. The wines are nice. We had two reds. One was the Cabernet (oh shoot. Don't remember the other grape) and the other was the Nebbiolo. I preferred the Cab. The Ben was a bit dryer. Again. Something for each person's palate. Had the cheese plate with fruits, and ordered some pizza, the marinara pasta, and the ribs. Ribs were my fave. Service was lacking. There was only one waiter that I could see and he seemed a little overwhelmed and forgetful. But when he was attending to us he was great. We did have to ask for plates and silverware and such. It's really no biggie but could be improved. Don Cieli and his wife were charming hosts. Beautifully engaging and just amazing. The live musician was Demian who performed a mix of classic rock and old Spanish standards. I really didn't want the evening to end. We will definitely go back. Please please enjoy! Go early. We arrived about 3. Left close to 7 when the temps dipped a little.

Its a small intimate winery located on a hillside with a beautiful view. It gets cold towards sunset but they have Mexican blankets that you can use for free. The road to the winery is a bit bumpy but the food and wine are definitely worth it. The customer service is good and they are friendly. I would definitely return

Loved this location. The view of the valley from here is great. We tried the 8 wine flight and 5 of the 8 were good, 2 were great. A single dirt road out to the spot but worth it.

Great, calm, chill, and relaxing. The vibe is super chill. Mauricio provided us with amazing customer service. The view alone is with the trip up the hill. Definitely a good place to visit with your friends.

Need a break from tasting the incredible wine in the Valle? Look no further than Cieli. Yeah, you go to the Valle for the wine, but sometimes you need some suds to break it up. Enter, Cieli! That beer is satisfying and the view takes everything over the top. Service was great and the breadzers pull everything together. In addition, you can watch Deckamn's while they fire up the grill while they prep your next meal. Insane!

Amazing views! Great food and drinks. Perfect vibes!! Just be careful getting up here

A Gem! Beautiful view! Beautiful atmosphere! Great service! great wine having a wonderful time at this place! The view is beautiful, relaxing and enjoyable! Highly recommend!

Loved Bodega Cieli! Service was wonderful! Great place for your choice of great beer or great wine. They have amazing plates to pair with the amazing drinks. Not far from some other "popular " spots. I actúally left one of those spots...Definitely a hidden gem in The Valle! I will recommend to anyone. Hope they update their calendar more frequently with their seasonal schedule. Shout out to the owners. Don Cieli and Mrs. Cieli! They were genuine and wonderful as well. You will not see that at the "bigger" spots. The atmosphere was great and beautiful views too! I cannot wait to go back... salud!

Wow what a gem!!! Our group of 16 guest were welcomed to Cieli with open arms. The owner himself was out and about talking to the guest and giving us pointers in his wine and beer. Music was great, wine and beer so tasteful. If you are down for a drive and for some adventure add this spot to your check list. We really enjoyed ourselves and are definitely going back ! Until next time my friends

I did not. The grounds are stunning. You're on an active working orchard with views in every direction, and dropped right in the middle of it is the most enormous oak tree I have ever seen. That tree, you guys. It's MASSIVE. Ancient. The whole property is built around it, and drinking wine in its shade was straight up surreal. There were dogs wandering around. Families on picnic blankets. A live band playing under the tree. People dancing on their own. It's magical. The wine was freaking delicious. The charcuterie was good. The service was good. Nothing stood out either way on the service, but with everything else going on, I genuinely didn't pay attention. This isn't a quiet, learn-about-your-tannins kind of tasting. It's a hangout, and it's the kind of afternoon you'll be talking about long after you go home. A must on any Valle trip. Pro tip: come hungry, come ready to hang out, and come ready to feel like you're in a fairy tale, because that tree. Just sayin'!

The charcuterie board stood out with its excellent variety of artisanal cheeses and meats, all beautifully presented. Some of the cheeses were from the goats on the property, pretty cool--and other fresh ingredients came from the region. The "Torre de Uchepo" (Uchepo Tower) was the best. Uchepo is a soft tamale made from white corn, traditional to Michoacán, and here it is taken to another level. It's served with pork rib and a green tomato and puya pepper sauce, topped with fresh farm cream and Cotija cheese. An absolute must! The wines, all produced from the on-site winery, paired perfectly with both the charcuterie board and the tamale dish. The peaceful views of ducks in a small pond and a nearby pasture with sheep and horses. They have dogs too, which are all so friendly and, in my opinion, added to the experience as a dog lover. It's a serene experience that perfectly complements the quality of the food and wine. And the service, the service is like no other. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy the best of Valle de Guadalupe's culinary and wine scene. I look forward to returning for an actual meal, we had dinner reservations, but wanted to stop by. The restaurant is off the beaten path. At the gate, you'll enter and continue driving around the property to the top, where the restaurant sits with gorgeous views. You'll see a small pond and a set of stairs--follow them up to the top. But over the last two decades they have made large strides in quality with new modernization techniques. Besides all of the wine makers that have been here for generations, others (Spain, France, and Italy) from around the world have joined in wine making in the area. The area has all of the basic ingredients (proper climate and soil) needed to make great wine. The area sits in the same latitude as the great wine making areas of the Mediterranean. As a result, now I am a big fan of the area's wine. Now many compare the area to Tuscany Italia before the big tourist rush occurred. The greater area is also home to many Michelin rated restaurants with a great ocean/farm to table menu (carta). Organic and sustainability are fully represented in restaurants as well. If you love seafood, then this place is heaven because of the abundance of fresh seafood from both the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific. I predict that once the new airport in Ensenada is built then this place is going to explode with tourism. Currently, having to fly into Tijuana then take a bus or private transport has been the only way to reach this area from most places in the US with the exception of southern California. People in southern California are lucky enough to drive down for a weekend because it's just that close to them. It's the equivalent of people from Chicago spending a weekend in wine country in Michigan, Indiana, or Wisconsin. In all honesty there is no comparison because most wine in the Midwest is mediocre at best. The problem in the Midwest is the climate extremes which are not suitable to most popular wine varietals. Even when I do find wine from the Midwest that I like, it usually has at least $50-$60 price tag. At a typical grocery store in Spain or Portugal very good bottle of wine is sometimes cheaper than a bottle of water! Under $10 a bottle pricing gets you very good wine, above that you can have even better quality. The winery is beautiful even in the winter. I like to visit in the winter because although it's not super warm here, I go from wearing a winter jacket to wearing a light jacket or sweater. The nights can drop into the 40s which is still much better than a winter polar vortex back home. There is a lot less people, therefore, I can also get into the best restaurants in the area. My rental flat had absolutely no neighbors until the last day when it was time to leave. The isolation was very nice because the grounds are beautiful and very full of life. A huge assortment of birds make this their winter getaway from the harsh winters up north. Citrus fruit was in season down here and the neighboring property had an orchard of trees filled with oranges. The property has a few nice pathways to walk after mealtimes. I also enjoyed the outdoor wine tour which explores the different varietals fields with an enthusiastic guide that was quick witted with jokes. The wine pourings that accommodate the tour were delicious and wisely chosen. I also opted to take the wine cave tour right after the outside tour. How was the cave tour? It was disappointing and frustrating. First of all, as I patiently waited to be taken down to the cave from their gift shop area they forgot about me. They have a list of who is supposed to go down and yet they still went down without everyone?!? Finally a cashier notices that I'm just walking around not shopping and asked me if I was waiting for someone. I told him that I was waiting for the cave tour to begin. He got a hold of the tour guide who had already gone down with some of the group and he came up to retrieve us. Those that were already in the cave, already had been served food that was optional to order with the tasting. After several pourings in the previous tour, yes, I was ready to have some food to lessen the impact of more pourings. Also, they had a nice selection of items that would complement the pourings. Somehow, they forgot about me again, and I noticed others were getting a different presentation than I was on the same tour. Okay, now a sense of frustration is overcoming me and I mention the oversights to the guide. He lied to me and told me that the others had a different level of wine tasting. This disorganized tour was also set up backwards because there should have been a walking tour of the fermentation area first then tastings afterwards. Besides the bad cave tour that I definitely don't recommend. Everything else was great with the exception of the cold washroom on cold nights. They have very nice employees, beautiful grounds, very good breakfast, and a great dinner restaurant called Latitude on the property. Would I come back? Yes, because besides a few frustrating moments the rest was great.

Martin was our sommelier and he took incredible care of us, speaking English so that most of our group could follow along. We ordered small bites that were simply indulgent: each bite was hand crafted onsite and tasted phenomenal. We weren't rushed and took our time enjoying the 5-lable tasting. We wandered the grounds and soaked in the incredible scenery along the valley, the rolling hills filled with vineyards and punctuated with lavender to make the whole experience something out of a storybook. Martin took the time to help some in our party who had never before done a tasting, which was really helpful for me (not a novice but nowhere close to a pro). The wines were delicious, made all the more flavorful as learned the notes beforehand so our palates could get the cheat code.
