We wanted to then have an extended weekend and figured we might explore fishing or something else. We found Kyle and the Fin & Feathers Club through Yelp. We coordinated two days of fishing on the Bighorn River (also called the Wind River upstream of Thermopolis) and we had blast. Kyle brings everything you need for fishing - boat, poles, bait / flies, etc. - and also brings food and drinks. The elk shish-ka-bobs were awesome! We have fished for trout before but not fly fished. Kyle showed us how to cast as we floated, and showed us how to work as a pair - the front of the boat casting first. We were blessed with both beautiful weather and a strong afternoon storm - we were safe and sound and enjoyed getting a little wet. The fish... oh-h-h-h the fish... we caught and released several and we kept two and they were GOOD eating. Kyle is a fantastic person and guide - you'll be glad you fish, and/or hunt, with him. I've been…read morefishing for a long time, off and on, in Montana spring creeks and the San Juan River in New Mexico, but this was one of the best fishing experiences of my life. I caught some big fish, and they were fun to haul in. ​Once hooked, they would run, tak​ing a lot of line, then eventually tire themselves out and surrender. It was thrilling. I brought along my daughter because I wanted to get her mind away from​ g.d. tik-tok and give her outdoor experiences as I had growing up. She was reluctant at first, but then she started catching healthy rainbows, and she got to experience the thrill of having a fighting fish on her line. By the end of the second day, she didn't need any prompting; she got her line out there and caught some big ones. Her teen cousins and my brother were in the other boats. They also caught some monsters and loved it. My brother and I were so happy to have turned our kids on to fishing. It was beautiful out there. We saw antelope, golden eagles and bald eagles. It was a special, memory-making day for all. N.B. A Casper native, Oggie knew the river well. The key to success was listening carefully to him as he knew exactly where the fish were. When I mended my line correctly and pulled back hard enough as they struck, I caught some beautiful trout. Oggie was a delight to talk with--good banter and stories. He was patient when we snagged our lines. He told funny jokes and was knowledgeable about Wyoming. Can't recommend these guys highly enough. It's a first-class operation. Liz and Ryan are friendly and hospitable, and they sent us out with some tasty sandwiches/cookies and fruit for lunch. I even dug their logo design and bought a hat! Just a great day. Liz hooked me up (pun intended) with a GREAT GUIDE, Ben Krueger. I've fished the North Platte and Grey Reef before but this was the first time for my Grandson Jack and having Ben guiding, rowing, rigging and teaching Jack made a very pleasant and memorable experience for my Grandson.
