Just finished shopping at Ralphs. There weren't too many people there and social distancing appeared adequate inside the store. This fell apart at the SELF-SERVICE checkouts. The space for the checkouts is small and crowded. Even with the plastic barriers separating the self check out machines we didn't really feel safe. There was NOT 6 feet space between the two lines of checkouts and then people from behind were squeezing past....this destroyed all semblance of social distancing. After touching the touch screen we asked the man that was obviously looking after this self service checkout where the hand sanitizer was. He told us there wasn't any. OK THIS IS NOW AN UNSAFE CHECKOUT. The man scurried around and found some and said," That will be five dollars a squirt!". We did not fine it amusing. Come on Ralph's get hand sanitizer at the self service check outs. Also you sanitizer wipes at the entrance door were all gobe and no one had replaced them. read more

KROGER FOODS.....THE NEW CORONA VIRUS STRAIN! On March 15th of this year I had to quit working because of Covid19. I decided that shopping for my groceries was somewhat dangerous for me. I am a 65ish, overweight male with C.O.P.D. Covid19 is out there looking for me right now! On 4/11/20 I decided to try having my groceries delivered. I went to the site for Ralph's grocery at 1733 East Palm Canyon Road in Palm Springs, CA. After navigating my grocery list it came to 150.16. You need to remember this. I only had 160.00 left in my checking account. I, like others, have not been working. As of right now I still have not received my stimulus money nor have I received my unemployment yet. So, I scheduled my delivery not knowing I would have to download the Instacart app. I finally got everything done. My delivery person kept texting me out of stock...substituting. I continually texted back "do not substitute until she got it. Then she started texting me "refunded"? After a while I realized what had happened. I looked at my checking account. Sure enough, Ralph's had withdrawn 150.16 from my account before they did any shopping. There was also another charge for 7.72 that was an automatic tip applied without my knowledge. When my groceries arrived I received my receipt. It was 90.08. That meant that Ralph's was holding 67.80 of my money for no reason. So, after giving a cash tip I asked when I would get my refund. She had no idea. After I washed my groceries, I made a phone call to Ralph's. They told me I would have to talk to Instacart. I called Instacart. There was a 3 hour wait time. Nope, not doing that. Then I checked complaints on Instacart. Wow! They had a lot of complaints about the same issue I was having. Then I realized my bank account showed Ralph's as the merchant that withdrew my money. Not Instacart. Ralph's should not have taken money out of my checking account until after the shopping was done. If some sort of security deposit to protect themselves from pranksters, insufficient funds or cancellations was needed, I am sure 25.00 would have sufficed. After the shopping was done Ralphs could withdraw the balance of what was owed for the groceries they had in stock. By doing it this way they would not withdraw more than they need and there by not make the customer suffer the results of their incompetence. We are in the middle of a global pandemic. Millions of Americans are unemployed with no financial reserves. People cannot pay their rent, electric bills etc. Everyone has been brutalized by the effects of the Corona Virus. What financial reserves they have are going to groceries. Free food lines are blocks long. People are afraid to go out for fear of dying. With that said how is it that Kroger Foods can be so unbelievably insensitive, unconscionable, thoughtless, reckless and incompetent. I am still waiting to find out if what they did is illegal. I say Kroger Foods because they own Ralph's and a lot of other grocery chains around this country. Ralph's managers would not go to the bathroom without Kroger's permission. They withdrew almost every dollar I had before they shopped for my groceries. What if I had medications on that grocery list. How do I buy that medication if Ralph's is out of stock? I cannot use my money because Ralph's has it in their bank account. What if that medication was for our children? What do we tell them? Kroger Foods need the money more than us???? They are brutalizing the American people after Covid19 has already brutalized us. I thought we were supposed to be in this together. Apparently, Kroger Foods does not feel that way. Ralph's eventually gave me back all my money including the tip after 4 days of holding on to it. I know that that does not sound like a long time. However, 4 days is too long to make our children wait for their medication. The money should not have been taken to begin with. I emailed Ralph's about my issue. No response. I emailed Instacart. No response. I emailed Kroger Food's in Cincinnati Ohio. No response. I filed a complaint with the Attorney General of California. No response yet. I notified a local T.V. station. They did respond. It was my feeling they felt that Ralph's actions were wrong. They said they would investigate it. I'm hoping I will see a news team at Ralph's in the future. I will be writing as many bad reviews about this as I can. I will be filing a complaint with the United States Attorney General. I will be making a You Tube Video soon and it will be called "KROGER FOODS......THE NEW CORONA VIRUS STRAIN". Please look for my video and help me make it go viral. I was happy to meet this Ralph's last night after I went to the gym. They sell some pretty decent wines by the half bottle, which floated my boat. They also had several roast chickens left, which I adore, and I picked on up for supper. Perfect meal after a long day. Very comforting. The checkout lines were long but they moved fast. This is a mid-scale Ralph's. I have seen slightly fancier, but I have seen way more ghetto. This one is somewhere right in the middle. Goldilocks would have been pleased. read more

I bought two gallons of milk and became deathly ill. I bought these two gallons on Sept 9, 2011. Upon inspection, it is found that the milk had EXPIRED back on Aug 22, 2011, meaning that the several gallons had sat on the shelf in their EXPIRED condition for over 18 days. When brought to the store manager's attention, Rick Cardona, no return phone call nor any resolution was offered. The policy in place concerning perishables rotation is an obvious failure. He quoted an existing policy about how they check it "every day!" Yeah, every day. read more

If a sloth and a snail got together and had a child, that child would work at this Ralph's Deli. I could not believe how long it took to make three sandwiches at this place. The delis at Ralph's always make great sandwiches, but the speed at which this one did so was painful. read more

Surly staff. If you go to the deli, expect indifference. With food on the conveyer belt the cashier, who seemed annoyed, ask what he could do for me. Oh, I don't know. As I walked out of the store I thought that maybe it was too busy. This is peak season in Palm Springs. But you know, they're the same if there's only two shoppers in the store. I love this store! If you want to find some great deals then get here early in the morning when they first open. You can score some great items at reduced prices. There is a Starbucks inside, so if you need a cup of joe to get you going your all set. They have a great wine selection here as well. read more

Really friendly cashiers (customer service is important to me), clean, convenient, open when you need it, and cheap prices. Wouldn't want to shop here all the time, but we buy what we need from Jensens and then head to Ralphs for some items that we don't need to spend a small fortune on. They are only .4 miles apart on the same road so easy to split the shopping up. read more

For the Ralph's /Instacart deliveries I would give zero stars if I could. Despite choosing a delivery window the day before, midway through that window they texted me saying it would actually arrive sometime in the hour AFTER my selected window. Ok. Next the shopped replaced something I had deselected the "no replacements" option for and then messaged saying the cancelled another item saying I didn't want a replacement item for sometime I DID indicate as replaceable. The message came through that my delivery was complete but nothing arrived. When I contacted the Instacart shopper they didn't reply. Now I've wasted three hours of my day waiting and nothing has arrived. Then I spent another 15 minutes with customer service for them to offer to refund my credit card. So I've spent a total over four hours of my time (including the actually shopping on the app) and I have no groceries. Back at square one. DONT USE RALPH'S or INSTACART! read more

great ralphs location. folks were very nice and all things were well spaced out. still had pre cut meats out late at night and were well stocked with aha! water. unfortunately no 12 packs of waterloo but I believe that's a company stocking policy and not this location's responsibility so I won't hold them accountable for that. all employees were respecting distancing guidelines and store seemed well ventilated. read more

ANOTHER GREAT REASON TO NOT EVER SHOP AT Ralph's at Smoketree.....I was in the store during the Covid outbreak.....the entrance and exit doors are clearly marked but there's nobody in the store policing these doors and people are going in and out doors as they please with no regards to the guidelines. Also, when I got to the checkout, I wasn't even through with my transaction and the customer behind me put all his items on the conveyor belt, stood practically right next to me, and the check..clueless..didn't say one word. When I called the store to speak to the manager, he pretty much made it my responsibility...."I should have told the customer something, I should have told the checker something"...I'm not there to do their job...that checker was just plain lazy, didn't care and that's pretty much the sentiment of all the employees I've dealt with at that location....I seldom go in that store and glad that I don't rely on it. I'll drive out of my way to avoid Ralph's....and their crappy attitude.. read more

With the lower overall average star rating, I assumed I was heading to a dive of a grocery store in the area. I was quite pleasantly surprised when I stepped inside one of the nicer, upscale grocery stores I've been to. The staff was very friendly, and helpful. Some items, I found to be on the high side, price wise... But, overall, seemed average... And if you are from out of area, you should get the Ralph's card at check out, for extra savings! read more

Normally, I love Ralph's. I'm at the Ralph's on Ramon & Sunrise at least every other day. But this one, despite being bigger and having the gourmet deli and more staff somehow always has less in stock and less people actually available to help and answer questions. I don't usually ever ask for anything, having worked in retail and food service, I never want to feel like "that pain in the butt" customer, but the fact is, when a customer is politely asking a simple question, it'd be nice if they weren't treated like a nuisance. Even so, my biggest complain is that the whole store always smells like fish. Maybe it's the poor choice of placement for the seafood department, but it makes me nauseated. It doesn't even smell good, it smells often overwhelmingly of fish gone slightly off, and I really don't understand how anyone can stand to work there. I don't know what to suggest to solve the smell problem, but I hope whoever the manager is considers finding a way to lessen it to a reasonable degree, or something. read more

Check out the nighttime cashier who's the male equivalent of Bon Qui Qui. When I complained about the woman letting her dog roam freely in the store, he told me it was "above his pay grade" and "that's a management issue." Well then, I ask, where's the manager? Turns out, the manager was in the check stand next to the cashier, but this cashier wasn't going to turn around and let the manager know I had an issue. This cashier also refuses to enter your phone number for the rewards program like EVERY OTHER cashier in the world. Instead, he stands there until you do it yourself. Prices aren't any better than anywhere else. Walmart saves me many dollars on things We NEED every day. Ralph's deli and hot food bar isn't all that. Expensive entrees with no flavor. Many older people depend on Ralph's for their meals. There is so much more that Ralph's could do to make their food more palatable. They keep taking away the smaller, easier to maneuver Baskarts. Very few Seniors need a full sized cart and have a hard time maneuvering in the narrow isles. Many forget that there are others who need to get by. Most cannot afford the high prices of food today and don't buy more than a few items. At least a 50-50 mix of small and large carts? I continue to go to Ralph's because of the convenience, but more and more, I go to Stater Brothers or Von's because they have a better and cheaper selection of meat and vegetables. Walmart - ALWAYS saves you money - Many times a dollar or more on many items. Ralph's is just not the same as it used to be. Also, they don't pay very well. Only the more Senior employees get a living wage. Make sure you find the Manager and let him know if any of this matters to you. read more

I go here often. You can always catch good sales since they do price mark downs on items that are close to their end time. The employees are very nice and personable. It's one of the busier Ralph's in the city so you must have patience when the lines get a little backed up, however that shouldn't stop you as the cashiers are as swift as possible to get people taken care of. read more

I can't believe the good reviews...a market should also accomodate people who want groceries, not just booze and munchies. I suppose this is how they make a profit....there are multiple aisles of high-priced "spirits". Produce is fine, meat/seafood is lacking, the deli is an abomination. It's not that they don't have staff...it's just that they are lazzzy...they either look the other way when you are waiting for service at the deli counter or are on another union break sipping lattes outside the front door (areas designed for customers). read more

Time for this store to actually get a maanger who knows what is going on. I shop there 4 nites a week in the eveing...no supervision, employees have no customer service training, cashiers and bag people constantly in conversations with each other while paying no attention to customers. So called "supervisors" spend all their time on the cash register and haven't got a clue what is going on. Out of stocks on lots of foods. Crowded aisles. High prices...very high lately. Sometimes very long lines while the supervisors are oblivious to it. I have never seen the store manager there in the evening. If it wasn't in a conventient location, I would NEVER go there again. The store is a joke among me and my neighbors. what a shame read more
