Craig was excellent during the project kickoff phase as well, when my wife and I went back and forth on design details and even had to put the project on the back burner for a few months. He patiently input our ideas into his design software so we could see how the room would look, and explained the myriad tradeoffs between time, money and design in a way that made perfect sense and made it easy to make the right decisions for our family and budget. Once the project started, Mark and Ed kept us informed in person and via email, and were very friendly, personable and helpful onsite presences. Ed especially went the extra mile, doing jobsite cleanup at the end of the day -- something that wasn't strictly required -- as well as some small safety touches I would never have thought of to make sure that our curious 5-year old didn't have any chance of hurting himself if he "accidentally" wandered into the area. The rest of the Almar crew was similarly good, and even the electrical, roofing, & insulation subcontractors were top notch. I would use Almar again in an instant, and I have a coworker also using Almar for a project having a similarly good experience. Let them bid your project; you won't be disappointed.

After a long time, two were eventually corrected (flashing was done incorrectly in one area and a second area was sided over without applying house wrap). I have water damage in three rooms that Almar left for me to take care of. One room still leaks when it rains and I'm still waiting for Alison or Craig to respond to my last email.

They found some rot under a few windows that were incorrectly installed by a different contractor. I was panicked, but they made quick work of the repairs, replacing the damaged sheathing and inspecting the studs. They re-taped the Zip System Sheathing panels, then secured, sealed, and cleaned the gutters. Now I can sleep soundly even when it's pouring rain. He is honest, works hard and takes pride in his work. I have had him do floors for my house that stood the test of time for years. Then moved on to two bathroom renovations that were beautiful and completed on time and on budget. Most recently (November 2016) he completed a complete renovation of my kitchen. It looks AMAZING and he worked ridiculously hard to get it done on time so I could host 24 people for Thanksgiving dinner. Again, can't explain the review I just saw from Amelia, but I highly recommend Kris and will use him again for my next upcoming bathroom reno.

BEWARE! I hired Kris (KNM Construction) to build a 3 season room and it was a disaster. It took him…read more3 MONTHS to complete 1 1/2 WEEKS of work. The project was to just build a rough frame, we wanted to finish the inside ourselves. Well, we got rough alright. He left the entire roof overhang inside the room, we had to cut it back ourselves after he was 'done'.The door leaked from the moment it was installed and it took me TEN MONTHS to get him to replace it, and yes it leaked the entire ten months and I don't think Kris cared at all. I'm not sure he had even installed a door before but luckily he brought someone with him when he put in the replacement who had, or at least he could read directions so it was done right. The roof was not tied into my existing roof correctly so it leaked all winter. It cost us an additional $2000 to have the roof repaired by someone else. Kris also lied about how the new stairs were supported. He told me the railing post at the bottom of the stairs was a few feet in the ground, that was not true, he cut the post at the ground. My yard is very sandy and the stairs needed the support. He put the stringers right on the ground, not even a patio block for support. They sank about three inches and were pulling away from the landing. He had attached a diagram with his bldg appl showing the railing posts sunk into the ground for support. His total disregard for my families safety is horrible. This type of work is inexcusable. If my review can spare someone else from having to go this this it is worth it.

We had reached out to four other window companies that either tried to reschedule, razzled us with over-the-top presentations or in one instance failed to show up at all. It was this past autumn that our college age daughter found Mastercraft online and brought it to our attention. We wanted to work with a local South Shore based company that was familiar with the area. John met with us on schedule. The meeting was refreshingly brief as it was the typical end of a long day. He presented himself and his product first rate with no smoke and mirrors. He measured each proposed window twice and assured us that his vinyl replacement windows would fit and look great in our 1837 house. At all times John was readily available by phone & text to answer any questions we had. We knew the wait time for the windows coming out of the factory and he contacted us when they arrived and promptly set up a date for installation. The installer, Steve was courteous and neat. He understood the all-to-often foibles that come with working on an antique structure. He professionally addressed any quirky issues that came up with each installation. Steve made sure each window was installed tight and secure for many years to come. Everything was completed on time and as promised. As we are preparing our home for eventual listing of the market. We are planning on having Mastercraft install two more windows where an exterior hall door is currently located. We're confident that Mastercraft will make our home of 22 years look amazing. He installed ceramic tile in the shower and on the floor, as well as new pipe and fixtures for the sink and tub / shower. We're very happy with the final result and have hired Chris on his own to do a second job for us (to remove some flooring, a wood stove and build a wall with some cubby holes built in). It's going quite well thus far! Not only is he experienced and quite knowledgeable, he works quickly and neatly. We couldn't be happier with the work he's done and plan to continue working with him in the future as we continue to renovate our home. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

On January 30, 2021, I said I agreed to the proposal and would like to sign a contract. Dean Willette said he'd come to the house the following Thursday, but didn't make the appointment. I followed up with him to move things forward and eventually he said he needed to take another look at the job at my home. He did that today and then called me to say that the job would cost an additional $8,000 - for the exact same work. Needless to say I was shocked and disappointed. I will be looking elsewhere for a contractor who will do the job for the price on his/her proposal.
