So I purchased a very gently used (less than 2 hours of run time) Made in China generator and got a great deal. I purchased it to get ready for this large ADU build I was scheduled to start. It offered 3800 watts and again it was a great deal. The reason for the great deal? While it ran the carburetor leaked. I decided to take it to these guys because I found them on yelp! He told me he'd look at it and said it would take about a week before I got it back. One week later I dropped in on them and didn't see my unit so I thought it was the back on the workbench getting worked on. He said we had to order a part. I said ok and left. Another week went by and I dropped in on them again, and he said yeah we ordered the part and it should be here soon and it may be ready this weekend. I didn't hear from them so today Friday almost a week after it was promised I dropped in on them again and said hey I'm here about my generator is it ready? The young guy that works hand in hand with Ramirez said "Oh sometimes it takes a few weeks to get the part". Very frustrated I said "Just give it back, I'm good". That's when I knew something was not right. I thought he was going to go to the back and wheel the generator to me in pieces or at least disassembled but no just to the right of the entry in a holding area sat my generator completely assembled and apparently not touched at all. Three weeks these guys held my $hit. I put it in the back of my truck and left rather pissed to be honest. I remembered another lawn mower service shop on the Northside on the corner of Long Beach Blvd and Artesia unfortunately they are not on yelp but I recalled doing business with them many years ago. I took my generator there and told the Gentleman Oscar Mendez what the symptoms were he said leave it and he'll take a look. I asked how long before he can get to it and he said "today". No less than three hours later his team member called me and said "It's ready and she's running good... very good" I went to pick it up and Oscar told me "This thing is new! The only issue was the float was stuck and there was a pin jammed". I asked him "You didn't have to change any parts"? He said "Nope". I went immediately back to this Ramirez shop and gave them a piece of my mind. I gave them an earful! I showed them the working unit, told them it didn't need any parts as they stated and I called them LIARS! They LIED to me and I don't deal with LIARS! Where do I start? I brought my pressure washer in for an oil change and tube up. Nothing wrong with my machine. So, I pay, pick it up and use it that following weekend. I starts leaking oil. So I take it back. I explained what happened. He said it was a gasket or something. I. Upset because my machine was in perfect condition. But whatever. Just give me my machine in working condition. I pay, again, get it back and it still leaks oil! I call him and ask him what's going on? He said to bring it in to fix it. I say, "No way am I paying more!" He said, "well, get a new machine". Highly recommend Mr. Ramirez's shop! Not sure why there are bad views at all. The customer service was great, they are very polite and easy going. They have been in business and at this location since 2001. I had a pressure washer that was down on its luck from being mistreated and left outside in the elements, would not start. Dropped it off to Mr Ramirez with ease, as they are open late, and six days a week. Mr Ramirez replaced the carburetor and gave it a complete tuneup, with a swift turnaround. I left my weed trimmer for repair. It was there for two weeks and no status or update call, so I came in to pick it up regardless if it was fixed or not. At this point he seemed a bit upset. He said he was too busy as he was pointing at all the other pieces of equipment that needed repairs. He says he doesn't have time to call customers. However, he did insist that he can fix it or would take a look at it and to give him three more days. I said no thanks. This owner can use some help and learn about customer service skills. Our lawnmower has been sitting in the shed for two years. It was time to take it out and start using it again. After following the necessary instructions (oil, fuel, blade check, and numerous other steps) I was ready and raring to go. I had on my mask, goggles, and protective gloves, only to discover my mower would not start. I became frustrated and troubleshot for an hour. I recalled driving by Ramirez Lawn Mower Shop hundreds of times. So instead of buying a brand new lawn mower, I decided to see if they could help. I brought the mower in and was greeted by an employee. I asked him if he could take a look and decipher the problem. He asked me what was wrong with it, so I told him it wouldn't start, and it's been sitting in my shed for two years. He immediately replied, "it must be the carburetor. It'll be $60, and we can have it for you in a few days." I said, "can you take a closer look? It may just be the spark plug (which is a few dollars), stale fuel, or some other small problem." He insisted that it was the carburetor, and did no further investigating into the matter. $60, no inspection, no trouble shooting. How could he know it would be $60 before even trying to fix it? I asked once more if he could simply try changing the spark plug for me. His answer was still no. Nothing personal, but this was definitely a "meh - I've had better" experience. It surely was not A-ok. Alas, I am going to try to fix it myself for much cheaper. If it turns out to actually be the carburetor, I'll rescind the two star rating. read more

Horrible service ever!! We took my dad's machine to get some work done, they didn't even bother to say that it wasn't longer fixable instead they charged him $200 dollars making him think something was done to it. My dad took it back complaining about about the item and they refused to help him & return his money back !!! My dad insisted to get his machine done, he was also insulted with bad wording & was not treated like a customer that he's been for couple years now. Ramirez' shop fixed what others said could not be fixed. I have on two occasions taken garden equipment to Hara's for repair because of the five star reviews. The first time it was an Echo weed wacker that in hindsight most likely only needed a tune up. Hara's after having it for a week told me they could not repair it. I took it home and gave it away and bought a new one. The second time it was a 1 year old Craftsman lawn mower that had been sitting idle due to my having shoulder surgery and would not start. This time he came out from in back and told me it could not be repaired because it had a plastic carburetor. At least on this occasion I knew right away rather than having to wait a week. Not satisfied with this answer I looked up an alternate repair shop (Ramirez) and took it there. They accepted it and told me it might need a replacement carb. and that they would let me know. A week later they called to tell me it was repaired.............NO EXTRA PARTS NEEDED! So you who have in your negative reviews said "they told me it needed a new carb.".....maybe it really did. Truth of the matter is that it seems Hara's will only repair what they want and you won't know until you drag it in there if they will even work on your machinel. I probably could have gotten that weed wacker fixed at Ramirez' and not have had to buy a new one. Thanks for nothing Hara's! If I could give you a big fat zero I would. I found the customer service at Ramirez to be professional and to the point. Had a chainsaw that was sitting for years and of course would not start. It was a professional model and so I tried all the close shops near me and it was the same answer, we only work on certain brands. I kept looking and found this place, walked in and first asked if he worked on any brand, he said anything you bring we can fix it. Left it there and 2 days later they called and said it was fixed. Picked it up and received a long lecture on how to start it and how to maintain it so it would always start and run good, price was in the medium range but looks like the quality was high.... read more

I read some of the reviews and found it odd that this shop always states to replace the carburetor without tearing it down or even starting it. But I used Ramirez before when I was given some lawn care equipment and he did a good job. I have a two year old Honda, that I love and at idle it would rev up and down so I took it into the shop. After I explained the problem - his first words is to replace the carburetor , I laughed and explain I had read the shop reviews and the seems to be the first thing he says. He said he doesn't read those things. Told him he should . With that aside , they do great work ( Granted he is pushing the carburetors ) but I'm still happy when it's done.
