My husband and I have stayed at this hotel once per year nearly every year for the past decade. It is one of the highlights of our year. We go to Casper for the Casper dog show in July and this is our first choice for our hotel. First and foremost it is absolutely pet friendly. For us the hotel that is not pet friendly might as well not exist. We are only on the road because of the dogs and dog events so if our dogs are not allowed we will not darken the door. Second, I have not found the problems mentioned by many of the reviews of this hotel. For us the place is clean. The AC works just fine. When the AC quit they fixed it within two hours. If anything the AC is so powerful I keep having to turn it down. There is a delightful bar good food and a precious outdoor patio. There are flowers everywhere and the vistas are beautiful. For all of these reasons I recommend the hotel. But there are some other things about this hotel that no one has mentioned in the reviews I saw. First among these is the artwork. Someone with extraordinary and subtle taste, a keen ability to see something beautiful in the everyday reality of western life that is something that is reflected in the artwork. The artwork is another one of the main reasons we stay in this hotel. The Ramkota is not part of a national chain. It is a unique reflection of Wyoming, of Casper, of the west. That uniqueness is captured in the artwork and it's worth staying here for that alone. It is far more interesting than any national chain hotel. I would give this hotel five stars except for the politics. And I really do think that the ownership needs to look carefully at the diversity of its clientele and at the message being sent to its customers. Many of us are coming from outside of Wyoming. Not everybody out there thinks the way Wyoming voters think. Two years ago the floor mats in the lobby were a glorification of the fossil fuel industry. I thought "Wow, That's pretty outdated!" The management caught on and today those floormats are gone. Good for them! That is the kind of change they need to make in order to make the hotel appeal to a broad range of visitors who are not from Wyoming. But this morning at breakfast I was hit in the face with Fox News. I do understand that there are many in Wyoming who prefer and believe Fox News. But outside of Wyoming there are a lot of us who would rather open the day with a news channel that is more neutral and trustworthy. Get rid of Fox News and this would be a five-star hotel! read more

The area surrounding the hotel was not the greatest (especially at night). For $142 (1 night) it is not worth it. We stopped just to rest and break up the driving and for the price, i've stayed at MOTELS that were much nicer and at the very least, clean. Trash was left behind on the TV stand, the walls were littered with mystery fluids and stains, and the "do not disturb sign" appeared as though someone drug it through a greasy hamburger and set it aside for us. The shower was dirty enough that the wife did not feel comfortable showering. Staff weren't the friendliest and overall not an impressive experience considering the price. read more

Stayed here as a part of our 5-day tour of Mount Rushmore. This place was not as bad as other people's reviews. However, we did not go through the entire checking and booking process here since the tour company had already done it. The room, beds, and shower are all working okay, and I saw no issues. It was nice that they had a little tower animal waiting for us as we entered the room. Also, they had a counter with water and coffee for their guests. Overall, no complaints here. We just stayed one night and we went on a rented journey. read more

Absolutely horrible!! Booked weeks ahead. Came to check in and they said they don't have any rooms. They had a glitch in the system and no longer have rooms. They said there's a hotel for us down the street and they'll pay the difference. Went to that hotel and they are booked and said they never heard anything from the Ramkota! read more

Bartender Ms. Christine is one of the best if not the best Bartender in Wyoming. Definitely stay here at the Ramkota and try out the outstanding bar for amazing beer food and other alcohol with the 10/10 service bartenders who are bodacious. read more

The hotel accommodations were acceptable but the staff made this place unbearable. One person in particular. The hotel manager. She was terrible. She let one person in the bar work by herself handing an entire bar and lounge area for almost two hours. She even made the bartender order her a hamburger while she watched her work. Only after the bar patrons started yelling at the manager to help her did she begrudgingly step in and then verbally complained about having to pour drinks. What a disgusting slob of a person. She should quit. I would rather stay in any of the other area hotels than at a place where this person manages and leads so poorly. read more

I have the worst experiences here every time we stay. I have learned my lesson and will never stay again. From check in to check out-nightmare!! Last stay it took 2.5 hrs to get checked into 6 rooms -after being sent to several wrong rooms (either occupied/dirty/or wrong beds)! Our room didn't even have a shower curtain. When staying in Casper, I always stay here! Rooms are amazing, spacious, clean & modern!! Makenzie (sp sorry) great us with a smile. We arrived early and she was very accommodating! She & the hotel staff had a room ready for us in 15 mins! An amazing complimentary hotel breakfast spread is always something I look forward to and the Ramkota exceeds expectations here! As a mom, traveling with kids, that saved me $100's!!! And it was delish!! The pool is great and Renee the manager has some of the most amazing plants surrounding it! Thank you thank you!! First off. We've stayed here before and at best it was okay. We were going to stay the night there last night while we were visiting family. We booked a room through Expedia and when we got to the hotel they said they"didn't have our room in their system" then they proceeded to say they'll give us a new room but that they were now charging 200 more dollars for and which was way smaller because our original room had two queen beds and a pullout and this one had only two beds. We ended up staying at a different better hotel. read more

Went here for a work fly fishing trip and the saving grace to this outdated hotel is their staff! Every single person working here is incredibly kind, friendly, and 1000% professional. The rooms are old (think: everything made a squeaky noise) and the oddly elevated bathtubs are in desperate need of a renovation, but since everyone is so nice here - I didn't mind staying the 2 nights. It was a very, very busy weekend in early-June, so I can only hope the reno plans are in the near future. I didn't dabble in the free breakfast or hangout much in the bar, but from what I can see - kids 10 and under would have such a blast in their pool area. read more

A large hotel with Western decor; horses, stone fireplace, wagon wheels, etc. Only one pool, an indoor, 3' kiddie pool with fountains & slides, & an Alligator island in the middle. Not much use for adults. There is a small hot tub off to the side. Hotel reps at check-in counter were friendly & accommodating. The room was a little outdated but clean. The mattress was horrible. Old & so lumpy. Other guests were complaining about this as well. Not good sleeping for my five night stay. No restaurant, you order food from their bar. There was a restaurant in lobby, but not really used. Bar staff made the stay almost unbearable. Long waits for drinks & 2 hr wait for food. Said they were shorthanded. Hotel brought in one extra girl for Fri & Sat night. She was so rude, to everyone! And never cracked a smile. She made nasty comments to us & other guests. Complaints to front desk went no where. What food was served in restaurant was for a breakfast bar. Room temperature scrambled eggs, boiled sausage, over cooked bacon & undercooked potatoes. Also apples & oranges. So this is a western still stuck in the 80s. Burnt orange is the color of decor and rotten brown. That aside the customer service here is delightful. Had dinner in the bar as restaurant wasn't open but our bartender was sweet and extremely helpful. Food was average. Not bad but definitely nothing to write home about. The hotel was pretty cool, it had an indoor pool very kid friendly, the continental breakfast was amazing, eggs, hash brown, cereal, pancakes, breakfast sausage, all of your morning drinks etc... the room was nice the bed though was alittle out dated but not bad and the room was clean. OK but when a you call and ask if their hotel offers room service and give a resounding YES, and while you're checking in you ask Does this hotel offer room service? And they reply Yes we have room servic. But when you get to your room and call for room service You are told you have to come get it... I don't stay at $150 a night hotels very often so when I do I'd like to have it be a special experience. We were disappointed. There was no one at the front desk when we tried to check in and it took 20 minutes to find someone. When we made the booking we were not informed we had to make reservations to use the pool which was the whole reason we booked at this hotel. Our first room smelled so bad and was so dirty we had to switch rooms. Our second room had a bowel movement in the toilet. While the lobby and the building look nice, the rooms and falling apart and dated. They are incredibly short staffed and the staff they do have aren't trained. read more

We had 2 rooms and one had a dirty toilet and a toenail clipping in it (I wish I was making this up) and the other had mold in the shower. Picture attached as proof! We were on the 2nd floor. I'm really disappointed in this hotel. It seemed nice at first but I've had a horrible experience with them. The woman at the front desk acted like she didn't have time for us when checking in. The room was very hot to start with and I was able to only get it down to 73 degrees briefly in the morning. There were loud sounds all night long and I barely slept at all with the noise and heat. The breakfast was very low quality with only scrambled eggs and undercooked sausage offered. Then after checking out, I was charged $96.48 for no reason & haven't been able to find out why I was charged that amount. I'm told I'll get a refund but I haven't seen that & my card is charging interest on that amount. I'll stay at the National 9 before I stay here again. read more

I'm giving this hotel 3 stars because although it could've been traumatic, we were delayed an extra day on our trip, and it was a very emotionally exhausting stay, everything worked out in the end. If you are a regular visitor (no pets) then this post will not apply to you. But if you are interested in the "pet friendly" aspect of this hotel, I recommend trying somewhere else. The safety of my pet was jeopardized and we almost lost her for good. We chose this hotel because it allowed our cat to stay with us for a $20 fee. We were moving across country and needed somewhere for her to rest outside the kennel. The next morning as we started to pack up for check out we couldn't find her ANYWHERE! And I mean we searched for hours! Finally we talked to front desk/ maintenance and everyone there said she most likely got INTO the walls and plumbing from a hidden hole under the sink. Everyone said this happens all the time with cats staying and I was surprised it hadn't already been fixed considering the danger of it. We found out later that "secured" pet rooms are on the first floor and we weren't given one of those rooms. My cat is a rescue and gets scared VERY easily. If she's spooked she will find the best place to hide and stay there. If I knew there was a hole where my cat could get lost in the walls, I definitely wouldn't have stayed here. I hope the management will learn from our situation and get this fixed in EVERY room immediately! Before someone loses their pet for good. Although not every encounter we had with the employees at this hotel was good, I would like to focus on the positives. The maintenance team was very helpful. One guy came in on his day off to help and cut a hole in the wall which hours later resulted in me being able to find my cat. I want to thank him very much for going above and beyond for us and checking every floor's piping/ walls in search of her. I truly appreciate it. Another thank you goes to I believe she said she was the accountant, who filled in for management, she called everywhere for help metro, humane society and ultimately got the OK to cut a bigger hole in the wall. She was very nice and supportive. Lastly, the nighttime manager was very nice as well. She showed great compassion to us which we were missing from some of the other employees. Even tho there shouldn't have been a hole in the wall where my cat could escape into dangerous territory in the first place, I do appreciate all the employees who helped us get her back. Once again, PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE BEFORE ALLOWING MORE PETS TO STAY IN FAULTY ROOMS! And animal owners with timid babies who like to hide, beware!!! read more

I can't say enough about our wonderful experience at this hotel. Top notch service, the accommodations were wonderful. All of our needs were exceeded. Our son really enjoyed the fun indoor pool. I'd like to especially note the amazing customer service from Michael Castelblanco! The staff were all wearing masks and the rooms were very clean - I felt safe staying here during the pandemic. Barhroom floor was filthy and 1 of the beds I am not sure they changed it nice hotel but the cleaning I'd disgusting.

I usually really love staying here but not this time. First off our ac/ heater in our room didn't work but they moved us so that was fine. We ordered room service and the food was just awful but I could live with that. What really pressed my buttons was when my daughter and I were leaving the pool area. There was a guy going around telling us the pool was closing for the night. Fair enough, we started leaving. There was a few other kids in the pool getting ready to leave. Then I could here the guy starting to say racist remarks under his breath! The kids in the pool were people of color, and so are me and my daughter. I found this very offensive! So booked 2 rooms on a 3rd sight under 1 booking under my name with added second person info. Go to check in and told "we don't have another room for you". "We can give you another room but not at the same price you booked it for". Do you want to see the paperwork that shows 2 rooms... response " that isn't my problem, you booked through a 3rd party site, call them". Then because I have never worked in hotels at all said check under my friends name. Damn there was. You would think they should think this! They then gave a key to him that the room that was already full of people and could have resulted in him not only walking in on whatever but could have put his life in danger!!! Then go to the bar... first words out of the bartender's mouth to someone they were serving is "would you look happy if you had to do this sh-t".!!! Go ask for the manager after 2 hours of horrible service from start to finish and was told I would be credited with a nights stay. Stayed 07/01/2018. Room was clean and comfortable, but internet was inaccessible from wifi. Pool is shallow and geared toward older children. Having refrigerator and microwave was welcomed. I gave them 1 star because I'm feeling generous while writing this, but in reality this is more than they deserve. My wife an I decided to stay here for 1 night while on a road trip between Cody WY and Estes Park CO as part of a 2+ week road tour. First problem: rickety luggage carts! Both of us had to support and guide the cart to keep it from falling over. To make matters worse, the cart DID NOT fit through the doorway going to the elevator!!! So we had to get another cart that was slightly shorter, transfer everything and try again. Second problem: we were told they had a sizeable laundry room but when we got there it turns out there are only 2 washing machines (what are there, something like 300 rooms in this place and ONLY 2 washers?) and 1 was broken!!! So it took us hours to get 2 loads of wash done! (several people all trying to do the same thing). Third problem: it turns out there was an "all you could eat prime rib" dinner special - AND THEY RAN OUT OF PRIME RIB!!! Fourth problem: The bathroom was something out of "Alice in Wonderland". The counter height was something on the order of 3+ feet off the floor so even my wife at 4'11" had to bend over to reach the sink. At 5'9"" I almost had to get on my knees to use it! The toilet was literally listing to one side (VERY weird) and the shower was disaster! Water came out of the shower head like a fire hose and water was spraying from the valve everywhere. What a mess! Fifth problem: I parked my car off to the side so I didn't have to worry about any "door dings" (the parking lot is a mess in and of itself), and when I went down in the morning I noticed a syringe just lying there by the trunk. None of this even touches on the fact that the person at the counter the next morning was NOT happy about working and gave me attitude when I asked a simple question... And the food at the breakfast buffet was horrible (boxed eggs? SUPER salty bacon? Forget that...) The ONE saving grace - the people in the bar were SUPER NICE which is required given the rest of the crap I had to deal with. Do yourself a favor and find someplace else to stay. read more
