I can't say enough good things about Horsepower Ranch. Oscar makes the reservation process easy quick and the rooms are always clean, and the food and service is wonderful. Rodrigo and his staff keep the place running like a well-oiled machine.
With your stay comes dinner the night you arrive and breakfast in the morning. No menu, no hassle, just sit down in the dining hall and great food just starts showing up. Now, I've been here enough that the staff just knows what we like and it's a done deal. In the morning coffee and juice is ready and breaky follows. Don't forget to tip the staff, it goes a long way.
We take our buggies and go south for days at a time. We stay here for the first and last nights at minimum and while we're gone our trucks and trailers are safe and secure for a small fee in the lower lot. In Baja safety and security are premier, and you get both at Horsepower Ranch.
When we come in for the day we shower, lounge in the bar and play pool or shuffleboard, or sometimes just relax next to the huge fireplace if it's cold. There's also a fire pit outside they'll light for you and horseshoes nearby. We've also spent entire days at the pool in the summer.
Dinner is much like breakfast, sit down and food arrives. They'll typically ask what you'd like but if they don't you will not be disappointed. I highly recommend the arrechera or the chicken fajitas. The enchiladas are always a good bet too. Desert follows and coffee on the ready. Again, please tip the staff.
01/2020 - The rooms are being upgraded as time permits and are coming along nicely. New tile, paint, water heaters, and other upgrades are happening. They're keeping it rustic or ranch style but replacing the old or worn out amenities.
If you're looking for The Ritz then keep looking, if you're looking for quiet, peaceful, and charming then this is it!
