As the two bowls came out, she placed our order on the table and slammed our utensils and napkins on the table. My hubby and I looked @ each other, WOW, having a bad day? We didn't say anything inappropriate. Gosh, the ramen was ok, it wasn't the best and it was timid at best. We scurried and left, didn't wish to be in a negative space. Would we be back? I really appreciate the vegan broth they make here, especially when asked for spicy. It's delicious and perfect. The noodles are excellent. I would love to have even more vegan meat options or mushrooms, peanuts etc but I seriously think that this is a go to for vegan ramen! The pros: good flavor on the broth Noodles were not soggy Egg was decent (not perfect but good enough) The cons: the pork was awful - mine was over cooked & full of fat. So disappointing One co-worker ordered the seafood ramen & said it was bland and not good. My other 2 co-workers ordered Hawaiian BBQ plates and none of them finished their plates saying it was horrible. I liked the menu selection. They have lumpia, spam musubi, short ribs, ramen, rice bowls. The hardest thing was rehung to decide what i wanted. I saw many people today order the black garlic ramen so I had to try it! I must say it had great flavor, everything inside tasted really good i asked for a mild spice level it wasn't spicy at all probably should have said medium for a better kick. After i was done eating... I got a to go bowl and still had it filled to the top. I also noticed a customer order a mini plate. Those mini plates aren't that mini. You most certainly get a bang for your buck. Now for my lunch break, i think this will be my new spot Also another thing I really love is the customer service. I was in the mood for Hawaiian BBQ so finally made way to Ramen 101. The space is clean with indoor seating available. Order at the counter and they bring the food when it is ready. I went for the BBQ and was disappointed by the lack of BBQ flavor on the delivered dish. I ordered chicken and although it was grilled nicely, very tender and there was tons of it, I didn't want to have to add a packet of sauce. Also the limp and unseasoned cabbage and broccoli were an issue for me. That said, regardless of the BBQ meal you order you are going to get a lot of meat, so if that is your thing, this is your place. All that being said, the goyzas we started with were terrific. They came out literally piping hot and perfectly crispy with a luscious filling although they were served on 10 strings of lettuce (see picture). I intend to come back and check out the ramen since that may be more in line with their sweet spot. And thank you for the self serve, cold, lemon water - very nice touch. We were driving around town looking for a place to eat and saw this place and decided to give it a try. The outside looked very dirty and food laying outside, not the best location. Inside looked nice and clean and very appealing and caught our attention. Everything on yelp looked really good and the food looked delicious!! I felt like the food was over priced especially when the food wasn't the best. The food had to flavorful and felt like it was missing that kick to stand out from other restaurants. The Ramon soup was not the best, I also didn't like how they only gave three of our food orders in a fancy bowl and the other two in a takeout plastic containers when we told them we were eating in. I was not fully satisfied with the food. Once I had finished my food I still felt the need to eat more food due to the fact of not being satisfied with my food. Been picking up ramen and Hawaiian BBQ for the past few months. 1) Simple online ordering from the company website (not the Yelp link). The prices are cheaper and 10% off regardless. If you pick a specific time or even day, the food is prompt and ready. 2) Sketchy peeps hanging out in parking the lot behind the store. What else can I say? Just be aware and careful! 3) Great customer service. It must be family owned. Lately there's a young woman who gives me the latest feeds on Kpop. It's on their television always. Blackpink is her favorite. I'm more into Everglow. Haha! 4) The food is ALWAYS consistent and good. Considering takeout ramen, it's packaged well! Ramen 101 is a small chain here in the Bay. Luckily they just opened up in the former Smash Burger building just blocks from our place. They offer Ramen classics like Tonkatsu, Miso and Black garlic with some interesting options like Pork rib ramen as well. Their menu also includes many Hawaiian food staples like Teriyaki chicken plates, chicken katsu with lots of appetizers like spam musubi and lumpia. During my recent visit I chose a bowl of Tonkatsu and Miso ramen with some lumpia to start. My wife really liked her Tonkatsu ramen, she liked the generous portions of sliced pork and medium spicy broth. I ordered the Miso ramen with spicy broth, and the heat level was just right. The lumpia was good, but pretty basic when compared to any Filipino restaurant offering. Overall we were very happy, and are excited that we have a Ramen place so close to home. Yelpers, you have to take advantage of the 20% discount with your check-in!! I unfortunately checked-in after the fact, but I'll be back to claim my savings! My only negatives are that the broths lacked true depth of flavor like you get at other high end Ramen places in Oakland. I went early around 12 to grab my kids some welcome baby food for the hospital. I never heard or saw this restaurant before. Best decision! I grabbed the family dinner which included 3 meats and a large side of macaroni salad and rice. I chose the ribeye, beef and chicken teriyaki which came with broccoli. Mediocre at best. The food was subpar and the quality was low. The sauce was from a bottle, the noodles were processed, and the ingredients were just mediocre and taste was not alright. They do give you a decent size helping of everything for the cost, but it doesn't taste all that great. Plus my daughter got sick from eating the egg. So really what can you say about a place like that. It is located in the old Smashburger location. FOOD: I got the BBQ plate which was monotone in color despite having ordered two different kinds of chicken. The Mac salad was basic but the rice was good. And we all know how I feel about rice. But what was bad was the Ramen. And if you were going to name your restaurant Ramen 101, fundamentally your Ramen should be good if not great! SERVICE: Okay. The food was packaged up when they said it would be, so that was good. However, the plastic shield they use is too big for the space. I leave a lot of 5 star reviews and that's because I truly only leave feedback if it's an excellent experience. My partner and I live nearby and have seen this place many times. Usually we already have other plans so we've never gone in, but we decided to try it last weekend. It will now probably be our favorite spot around here Food: we got the chicken katsu, crab rangoons, lumpia, and the miso ramen. All but the rangoons were a 5/5 for us. The rangoons had more cream cheese than we were expecting, but they were still good. The standard katsu bowl came with enough food that I had 2 full plates of leftovers (which heated up well). My partner also said that the ramen had enough for at least two meals, but he was hungry so he ate basically the whole thing Service: the cashier was very kind to us and checked in again after we got our food. The food was amazing! 10/10 purchased the seafood ramen spicy. It was amazing. The service was a bit difficult, because of the mask and a slight language barrier of the cashier. The interior was beautiful. However one thing that I didn't like wa the bussing station. That area made the restaurant look disorganized. Things that should be in a closet away from view such as the extra drinks for the fridge and a big open trash can along with the dish bin is an eye sore and makes the beautifully decorated restaurant look trashy. Also the light fixtures and the bottom of the tables had a degree of filth on them. Very visible. Other than that I'd eat here again. For the great food and fast service. read more

I've driven by this location a million times and decided to walk in today. I went in and it was really clean and nice looking. I was immediately greeted and walked through the menu. I decided on the teriyaki chicken with comes with 3 scoops of rice, pasta salad, and a vegetable medley. I also got a bottle of sprite. My meal ended up costing about $16 which is a tad bit expensive. The food itself was very hot and fresh. They loaded me up on chicken which I appreciated. The sauce wasn't overly flavorful but it was tasty overall. The chicken was nice and moist, I did have a couple large chunks of cartilage that I would've liked not to be included. If you have an extra lemon at home, I recommend cutting it up and squeezing a few on it to enhance it even more. Their bbq mix plate is filling, several cuts of marinate chicken, short ribs, and beef; my own reservation about is the lack of rice which is important in these kinds of dishes. The idea of rice is to compliment the protein, it serves as a way to balance the flavors that come with the meat; when there's an uneven ratio of rice to meat you're left with too much of one thing, and that's exactly what happened, I had a tiny scoop of rice but a ton of meat, but fortunately I've got extra rice at home. I'd order from this place again, quick service, friendly staff. Price is on the higher end of the scale, particularly for Hawaiian themed meals. Decided to order from here because I've heard really good things about other Ramen101 locations. However, I think this will be my first and last time ordering from here. While service was good and they took a short time to prep our order, the food itself was a miss. We got the Seafood Ramen, Chicken Ramen, and Grill Whole Squid. Would say that the squid was the best thing we've tried. Portion of squid was generous and squid was tender. However, the sauces that went with it did not complement the dish at all, would be much better eating the squid alone. Both ramen options did not taste so good. The Seafood Ramen had a lot of ingredients, i.e. scallops, shrimp, crab meat, bean sprouts, mushroom, corn, etc. and ramen noodles were cooked perfectly but the broth was lackluster. Chicken Ramen- I was not a fan of at all. Broth tasted really weird and lacked depth or any rich flavor. In addition to that, despite the generous amounts of chicken being given, the chicken itself left a bad aftertaste in my mouth. Couldn't even finish it and stomach felt off afterwards. I hate to do this but this place is probably one of the worst ramen places I've ever been to. Not sure if food was prepared in an inadequate fashion that day or the quality here is awful. This is a pretty new addition to the area. It's a plus there's another Japanese food option in town. They give a good portion of chicken katsu, but it's not the best I've ever had. The macaroni salad side was just right. I ordered for pick up here and it was ready fast enough. Compared to other Hawaiian bbq places that also serve chicken katsu, ramen 101 was quite fast. I'll be back to try the ramen. I definitely recommend calling in to order first. There is a parking lot behind the entrance, so it's a quick pick-up option. [COVID REVIEW] I got advertisements on Instagram for their opening deal, and I was definitely down to get some BOGO ramen! My fiancé and I are almost always in the mood for ramen actually, a BOGO deal just sweetens it for us. Upon entering, I noticed that Ramen 101 is very much like a fast-food type place for ramen. The prices are cheaper, its a lot more food. We ordered the kaarage, the tonkotsu ramen, and the black garlic ramen. Both of us like our ramen with a little spice added. I was impressed by how much kaarage we got and the flavoring of it. I loved the fact that they separated our ramen noodles, toppings, and our broth from each other so it stayed fresh on the way home. This was a ton of food and even fed me to the next day. Everyone had masks on, and you order behind a plastic shield. There's no indoor seating currently. I asked how he was doing and he told me fine until I walked in, I don't know him and never met him before . And it's in my nature to ask people how they are as a courtesy.
