I wanted to grab a delicious breakfast this Valentine's Day, and since I was right across at Fisher Tire, I was watching all of the people flooding into Rami's Cafe. At around 11:00 am, I walked over and grabbed a seat at the bar, because all of the other tables and booths were filled with happy diners. On one side of the menu you have your breakfast, and the other has everything you'd want for lunch. I started with my usual cup of coffee, and then opted for the two eggs, toast and bacon. For a place that was packed, my food didn't take very long to come out. Everything was delicious, and I especially loved that they had an option for marble rye toast. Sally, my waitress, was the sweetest. She took great care of me and made sure my first time here was perfect!! I also loved their hanging lights and sweet Valentines decor, which was a nice touch. Nice quality food indeed. The setting is a nicely refurbished bar and the setting is quaint. Food is up fairly quickly and the quality is top notch. The staff are easily 5 stars. There is sufficient quantity within the meal and for the price its a very good value. Parking is limited (BUT it's an old neighbourhood bar) and so patience is required. Its clean and bright inside. I'll start with the pros. The biscuits are freaking amazing. I mean absolutely AMAZING! I could eat a tray of them. The best I've had in years. Unfortunately, the chicken fried steak was very small and pretty low quality. It was definitely mostly breading, very little ACTUAL meat. I was pretty disappointed. My senior citizen church friend enjoyed her meal satisfactorily. Restaurant is pretty small and so is the parking lot, so try and go at an off time if you don't want a long wait. Service was pretty good. I will possibly be back but I'll definitely order something different if I do. Nothing was overly wrong with visit, just was not impressed with the primary entree at all. We were in the Knoxville area and decided to try this place for lunch. The breakfast reviews sounded wonderful so we were hoping that lunch would also be good. The restaurant is reminiscent of a diner from the 60's- typical downtown diner. The parking is in the rear. When we walked in, the sign said to please seat ourselves so we found an empty booth and sat down. There was plenty of available seating. A server came right over with menus and took our drink order. The special for the day-and not on the menu- was Country Style Steak with mashed potatoes and green beans or corn. I ordered that with the green beans and my husband ordered the Chicken Philly with the peppers. Both meals came out quickly. The steak was basically a hamburger patty with gravy on top. It tasted very good. The mashed potatoes were homemade and delicious! The green beans were seasoned just right. It also came with grilled bread slices that were very good. They were grilled with butter and flattened just like I make my grilled cheese. Very good! The chicken Philly was delicious. It was just right for one person but probably not big enough to be shared. It came with the peppers plus grilled onions and lettuce and tomato. The fries were hot and crisp. Rami's was an excellent meal in a historic looking restaurant that took us back in time. We stopped in on a week day after Christmas for breakfast. I had the Greek omelette with rye toast. It was delicious!! Cooked perfectly and had fresh spinach!! My husband had the western omelette and he's said it was the best he has had in awhile. read more

Very enjoyable Wednesday morning breakfast. I was invited here by friends who live in the area that frequent Rami's, so the company I was in already guaranteed this would be a good visit. Sure enough, we sat down in a booth and the waitress asked, "coffee and orange juice as usual?" I love that personal touch. The coffee was poured as I perused the menu, which had just the right variety without being daunting. I was told the omelets were good, but I settled on the "Ultimate BLT" on rye bread, with an added egg on top. The sandwich was pretty big, definitely filling. Delicious. If I lived closer, I'd be a regular who gets recognized walking in. Unfortunately, I don't live nearby... but I will be back. Hopefully soon. read more

Hidden in Plain Sight Gem! My mom lives right down the street, we've driven by thousands of times and never knew this Cafe was here! Service was excellent. It's refreshing coming from the DMV and experiencing Southern hospitality. Rami's is a seat yourself, take your check to the cashier to pay your bill. Service in between is so homey, relaxed. My mom loved her fresh made burger with all the toppings. My veggie grilled cheese was different but yummy. Grilled cheese with mayo, lettuce and tomato. My Aunt raved about the housemade cole slaw. Saturday 10:30, parking was available, but tight! Restaurant 3/4 full but we were immediately seated. Seated at clean booth, where I commence watching the wait staff. WOWZA! First word that comes to mind is professional. Quick, watchful, polite with smiles. Breakfast menu had something for everyone. If one is looking for French or bougie....this isn't your place. I had the potato omelet, wheat toast, hubby had 2 eggs scrambled, ham, biscuits/gravy. He rated his 4 of 5. Ham was sandwich ham, "not ham, ham". Portions sizes good, not excessive, coffee good.. We came here for breakfast yesterday because my friend's bosses recommended it and I'm so glad they did! I had never come to this area to eat before, and I thought Rami's and the surrounding area was so cute! To start off, the prices on the menu are great. I don't know if it's because breakfasting has become a fad but I think a lot of other restaurants that serve breakfast jack up their prices for no reason.. Rami's thankfully has not. My friend even mentioned that she "agrees with the pricing". On top of that? The food is pretty great! I got the Rami's breakfast special with sunny side up eggs, sausage, and rye bread, and I was completely satisfied. One friend got the ultimate omelet and said she really liked it. Another friend got the Reuben sandwich and actually described it as "exquisite". Apparently he's not alone - our waitress said some people go to Rami's JUST for the Reuben sandwich, so if you're into reuben's, definitely try this one out. Also side note, if you get a chance to check out the pictures on the wall across from the bathroom, definitely do so because they're hilarious. read more

I live in the area and have visited Rami's several times. It is a seat yourself place and on the weekends it can fill up quickly. I never have to wait long for a seat at the counter. All of the servers have been very sweet. The food is always delicious and they have some of the best breakfast potatoes in town. I'm pretty sure the white toast is grilled in butter rather than toasted but it's delicious so I'm not complaining. The only reason it's not five stars is the bar stools at the counter are too high and you end up hunching over to eat your food as the counter is practically sitting on your lap. read more

Came here this morning with my husband for breakfast . Our waitress took our order and then she went ghost ! Some one else brought our meal - never received a refill on our coffee until I asked several times . I ordered a orange juice and had to ask for that too . When I looked at our receipt I noticed she charged us for two coffees when we only ordered one ! My meal was ok ! The only reason I am giving one star is the restrooms were clean ! My husband and I decided to try Rami's for the first time ever and we really enjoyed it. The atmosphere has a home town comfort to it which is something that I miss since I grew up in a small town. The food is very affordable and less than $10 per plate. We will be coming back! read more

I have been here twice. Both times the food was good. The service was very good with a delightful server the first time. However the service the 2nd visit was barely adequate. I was never offered a refill on our drinks. The server acted like our presence there was barely tolerable. To top it off they tried to overcharge us by nearly $20. read more

One of my top 3 local places to enjoy breakfast in Knoxville. I love overlight eggs and imo they offer the best in Knoxville every single time. Coffee is always fresh. The biscuits are traditional southern and fresh. The gravy is good. The service is good and servers are super friendly. Ramy is always in the kitchen which is open to the dining room and he is always friendly. They offer a full breakfast and lunch menu but I stick to breakfast because it really is that nice. My 9 year old son and I were told we couldn't be served because there weren't 4 of us. There was noone waiting behind us to "seat yourself" as the sign directs. The server just told us we can't sit where we were even though all other seats were taken. She didn't even offer to have us wait for another available table, she simply told us to leave. read more

Every time I've ever gone to this establishment, I've never been disappointed until today. Me and my friend came for a quick and easy breakfast, but as we sat down, we were greeted by a girl with a short haircut and tattoos. The appearance is not the issue, but the attitude that is within, she greets the table with nothing other than, "what do you want to drink" then she gets very close to my friend's face with an attitude and says "a water with lemon" but my friend said she needed a minute. After she brought the drinks, she said "order?" and that's all. I have never been more disappointed in my experience at this restaurant, typically you were greeted with a smile an excellent customer service. I will be considering if I am returning customer.. We just ate our "to go" order, 2 country breakfasts. The over medium eggs were fine, the potatoes had just enough salt added. The biscuit and gravy was good, the the slice of ham was so very salty and very tough! And this is why I hate to go orders. If I had dined in the restaurant, I would have sent the ham back, it was that bad! With the Covid issues, we're not dining in, so we're depending on Yelp reviews to decide where to eat. Came here right before our drive to Nashville. We came here for a late breakfast and it was pretty busy. Looks like a lot of business men come here on their lunches. The place is a tad run down, but over all very clean. It is a tad old school from what I am used to in California- def homely. I ordered and omelette and toast and it was cooked just perfectly. Nothing fancy about it, but i also wasn't looking for fancy. It was a home cooked meal for sure and it was tasty and filling. Our server was a delight. She was so polite and attentive to all her tables. I always carry around my water canteen and she offered to fill it up for me- it was a very sweet jester. The prices are great. This business has an incredibly racist staff that refused to serve us for lunch and brought menus/took orders from three tables that sat after us before a younger staff member finally came over and was apologetic. Perfect sweet and homey ! My son almost ordered a second plate of food and he is the pickiest eater. The service was outstanding . We were traveling to Texas and this was the perfect spot to break and have the best cup of coffee and meal .
