Niles hills in late afternoon resemble the Palouse up in Washington state.  Corn and a few other crops still growing even into Aug. 2015.

Ramirez is up and running at 35075 Alvarado=Niles, just over the bridge into Union City! Enter his Farm Market from SOUTHBOUND Alvarado-Niles, shortly before the bridge (which is getting replaced) up over BART. It is just after you pass Osprey. You have to slow down or you could miss his driveway. My wife thinks Ramirez is great. Sadly, the 882 rental units will boot out the last farm in Fremont. Ramirez says he will move to Union City. As of Sept. 29 Ramirez appears to be well on the way to gone. Ramirez is now operating in Union City; we bought some lovely Hatch peppers and green beans. Maybe the plan for 882 units can be improved in some ways, such as by requiring individual water meters on this new construction. I attended the study meeting on Sept. 29, and it looks to me as though the density will be moderately reduced. Folks, take a look at my attached views of Mission Peak from Litchfield Ave. on the north. One is colored as the impressionist Monet would paint it. Now, it's time to hit the "cool" button, n'est-ce pas?

These were my tacos I made with the delicious butter lettuce and chile

Never coming back. Their was an employee who was rude. Didn't want me to choose the corn and if I did was going to be charged a dollar.

When are they actually open? I come on a Saturday noon and there's nothing. Have also driven by on weekdays with no luck.

It's big enough but not huge and the vendors are unique. Plus I like that it's on Saturdays rather than sundays because you know Sunday is reserved for the Lord. This farmer's market was only one market aisle long. Yes, that's how short it was to explore all vendors. Service was based on each vendor. I only go there for Harina Baked Goods for their Filipino pastries and Ube Haupia pie (must order), based in Livermore, and Jazzpresso's lattes. There was a long line at Starter Bakery, where you had to decide which pastry and bread to order since they don't have labels. The pastries were too sweet for my Asian taste, though. Since parking is usually full on the side of the stalls, I managed to find one behind the fence, which was a bit of a rocky drive and had a pothole in the middle. It was a bit small to enter and exit. Another option is to park across the train station, where you have to walk for a bit. Remember to bring your own bag when shopping for takeout. I recommend walking to the produce end first, then end at Starter Bakery to compare the prices and decide which is worth purchasing.

Everything feels thoughtfully made--beautifully balanced flavors, impeccable textures, and that "how is this so good?" kind of freshness. A few can't-miss favorites: the kouign-amann (flaky, buttery perfection) in pumpkin, classic plain, chocolate, and seasonal fruit flavors like peach. The mini carrot cake is pure comfort--moist, warmly spiced, and just the right amount of indulgent. Their winter Brown Tea Cake is a cozy standout, and the apple tartlets are the ideal sweet-tart bite. And the winter cookie special? Absolute winner-winner-chicken-dinner. Bonus points: Christine offers delivery once you hit a spend threshold, and if you catch them at a local farmers market, you'll be greeted by her husband with a big smile, a lovely story, and the best "what you should try next" recommendation. Bring these to your next office meeting (or don't share--no judgment). You won't be disappointed.

Individuals kept wondering if the flea market will ever be back... And it did come back! EVERY 2nd/SECOND SATURDAY OF EVERY MONTH, March to November, 9am to 2pm And now FREE PARKING! It used to be $2 to park! I gave it the rating I did because/ 1. Since the re-opening, I never purchased a single thing 2. Vendors are all pretty much the same (and it's hilarious some of the faces are familiar and seen at estate sale hunts) 3. Love how they attempt a theme and have added old school cars to the mix! 4. The vendors are not the nicest... they don't budge and are not willing to negotiate (I mean that's the fun of flea markets!) 5. Kind of pricey. Pretty much all antique and used items. A couple of vendors sell new but very "made in China" items 6. Products are often repeated aka the same 7. It's not huge... you could probably walk the entire thing in less than 30 minutes Would I come back? I just love estate sales, rummage sales, flea markets, etc. It's great to walk around especially when you don't have the mindset of "must have to buy"

For summer break we decided to start the day here and find lunch close by. It was much larger and busier than it was in Winter. The great thing is free parking and free admission, the walk from parking to the fleamarket is very close. If you want to sell here the pricing per spot is low and you can pull in easily with your car. I believe each spot is $20 and this fleamarket happens the 2nd Saturday of every month. They do a good job of attracting vendors with that sell newer items in bulk, more classic garage style bring your old junk, plants, antiques, and some food trucks. The coolest thing we did was probably the train ride that goes through the fleamarket and car show. The car show area did smell like something peope like to smoke though :) It does get hot later in the day in Summer so best to come early. We ended up leaving with some nice snacks and old books for the kids.
