Michelada Colombiana (front), Margarita Flaca (back)
Vijay N.

I'm back in Westborough for the week visiting my family for Thanksgiving, and my mom mentioned that a new Mexican restaurant had opened downtown where Sapporo used to be. After considering a few options for dinner, we decided to stop in and give this place a shot. We arrived around 6 PM and the restaurant was fairly busy for a Monday night. The ambiance is reminiscent of a classic East Coast Mexican restaurant -- colorful and vibrant. There's plenty of seating, with room for several groups of 4-6 people. We were promptly seated, brought complimentary chips and salsa, and had our orders taken. For drinks, we ordered two Michelada Colombianas with Modelos for myself and my girlfriend, a Margarita Flaca for my brother, and a Diet Coke for my mom. For our meals, I got the Tres Amigas Enchiladas, my brother ordered the Borrego Don Martute (lamb), my mom chose a Small Combo with two tacos, and my girlfriend got a Mole Burrito -- which the restaurant kindly made vegetarian for her! Food arrived promptly and everything tasted solid. I really enjoyed the enchiladas (the green one with carnitas was the best!). My mom thoroughly enjoyed her tacos, and my brother's lamb shank came with a consomé that was extremely savory. My only comment -- and my girlfriend agrees -- is that the molé leaned a bit on the sweeter side, but that's mostly a matter of preference. In terms of service, everyone we interacted with was friendly and attentive. All in all, Rancho Allegre is a welcome addition to the Westborough food scene. This town has had a few more "uppity" Mexican restaurants pop up in recent years (looking at you, Mexicali and Torito), so seeing a spot bring back the classics and do them well feels refreshing. Wishing this place the best of luck -- and I can't wait to stop by again the next time I'm back in town. Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 Overall Score: 4.7/5

The Big Rancho Enchilada - which is just a burrito with enchilada sauce

My lovely wife and I in the mood for Mexican (American version) decided to try this new place out. Inside was decorated in the typical Mexican chain restaurant style. This was about 6pm on a Friday night and there were plenty of tables and seats at the bar. We sat at the bar. This was our first time in here so we stuck with our usual order - enchiladas for my lovely wife and a burrito for me. My wife ordered the "Big Rancho Enchilada" which was a "Soft flour tortilla filled with rice and refried beans with your choice of shredded chicken (which she had), ground beef, or chunks of pork in a chile verde sauce, topped with enchilada sauce, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guacamole." Not that I'm an expert but I haven't seen an enchilada filled with rice and beans before. So, that's different, not really authentic. My wife asked for them to skip the beans as she's not a fan. I ordered the Rancho Burrito which was a "Soft flour tortilla filled with rice, refried beans, and your choice of shredded chicken, ground beef (which I had) or chunks of pork in a chile verde sauce topped with our own red mild sauce, melted cheese, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and guacamole." Yeah, except for the sauce, the enchilada and the burrito are the same exact item! The food tasted good but it's no better than the average Mexican restaurant fare, The issue we both had was the scant amount of meat in our "burritos". I had more ground beef outside of the tortilla than inside. Both items were like 95% rice and I only found 5 beans in my burrito. In addition, I asked for some house made hot sauce/salsa. They brought out something but it wasn't hot and had an unidentifiable flavor. Because this was our first time and we only tried 2 items we may try again. But with many much better Mexican restaurants in the area, probably not.

Heaven

Food, Service, and Ambiance are amazing. The food is very good, something different, needed in Westborough. The inside is bright and lively with warm colors on a cold day. The service is fast and attentive. The only thing better was the drinks. Very well done. If you go once, you will go again.

I read the great reviews…read more I've never been to this establishment. First time I sat at the bar had fajitas combo , steak and shrimp and a couple of margaritas. I think they were ultimates seemed like everyone was enjoying their time - the food all looked good I was hoping that I'd find a new salty Chips and salsa, but that wasn't the case.- hot sauce didn't compliment Kind of mellow taste With a tip I was just under $70.00 $32.00 for 2 Margaritas

It was a weekday afternoon, so it was just my and my friend, with one other party there. Since the weather was nice, we decided to sit at their outdoor tables - both indoor and outdoor spaces are big with lots of tables. Some of the tables are in the sun and others in the shade so there are options. They had some lunch specials and a taco Tuesday special so we shared a chimichanga, and two tacos. We had their al pastor and carne asada tacos. To change it up, we went with the chicken chimichanga. While we waited, our waitress brought out some complimentary chips and salsa to munch on. The tacos were tasty, although the meat was a little dry. The tacos were on the smaller end, but also only $2 each. The chimichanga I was not a fan of. The plate looked big, but in reality it wasn't too much food. It did come with beans and rice which I was not expecting, but also, the chimichanga was only filled with shredded chicken, so this must have been the rest of the filling. The chicken, rice, and beans were very bland, and there was too much tortilla (as a result of only being slightly stuffed). Also, it was not deep fried like it should be. Our waitress was nice, and took good care of us.

It's very convenient and not much of a wait to order There are plenty of open parking spaces around it, they have some stools inside to sit but I wouldn't guess more than 8, if you aren't up for that style dining idk what to say. I didn't look to see if there were outdoor benches/tables outside or not. Again, I'm not sure.

Several picnic tables are available outside. Sauces are in packets. The refrigerator has a wide variety of Jarritos drinks, including guava. -- Birria Tacos: Tasty shells, decent meat, thick cheese, and delicious consomé that was the highlight. Overall, good. -- Pastor Tacos: Tried with soft shell, black beans, and plenty of cilantro. Minimal pineapple. Slightly moist meat. Overall flavor satisfied once I added sauces. -- Carbitas Burrito: This behemoth was much more substantial than the tacos, both from diameter and generosity of stuffing. Meat a little dry once extracted from the juices in the bin. Good fillings. Good sauces. The guy behind the counter on visit 1 didn't add all the requested items (my lunch mate spoke to him in Spanish), but an easy enough exchange. The visit 2 guess much faster and more generous. Stool spots are scarce during inclement weather. There's potential for an upgrade to 4. But for now, 3.

I used to be a HUGE fan of Hola, and I would frequently have lunch or dinner here on a weekly…read morebasis. I had certain menu favorites, but tried nearly everything they offered. Over the years, the quality went downhill, and ownership announced in late June '23 that they would be closing temporarily and reopen with a "new and improved" Hola. I was excited to check it out tonight Unfortunately, it was hard to find anything improved about the new Hola. The chips and salsa remain very good, and we had plenty of time to enjoy them as our food took a *long* time to come out, despite being just a few customers on a Monday night. Two of the three of us ordered Baja Fish tacos ($17) but they messed up the order and brought Shrimp Gober tacos instead, so we had to wait even longer for them to make the actual food we ordered. Some of the fish tacos were served with very unappealing, old browned avocado, while others had pathetic tiny slivers of fresher avocado. The De Asado tacos ($16) were sparsely filled with super dry meat, accompanied by dry, crispy rice. Not sure if these were just sitting drying out in the kitchen while they remade the fish tacos, or if this is typical. The "avocado sauce" listed on the menu was non-existent, and the main flavor came from using the leftover salsa from our chips to moisten the tacos. Nobody ever came to our table to refill waters or ask if we were enjoying our meal - I really miss the old staff, who were warm and inviting, and seemed genuinely eager to please. If this is the new "improved" Hola, I will mourn the demise of the old Southborough gem that Hola was, and cautiously seek out other Mexican restaurants in the area.
