It cost five dollars to park there for the day and you can pay at a pay station on the ground level on the way to track one or to the staircase to go up to the overpass to track two. There are additional pay stations on either level two or three I typically use the pay station on the ground level. I like to use the garage because it allows you to keep your car cool in the summer and protected and in the winter Keep it from being snowed in. The problems that I have with the garage is that many people park their cars there for extended periods on the levels that they're not supposed to and it takes up space from the daily commuters. There are cars that have been parked there since I started using that station 2 1/2 years ago that have never been moved and are full of dust and dirt. The gate arms for entry and exit always have issues just this morning one of the entry gate arms wasn't working so there was only one access point into the garage this morning for commuters. Last week the same thing occurred on exit. There was only one gate arm that was operational so there was only one exit point from the garage. The payment machines frequently go down which slows down the ability for patrons to pay for parking when exiting or entering the garage. If the pay machines aren't working you either have to pay on exit at the gate arm or if the office is open go into the office and pay which is inconvenient and slows down your afternoon commute.

We took the Metro-North Port Jervis train to get out of the city on Saturday and rode it up to the Tuxedo Train Station, and as soon as we got off the train, we saw the shuttle stand. It's actually inside the old train station, near the platform. The volunteer bus riders suggested the best trail for us (we had our dog and wanted to do an overnight, but didn't want to hike too far.) We ended up going on the red trail and staying at one of the old shelters and then catching the bus back on Sunday morning. There were a few other campers there the night we went but it didn't matter and it was a quality evening. The bus is reasonable (5/per person) and leaves right on time, the only dowside is the shelters aren't right on the water so you have to bring your own drinking water if you're staying overnight. But I might come back and just ride the bus through the park. It's really pretty and I take a lot of pictures, especially in the fall, and Harriman is really exceptional once the leaves start turning color. Until this shuttle started I had no idea how big Harriman park is but now I know. You can pick up trail maps right at the train station if you go on the weekend. There's also a large farmers market right in the parking lot when you get off the train so we brought peaches and apricots on the hike.

It is located in downtown Hillsdale at the town center. The original station house is here that was built 1870 as the terminus and headquarters of the New Jersey and New York Railroad. At the platform area, there is some seating under cover. There is also a ticket vending machine and you can also purchase tickets on the NJ Transit App before boarding the train. The station has one track and one low-level side platform. Permit parking is available, operated by the Borough of Hillsdale. There are also a dozen non-permit spaces available on a first-come first-served basis for $5 a day. I would not recommend parking anywhere else as the city seems to be pretty strict about revenue generation. Right next to the station building are some one hour parking spaces for dropping off and picking up. Today, the train only stopped for a minute or so. If there's no one waiting, it will be even less than that. They will not wait for you if you're running for the train. An overhead announcement indicates the imminent arrival of the train. Several incompetent drivers cut him off because THEY waited to the last moment to merge into the right traveling lane. With his excellent driving skills the rest of the passengers never even knew what was happening. His use of the GPS rerouted us a few times to avoid traffic jams that could be seen extending off to the horizon; getting us to and from the casino on time. There were even entertainment on the bus, enhancing the ride. And the bathroom was clean and smelled pleasant.

When the ticket taker starts boarding everyone else I asked him to board us. He said Trailways doesn't honor priority and we had to go to the END of the packed bus line. I asked him to board us and he repeatedly said "talk to greyhound ". Very rude and embarrassing. So I'm talking to Trailways! Honor priority boarding or at least tell the people at the desk the correct info. We arrived when the line had only three people. We needed to aboard early for medical reasons and paid extra!!! Train your people to be courteous!!

Two and three word email responses from the owner led to either a miscommunication or deceit. Quite simply, I requested a roundtrip quote (home to airport with return). When being dropped at the airport, I was horrifically surprised when they told me the quoted price was each way. Sadly, the start of my vacation was spent standing in the road at the Newark airport drop-off, arguing for ten minutes on the phone with the business owner. He attempted to compromise, but it wasn't enough. A week before my trip, I emailed the owner for a clarification of their charge, asking, "do you collect half each way?" His response was, "yes, we do". I can't ever use or recommend this service again. The owner should learn to write clear emails and utilize formal price quotes like other car services. I ended up riding home at the end of my trip in a much nicer Cadillac Escalade with a different business!
