My father and I stayed at Red Butte Ranch over the weekend and we couldn't be happier with our choice. We stayed in the private cottage that has a grille, fully stocked kitchen, great a/c and 3 bedrooms. Ruth was a fantastic host; bringing us fresh veggies from the garden and ice cream in the evening. She made us a hearty breakfast each morning before setting out for fishing. We also had Greg take us on a Fly Fishing 1/2 day float and caught a bunch of trout. read more

What a gem. Road trip with the whole fam and didn't want to stay in a grimy chain. Called literally 15 minutes before and Ruth welcomes us. We found Ruth and her delightful home and are so glad we did. Flannel sheets, every appliance, Weber grill, coffee supplies and the river at your back door. The kids played lacrosse and football and our spaniel ran and swam for hours with Ruth's lab. We will be back for fishing and fun next time we are nearby. Stay here and support a local and enjoy the beauty of the area while sleeping in a beautiful and cozy cottage! I stayed at this B&B with my father during Pronghorn season in September. We both loved it! Ruth (proprietor) was so nice and always asked if we needed anything. Breakfast is always good here, and it's ready at the time you specify. The first morning we were there, we ate at 7am. And the other mornings we decided to get a to-go breakfast bag to be ready at 4:15-5:00am so we could get out to our hunt zone (72 antelope) which was very close to the B&B. Ruth also said that we were allowed to use the kitchen to make dinner, or that she could point us to some good restaurants in Casper,WY. Fisherman & Hunters will love this place, but so will couples or small families. Red Butte Ranch is right on the Platte River, and you even get some wildlife across the water. The message that I'm trying to get across is that I loved this B&B. And I don't normally write reviews, but I had to for this place. I don't know of many places as cool as this one, back in California, where I'm from. read more

Great people. Made my son and I feel right at home. For the two days we stayed Ruth made us great tasting and filling breakfasts. Our river guide even launched the boat from the ranch. The ranch sits on the North Platt river, a great place to sit in the evening and watch the fish rise. We'll be back for sure. read more

This is NOT your typical Bed and Breakfast. You are actually in the same house as the owner! There isn't any privacy. You share the same bathroom with whoever stays in the next bedroom (and that was an extremely awful experience). There wasn't anyone there to greet us and tell us where exactly our room was. The owner has two dogs and a cat. The house was dirty and dusty. The whole situation was awkward. It would be a great house for men only to flop in when they are looking to just hang out together. read more

My daughter and I stayed here recently on a road trip to move her across the country. Having packed until the wee hours of the morning, followed by loading the vehicle in the morning, we were exhausted when we arrived about 1/2 an hour before sunset. We swam in the Platte River, which backs the property, to unwind. Ruth was a delightful hostess! Our room was comfortable and clean. The decor is pleasing to both hunters/fishers, and folks just looking for a getaway. I arose early in the morning & watched sunrise from the porch. Breakfast was delicious and very filling. We chose to eat with the other guests and enjoyed pleasant conversation with everyone. This was a very relaxing & peaceful way to begin our cross-country journey. It was much better than being in a motel or hotel where we felt rushed. It felt like staying with long lost friends rather than strangers. (Note to townfolk: It is best to arrive before dark to best see where you're going. From the south: Turn left off the main road, then take an immediate left down the hill. To get to the main house, stay left.) read more

I absolutely LOVED this little slice of heaven. This had similar amenities as other B&Bs I've stayed in. There were NO hidden surprises. The owner was gracious and give her an A+ for hospitality. My mornings were spent along side the banks of the Platte River with several cups of coffee and served my morning breakfast. Her two dogs, Lucy and Sage, were pleasant pals who decided to hang out with me during my morning retreats and couldn't have asked for better company. Our room was the Australia room and could not have asked for a more comfortable bed, near better than my one at home. I would definitely return and encourage others to visit.
