Another place local to my home that I've not tried the entire decade I've been here, but I have made a concerted effort to try more small mom and pop type restaurants to help them through this economy. It was a little larger inside than I expected, and the menu was a lot larger than I anticipated. I'd read reviews about the pupusa, so that's the number one reason I stopped by, but when I noticed the menu was quite large, I ordered a couple of other items as well, so then I would have a better overall opinion of their offerings. The staff was pleasant, the service fairly quick, the prices are fair, and the food was filling and good. read more

I had a terrible experience here. I called to place an order, and when the food finally came out it was cold and tasted awful. On top of that, the lady working had the worst attitude she was rude, dismissive, and never once checked up on us, even though the place was empt!!!. Honestly the service and food were both unacceptable. Definitely not worth coming back. You can see how empty it is lol and the service horrible please do better read more

These were some of the best papusas I've ever had in my life. So salty and cheesy they were SO freakin delicious!!!!!!! Like I'm seriously still thinking about them Walking in there was a slight language barrier (I need to learn more Spanish) this nice lady took my order and I waited about 10 mins and my food was ready. Not too much seating but the restaurant was very clean read more

I've been a regular at Rancheros Tacos for ages, but guess what? I've never left them a review - shocking, I know! My all-time favorite dish there has to be the pupusas. They whip them up fresh, so patience is key! Oh, and on Wednesdays, you can snag a pupusa for just $2.50 - a steal! Usually, I'm at the laundromat next door and never considered having breakfast here. What I love is the choice between Salvadorian or Mexican style. The Salvadorian one comes with cheese and sweet plantains, while the Mexican version comes with rice, and beans, both are served with homemade tortillas! The bill was a reasonable $15 for a Machaca plate. And as a bonus, if you dine in, they'll throw in free chips and salsa! read more

Well I hadn't had pupusas which is a salvadorian dish ,I divided to order from this place. The lady that took the order wasn't rude and she wasn't nice ,is just okay I guess. My Son picked it up and when He came Home and I opened the container it was very oily ,so I cleaned it with paper towels and I was so gross by it that I couldn't eat it. I called and the girl who answered the phone said I couldn't return it and what did I expect because Pupusas are greasy . I will never buy anything from there again . Also my Son told me that the place looks dirty . read more

So I was craving pupusas, and a dinner plate, for lunch and dinner. Didn't feel like driving out to Atwater to get pupusas, since it's really far from where I live. I searched and this place was closer and had great reviews. So I ordered 4 pupusas and a chicken plate that was covered in caramelized onions with a side of rice, beans, salad and freshly made tortillas. At the point of sell she she tried to up sell me a drink, but ended up getting 2 salvi quesadillas(sweet bread). The chicken plate was good the only thing I wasn't to happy was that the chicken was dry and fried to a crips. Other then that everything else on the dinner plate was good. Seeing that I didn't eat the whole chicken, I still had room for pupusas. Like I said earlier I usually go to El Buen Gusto in Atwater for my Salvi fix. I ended up getting 4 pupusas 2 cheese and 2 cheese with pork. wow they're as good if not better then EBG, the curtido and salsa were on point and gave you good portions. The size of the pupusas where also gracious, and stuffing was the right amount. I will definitely be going back to try other plates. Oh and of course I later on had a piece of the quesadilla and it was bomb too. I'll definitely be back for my fix of Salvi and Mexican food. read more

This place has good food but the service here is bad only because the lady's are really rude even when I call to order something there rude about taking orders they even put me on hold were I can hear them having a conversation with other employees there when they can take orders in this place isn't worth the disrespectful behavior read more

Let's see. Pupusa special on Wednesday is good. For is pricey but Salvi breakfast is worth it. Call ahead for pick up

Go get the pork, cheese and beans pupusas immediately! Got five for 11.50, but I think it maybe a Wednesday special. Big portion. Small little hole in the way but they're food is amazing! read more

I've been getting pupusas there for the last 3 years since every time they were good but last week I got some pupusas with no flavor plus the cabbage that usually is good this time wasn't so probably I'll give them a chance one more time read more

I know the name is Rancheros Tacos but this place is more than that. They make the best tasting pupusas on this side of town. We've tried many places around the neighborhood and this is our favorite spot. Yes and their chilie rellenos are the bomb. I don't like their rice or tacos but for pupusas it's great! Love this gem! If you're looking for glam this won't be the place. It's a little restaurant in the 711 parking lot. Some make shift outdoor seating but not the best part of the neighborhood. read more

It was a very pleasant surprise! Honestly, I wouldn't have gone in because it doesn't stand out physically. Although this place has a few reviews, it has great ones. So I wanted to see for myself! We (my husband and I) were shocked at how amazing the food was. It is definitely a place I would recommend going. The super asada nachos... is a must! They pile on so many different things: chips, beans, cheese, meat, lettuce, tomato, cream, cheese, radish, jalapenos, and carrots. At first you see a bit of an organized "mess" on top of the chips, but PLEASE TRY THEM! It definitely didn't disappoint! Enjoy! read more

Terrible customer service from front counter ladies. I think they might be racist if you're not a Latino or if you don't speak Spanish. Matter of fact, they don't really even speak English, which makes ordering difficult. Beware! They will charge you extra if you are not Mexican/Latino. B!tch charged me $7 for a small plastic bowl of salsa. I asked how can this little bit of salsa be $7 and she responded: "No English. That's how much price". LOL. Can't believe it. Don't come here. read more

I was really looking forward to tasting their food but unfortunately i did not get the opportunity. This place has a website with online ordering in place. I placed an online order, paid for it and when I arrive to pick up the lady claims that they do not sell online. I showed her my online confirmation plus my credit card being charge.she dis not look surprise which now makes me doubt the validity of her answers. How do you have a site up, offer food for ordering charge my card and then don't deliver? Well, i can put that aside but the service i got was by far worse. No care or worried that they have a site live charging customers cards. read more

Rancheros Tacos - a fork and knife on a plate - Mexican Near Me - Sun Valley, California

Horrible horrible customer service! Beware. I typically do not write bad reviews. Extremely rude staff and cook. After 40 minutes of waiting for an order food was still not ready. Sitting at a table waiting for the food the waitress comes up and asks if i want to place an order!?? She asked what is the name on the order and i explained that the lady that took the order didn't ask for my name. She goes back to the kitchen never to be seen again. Then the rude cook comes out and yells "order for the no-name". Appalling how they would treat their paying customers. Words were exchanged and another customer behind me agreed and said they were rude and she had been waiting a long time. The cook then says, "yeah but you still coming". We both said never again! Insane situation. Guess they are doing so well that they don't need the customers. read more

I think I'm the first Asian dude thats ever stepped foot in here. All eyes were glued on me....the Jukebox suddenly stopped playing too(im not sure if it was the end of the song or something). I hope a drug deal wasnt going on or anything.....I didnt bring a change of undies. The cashier, I'm guessing owner, kind of gave me and my boss a suspicious look. I walk to the counter and went through various plastered flyers on the walls showing their specials. We were craving tacos so we both ordered the 4 tacos and a can of soda special. ($5.50). We tried the carne asada and the carnitas. The cashier gave a relieved look after we ordered. Don't worry lady, we're not health inspectors. The meat was quite tasty and the salsa was fantastic! Turns out the meat is made fresh everyday and the salsa is homemade. So none of their meat was precooked like some other Mexican restaurant. Some places chop up their meat to tiny bits, Rancheros give you nice chunks. Right by the 5 freeway, if you're ever lost up here, feel free to check this place out. They serve both Mexican and Salvadorian stuff. So I'm gonna have to try out their Pupusas next time. Pupu...sas....that sounds funny... read more

I do my laundry next door to this place and I've always wanted to try the pupusas. One night I went with my friend to try their pupusas and maybe some seafood. I ordered two pupusas and an "oyster" cocktail. Once we got home to eat, I noticed that the "oyster" cocktail I ordered was in fact just a shrimp cocktail. I didn't want to make a fuss and return the food, because by this time already i was hungry and didn't want to go back and haggle. Even though the oyster cocktail was $1 more than a shrimp cocktail, I was willing to let it slide. Not only did this happen on my first visit but also on my second visit, as well. they pulled the same thing on me. I ordered in broken Spanish, mind you, and they still tried to pull a fast one on me. I returned the "oyster" cocktail, claiming that I ordered the wrong thing, then tried to tell me they didn't have any oysters at all, but just a little left. I got a refund and vowed never to return. The cocktail wasn't that great. Pretty typical for a tacqueria. The pupusas were awesome! I ordered one cheese and one bean pupusa and both were delicious. Go for the pupusas, don't bother with the seafood - not that great. The older woman that works there is rather rude too, so watch out for her! This place would have gotten 4 stars from me, but not after what they tried to pull over me. read more

I usually don't mind waiting around when they're busy, but they said 30 minutes and I was waiting around for more than 40 minutes. Had they apologized for the wait or something I probably would have waited. But instead the two women go to the back and start rolling their eyes and joking around. They don't wash their hands after handling cash and pack the food like that. Never again. read more

I'm always pretty skeptical about places that offer both Salvadorian and Mexican food under the same roof. This restaurant is nearby to my house so I decided to give it a chance, by doing so I ordered two pupusas and an order of platanos fritos. My total was $11 plus the $0.25 fee for using my card, I wasn't to happy about that seeing as the woman helping me didn't clarify that. About ten minutes later I get my bag of stuff and was surprised by how much I had gotten. The pupusas are pretty thick compared to others, came with chips and salsa (that I was practically slurping into my mouth) and lastly, a heaping serving of the fried plantains. When I saw the pupusas were thick that also raised a flag on my head (I've had thick pupusas before and they were disgusting!) but not at Ramcheros Tacos, the cheese had a very distinct taste bit to greasy, just a pupusa jam packed with goodness. I've only gone once on Wednesday, I showed up around 10am, the wait was about 30 minutes... Food is good, prices are reasonable, service ehh they need to work on that! read more

Alright I've at a lot of hole in the wall Salvadoran spots but this place really takes 1st place (Buen Gusto in Atwater comes in at 2nd). So they've got pupusas revueltas WITH LOROCO in them. DE.LI.CIOUS. Pero like, I don't know if other Salvadoran spots have that, and this is the first time I've tasted a pulida revuelta with loroco, so I'm hooked now. Best part is this place is in walking distance to my house, wish I could give them a kagillion stars. Service is eh, but EH who cares, I love that pupusa! read more

Tried it for the first time tonight after years of my son telling me to visit. I did. Small humble place for the locals. Tried the pupusas to go. Good sized. Good flavor. Generous Curtido. I'm hard to impress after 45 years of eating them. However what stood out was the service. The young ladies. Kudos to Yesenia. She's an asset and forgiving after I ordered from the other location. Waited, Sat down had a cold Pilsner enjoying the warm smiles and service. I'm hooked. Yuca con chicharrones will next. read more

Ok people. This is not a joke and I'm dead serious. I have literally just found the best Pupusa In California possibly in the world. Absolutely amazing. This place is nothing to look at. But staff friendly and I'm totally blown away by how amazing the pupusa was. I'm definitely going back to try rest of menu. I had the Pork and cheese. Perfect balance of spice, tortilla , pork and cheese. Totally blown away. If you're within a 100 miles worth the drive. read more

Absolutely love this place I specifically come here for their exquisite Shrimp cocktail, And ginormous Mojarra Everything you order here is freshly prepared cook to order. This place is not a "Fast Food" place so don't come in with that mentality that your going to get served fast and quickly because your not. They have a friendly sign that says so, and I as a Patron am OK with that because everything is worth waiting for. I have been coming to this place for over 20 years and never does it seem to dissapoint me The staff is very friendly and so is the owner who is very humble and works just as hard as her employees. Definitely a hidden gem. read more

Best pupusas in the valley. Maybe best pupusas in SoCal. So well made perfect size and the portions perfect to fit the size. These ladies are always busy on Wednesday when pupusas are $1.50. PLEASE ORDER AHEAD don't expect to get fast service for food that is prepared there fresh not sitting under a food lamp. These pupusas are so so cheesy which makes them A little greasy. The service could be better but I don't expect it from this small hole in the wall. It's mostly Spanish speaking workers and dinning in guest. The red sauce they give with the curtido is really watery and compliments the pupusas well (but could be a thicker consistency). Other than that food is delicious. read more

Since it was Pupusas Wednesday I decided to give it them a try... you cant beat a buck, twenty five. Awesome pupusas and curtido (pickled cabbage) just lousy wait time. Some of the people who had called in their order were pissed the food was not ready. I waited for 30 minutes then I spoke up and walla, my order was next. Anyways, good pupusas, lousy wait time. I could hear the short, pear shaped lady cook in the back making remarks on how people just have to wait their turn. read more

I've been going to this place for years. This place has UNBEATABLE pupusas. I always get the cheese, which is the best!!! It's loaded with yummy cheese so if you are worried about the fat, then forget about this one. It can be a bit greasy, cause, well, it's melted cheese. The pupusas are insanely good though so reward yourself, it may very well be the best thing you have ever eaten. The best tacos are the pastor (BBQ pork) with everything on them, especially lime. I absolutely LOVE them. I usually call ahead of time to see if they are out of pastor cause if they are, I won't make the trip since its a bit of a drive for me. Another great thing to order are the chicken tamales. I'm really picky about tamales, and no one makes them more moist and tender than this place. I hate dry and salty tamales, but these are awesome. They change the recipe every once in awhile but everytime it's good. As far as practical things for people dining out...The place is a little small and the tables close together. Sometimes it's pretty crowded. There is a jukebox, and it only plays Mexican music as far as I know. The TV is in Spanish as well. The lighting of the place is bright. The is very little decor. If you are looking for entertainment while you wait, and you don't speak Spanish, then bring your kindle, iPhone, book, or someone you like talking to to avoid boredom. I don't order any other items since these are my favorites, so I couldn't recommend anything but what I know. The service here can be slow. Keep in mind they are making everything from scratch, so it usually takes around 45 minutes. So I call in my order and pick it up. The lady with the grey hair is awesome! She always smiles when she sees me and greets me like a friend. I've never had any problems with my order and everything is always fresh and scrumptious. I full heartedly give this place 5 stars and I love sharing this food with the people I love. You won't regret coming here if you order the things I recommend. read more

I ordered a chorizo burrito and was charged $9.30. The menu says the cost is $6.25 + tax. They don't speak a lot of English here so I didn't bother with questioning them about it. I wanted to ask for suggestions on what to order, but she didn't even know they had a burrito with chorizo option. I heard her ask her coworker if she they had that. If the food has improved since the last time I can here, I will up the rating. Last time the chips and salsa were really good but the food itself was just ok. read more

Suuuuuper yummy pupusas. I get the chicharon and they are freakin addicting... When your lucky enough to find some filling in them... Sometimes i think they forget to finish filling them. Lol. And their horchata is perfection. Prices are soooo fair and the place is authentic. But just go for pupusas, the rest of the menu is blah! They should just turn it into a pupuseria and dish out like 10 different kinds... :0) ummm did i mention they have the best curtido...ummm.....ever. i always get 2 pupusas but get full off of one cuz i sit there and eat the whole ziplog of curtido (yes they put it in a ziplog when you get it to go) they can serve it on the floor and ide still work aroud it .....and enjoy it! ::Smiles:: read more
