Executive Plaza Hotel - Coquitlam

There aren't a whole lot of hotels to choose from in Coquitlam, so if you find yourself in the…read morearea, the Executive Plaza is a pretty safe bet. I recently found myself without a place to stay in my former hometown and after a quick search, settled on this hotel because it ticked the boxes: affordable, good location, and looks decent. Just a few issues: Even though I'm sure our room was ready when we arrived (around noon) we were basically told they don't start doing any sort of check in till 1:30. Fine, we went for lunch across the street. I travel several times a month at times, and find that most hotels will just put you in a room. The fan/heat in the room is exceptionally loud and even with earplugs sounds like there is a big rig idling outside the window. And lastly, and thankfully everyone was decent, a maid came to our door, knocked once and immediately opened the door to bring us 2 stir-sticks we didn't even ask for. We both thought this was odd. Some positives: Clean and recently renovated. You can walk to the skytrain. Next door to a pub/nightclub and across the street from White Spot (a Vancouver mainstay for somewhat decent food). I stayed here about 20 years ago on my wedding night as well. I guess we didn't yelp back then. I don't remember having any issues then. Overall, I'd stay at this hotel again if I needed a place to stay for a couple of nights.

Brides and grooms - look elsewhere for guest accommodation! This is a 2 star motel with access to…read morerooms from the outside only, a lack of basic amenities and no elevators. - Overpriced. We were charged $300/night (far more than the posted online price) and in no way aligned with the amenities and cleanliness of the place - Poor wayfinding. Lack of signage e.g. to lobby - Uncomfortable- Hard bed and thin pillows - Loud- thin walls and next to a highway/road noise all night long - No cribs/playpens/places for babies to sleep. We called ahead requesting a crib. They asked us to call again the morning of. When we did, we were told they had absolutely no place for our baby to safely sleep. - unsafe: have to walk into the street from the lobby to access rooms, unsavory guests partying by the parking lot late into the night - Poor customer service - Parking lot is small with limited spots and tight- see photo We were traveling from out of town to a wedding and were all part of the wedding party. We seriously considered finding alternative accommodation due to the issues above. The wedding day ended up being too busy for us to find time to move. Don't make the same mistake we did- find another place to stay especially if you have little ones.

This hotel is low key. The entrance is in a plaza. It's easy to miss it. There's an American…read moreand Canadian flag in the front. The front door is locked and you have to call the front desk to ask them to open it. Or if they see you they will let you in. I was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and welcomed. Check in was easy and seamless. The front desk people explained everything clearly. There's a code on the door to get in and out. Parking is at the back, It is safe with plenty of lights and cameras. I left my luggage in the car overnight and staff said they have not heard of any incident of theft. I parked my car close to the entrance as well. If you are not comfortable leaving your belongings in the car then you can bring it to your room. I had a very heavy luggage that's why I didn't feel lugging it around in a flight of stairs. No elevator by the way. The front desk is open until 12 am. There are 2 complimentary bottled water in my room. There's free refills beside the front desk as well as free snacks like popcorn, banana, pop tarts, hot tea, etc. The room is clean and decent. It is simple. Room comes with cable tv, small fridge, microwave, and steamer. Next door has a gym and I believe for hotel guests there's just a $5 fee to gain access each time. Nearby there are 2 pizza places, and a sushi restaurant. You will need a car if you want more options to eat or coffee. I'm giving this five stars for what it is, clean and friendly service by the staff. Of course it cannot be compared to five star accommodations but for something inexpensive and short stay, it is worth considering this option.

A small cozy boutique hotel by Queensborough landing…read more We chose this hotel due to its proximity to the Queensborough outlets & Starlight Casino - both within walking distance. When we arrived it was late and the door was locked. We called the number & Rebecca came to help us. Despite the late hour, she was super friendly, funny and helpful ! She gave us an info package and keys - yes actual keys ! To both the hotel ( for when it was locked ) and the room. We stayed for a few days and moved rooms a few times. The king bed rooms were colourful and had both fridge and microwave. We got it for a really good rate. It's a no frills type place, but it's clean and quiet. Staff is friendly. If I was in the area I would stay here again.

Resulting in a 20-minute wait with me being the second person in line 2) Nobody onsite actually managing the pools '10pm-11pm adults only policy' that is has posted. Yeah, this was a joke. 3) Front desk lacking basic customer service skills. Lacking in effort to assist more than the status quo. Certainly not Marriott standard. Liked: 1) Hotel was clean 2) Housekeeping was exceptional and provided more than status quo service. Thank you for everything you do! 3) Overnight front desk ladies were pleasant and inviting. Overall, this property looks great on paper. When viewing from Marriott.com, it stands out. However, it does not do a good job of making sure all guests feel valued. It focuses on Higher tier members, and the rest do not matter as much. This hotel comes at a premium and is very outdated in room (especially shower/tub combo). This hotel was planned to be my go-to hotel, as I visit the area once every 2 months. That is unlikely at this point. I would recommend checking out the Civic Hotel nearby instead. They do a better job delivering Marriott's standards of service.
