RALPH'S SMOKE TREE is my preferred grocery store in Palm Springs where I live , not just because its location is convenient , it's across the street. There is a Jensens store about 20 feet from me however I still prefer to shop at Ralph's BECAUSE OF THE STAFF. They make me feel I belong. Like it's my home and I'm welcome whatever time I arrive . They recognize me, many of them CALL ME MY NAME!! Admittedly, I'm an older guy , not moving too fast these days. The staff never makes me feel like I'm holding things up even when I arrive late like 11:30 pm which I do often . Instead they will help by ringing me up , bagging for me and often asking if I'd like help to my car. Specifically, I'd like to commend Victor, Rosalyn, Robert(stock), Michael and Mark. KUDOS TO THEM !! By the way , I'm of Sicilian decent. Many Sicilian men ( my father for one ) like to cook for family. Great grocery store! Full off choices, beautiful fruits and vegetables & salad stuff , lots of sales and reduced prices. Thanks for that. If you are a visitor the cashier will use a card at checkout for the reduced sale price. That's really nice. Loads of bottled drinks - many brands I'd not seen before. Big drinks - wine, beer, spiked sodas section. Premade: pizza, salad, Mac & cheese, great sandwiches. Loved the pepper Turkey & cheese Sandwich - fresh $4. Just please will somebody tell me why they can't slice cold cuts "very thin" in the deli?! I always get told that if they slice them any thinner they will be shredded which is just not the case. Maybe somebody from Boar's Head can come in and demonstrate how to do it right. If not, then remove the display case signs that offer the choices for thickness. Always end up tossing unused purchases because they're just not good. Maybe go over to Jersey Mike's and see how easy it is. I worked in a number of delis back in the day so I also know how easy it is. On top of that, the pre-sliced options are crazy thick as well. Not slamming the workers, they are always very nice. We were renting a house nearby so we stopped in for some snacks and groceries at Ralphs. The store is full of everything you might need so we got chips, dip, drinks, fruit, and more. You can definitely stock your Airbnb rental with food from Ralphs. They do charge you for bags, so bring your own. The aisles are pretty narrow and I had a tough time finding kombucha at first, but overall this was a really great, convenient stop for us while staying in the area. read more

Martin was kind, knowledgeable and while juggling multiple tasks provided amazing customer service to my mother and I. Martin is a manager, as am I. When I notice fellow managers graciously handing the demands from demanding customers I always love to give them a nod and hopefully remind others the level of patience one must have to successfully pull this off. Helpful service and a good selection of national newspapers available at 9:30 am, unlike some grocery stores in the area that sell out of papers by 7 am on a Sunday. The sushi is so fresh that you can see two sushi chefs making them ;) The selection of most foods such as cheeses and seafood is wider than most local and chain grocers. As some other reviewers had said, the aisles are a bit narrow, but the majority of customers and staff are considerate of your space and not causing any inconvenience. It's a real hit-or-miss proposition when you walk into this Ralph's. On the one hand, they have some nice departments --bakery, deli, fresh produce are all top-notch, and while the pharmacy isn't great at least they have one, which is convenient. the downsides mostly revolve around the staff, the service, the ratio of migraines to smiles the experience of shopping there inspires. An example: the couple tying up the attendant at self-checkout with their 8:15 am wine purchase (alcohol sales prohibited at self-checkout, of course, per state law) seemed to be having a pleasant time. I, perhaps, received whatever irritation this employee felt about handling yhe alcohol sale, I mean how else do you explain raising your voice at a customer ro declare "I have all this (the self-checkout lines) to attend to, I can't be answering your questions!" WHEN I ASKED HOW TO MAKE THEIR DIGITAL COUPONS WORK. Admittedly, I was already exasperated at this point, having asked 2 other employees already -- both of whom said that it was their "area" But, hey, they're open until 1:00 am! So, really, take advantage of the good stuff, try not to have questions for the surly, incompetent staff, and you'll be OK. read more

Ralphs grocery store used to be a wonderful place to shop pretty much all of them. Out of the big nationwide chain stores I think that Ralphs has better pricing than Vons and some of the other stores that are out there, but that's it. That's the only thing that's good about them anymore. So over the last two years, the employees at Ralphs have become so rude and impersonal. It's disgusting and this store is a good example of that.. at 6:50 PM on August 5 at the store on E. Palm Canyon Dr. in Palm Springs. I made several purchases and I went up to the cash desk and asked the manager if I could possibly buy five dollars worth of quarters from them and of course she said no. But she should've stopped there. She shouldn't have gone on saying there's a nationwide shortage of quarters when there's not because that's so easily looked up As of July 2023, according to the federal reserve, there is no shortage of quarters. Don't lie to your customers, And what's with the attitude with a lot of the other employees that work in this store you work at Ralph's it's a union job it does not give you license to be rude and impersonal to your customers. Your job is customer service try to be friendly try to enjoy going to work. Try not to take out your bad attitude on your customers. If you guys hate your life working for Kroger, quit its easy dont pass on your negative attitude to your customers and your coworkers. On a recent visit to the area this became the go to store for anything that was needed or forgotten. The store was very clean and well kept. The shelves were well stocked and the staff was friendly. In all I made three trips during the week for various items and everyone of those trips went smoothly. The store layout is very easy to navigate. The produce selection was typical but all the items stocked were fresh and fairly priced. Each time the check out experience went very smoothly given the ample number of checkers to accommodate the shoppers. Parking was abundant and plentiful close to the store. Would certainly have no hesitation or reservation about using this as the go to grocery store for any future visits. Also worth noting is the fact that this location os a strip mall that's all in all well kept with a variety of dining and quaint shopping options. read more

There is a manager working the late shift here that is extremely rude. When we were attempting to make our purchases via the self- service cashier station, (because we had no choice due to no actual cashier working otherwise), we encountered an error. This manager, (wish I would have made a note her name but she was very pretty, long dark hair, and in her late twenties to early thirties, and did not wear a uniform of any kind), without a greeting of any kind or even identifying herself as a Ralph's employee, rudely pushed her way between us and our self- service station in order to fix the error. Of course, we were glad she came to help, but the manner in which did so was unbelievably rude. Unfortunately we encountered a few more errors before we were through and the same woman came to help each time. I tried to break through her cold demeanor by thanking her, but her attitude continued to be condescending and out-right mean! I can't believe she is a manager. Her supervisor really needs to know that she is in dire of need of acquiring some "people" skills. I doubt that Ralph's wants its employees treating its customers this way. Also, this store has very high prices. Although they may carry a few more gourmet items than the average market, it's not worth shopping here, especially if you are will be treated like dirt while spending more money. read more

We went to this Ralphs several times during my stay. I found the store easy to get around and to find products. The bakery also had a good selection of cakes when we went there. We ended up buying a chocolate cake, though mixed, for my friends birthday. The store followed covid protocols, with easily marked spaces on the ground. There is also self check out area if you don't need to check out with a cashier. Overall and easy purchasing experience. read more

I enjoy shopping at this location. Most of the checkers are very courteous and friendly. Stephanie at Starbucks is top notch. The deli however is not managed well at all. What I've noticed is none of the food in their hot deli case is ever marked with a timestamp. Tonight I asked the guy behind the counter in the deli when the chicken came out and he said he just had some come out but he couldn't tell me which ones. Some of that chicken had obviously been in there all day. I managed to find one that wasn't overcooked from the heat lamps. The package was marked savory but there wasn't any seasoning on it whatsoever. This has been a problem with this store for quite some time. Poorly managed and not following procedures. I believe the health department requires you to mark all hot deli items. I continue to shop there because it's convenient to where I live. Two stars are for the deli. Writing an update because after shopping here a few times, I've tried to stay away if shopping for produce. It seems like each time I buy fresh items from this location the items don't look so "fresh." I bought a bundle of spinach the other day and the leaves were already wilted, some of the fruit I've purchased in the past looked old. It never seems to get better every time I visit. read more

I often go to Ralph's in the Smoketree area whenever I work in Palm Springs. I really like that adorable store, all neat and tidy. However, on Thursday, when an elderly customer accidentally, yes, of course it was a horrid accident, but a complete accident none the less, knocked over a champagne display and all the champagne bottles came crashing down, a few of the employees had a terrible and disgruntled look on their faces when they actually had to "move', you know, like "work", and clean it up. No one came to her aid, no one asked if she was ok, at least while I was there, all they did was make her feel more horrible than she already felt. She apologized at least ten times, but I did not see anyone even going over to talk to her. Just a bunch of glancing-at-each-other angry looks among the employees. . Sorry you all had to actually "move and work and actually clean something up"!. One question for all of you, have you never made a mistake in your life? Very disappointed at your employees. Someone needs to conduct a refresher course "seminar" on how to be a tad more courteous. I know some of the customers can be horrid, as I, too, work at the receiving end of customers, but this was a terrible accident caused by an elderly woman. If they treated my mother that way, I would have stepped in and said something. I should have anyway. I felt so bad for her. read more

It's a grocery store that has a wide selection of organic and gluten-free options if you need that. It's very clean and the aisles are wide and there's lots of opportunities to get food that you may want to cook for yourself they also have a wonderful area that has pre-cooked meals that you can get to go as well as a wonderful deli area with a good selection of higher end meats and cheeses. The staff are very accommodating and try to help you find the items that you may be looking for. The fresh produce was also plentiful with lots of different selections and very well maintained. I took the leap! The review!!!! Four words. This store is TERRIBLE. Bare shelves, again. The staff are still as unfriendly as ever. The aisles can barely fit two carts and the best thing about this Ralph's is that Trader Joe's is just down the road (10 min away). Did I mention they don't accept Apple Pay or Tap? Okay, this is specifically a review of Ralph's meat dept. Something's very strange. I've been all over this great country of ours. All four corners and everywhere in between. Never in my dreams would I think that the best value for decent beef would be found in Palm Springs. I'm not talking about grass fed, dry aged, wagu. I'm talking about good old American USDA. If you're buying beef in a supermarket, usually the best you can get is USDA choice, and mostly it's select. Some specialty markets, of course, will offer specialty beef that's not USDA certified. It's pretty rare (haw) to find USDA prime. The Ralphs in S. Palm Springs carries USDA Prime beef. They have filet, ribeye and NY strip for $25, $19, $19 per lb., respectively. That's a pretty good price. But that's not what makes this Ralphs meat dept. so epic. They constantly have sales. I've seen prime NY strip for $12.99/lb. Choice for $3.75. Even better, sometimes, at the end of a sale, they'll unload the last of it for insane prices. I've bought USDA prime NY strip for $8.99/lb!!!!!!1111one!1one!!1! It's nuts! The only thing I can think of is that Palm Springs is a strange mix of the uber rich that loves outstanding beef and millennial soy boys that hate it. read more

Ralphs Deli in both locations are the most customer unfriendly. I buy deli meats weekly and it has become stressful just thinking about going anymore. Most employees walk right past you and and making eye contact is impossible. I'm a patient person but they try my patience. The reason I'm leaving this review today is that I've had enough. I went in for some meat at the Palm Cyn location today and was once again treated like I was a nuisance by just asking for a pound of ham, the man who helped me actually threw the ham on the on the cutter and was banging things while slicing it. If this didn't happen many many times I wouldn't have written this. So much for customer service. The rest of the non deli employees in both locations are great, very friendly and helpful, the deli employees are not. read more

Usually I shop at Vons but sometimes do go to Ralphs. When I do, it's almost always the Sunrise/Ramon location. That store is just brighter and cleaner and has wider aisles than this Smoketree location. I was at the hardware store in the plaza, so I decided to use this location. At checkout, apparently a customer in front of me had a problem. Just as I came up to the checkout, they were moving another customer who just purchasing only alcohol over to another line. As I thought about as I waited, I figured out he must have already been waiting for some time for them to move him. After I have everything on the belt and stand there waiting and waiting and waiting, the cashier is sending people coming up behind me to other registers. I keep watching those people, one with a very large order, finished, paid and on their way and this is despite them having to wait in lines because the cashier was directing people away from her register. If she had only told me before I unloaded my cart, I too could have been finished and my on my way. I had too much to easily move, but at some point someone should have said, you've waited long enough, let's move you and open another register so you don't have to wait in line again. Finally, I left the stuff sitting on the counter and left. In my 57 years on this earth, I have never done that before. That should say something about how long I waited today. read more

Hated to drive the extra few miles to VON's, but with the 8 cold options they had of Sav Blanc, it was worth the drive. And your night manager at 8:30 on 4/4 needs a demotion!
