When I arrived she and her husband were having a very genial conversation with the owner Dave at the outdoor seating area. The vineyard is clearing some land and the entrance drive, at the time of my visit, was strewn with downed timber and a large dirt parking area at the end. There is a sign on the street pointing you into the driveway. Once the introductions were over Dave told us about the vineyards he has and the one's he plans to plant. Where he gets grapes from and how he produces his wine. We walked in to the converted barn which is beautifully decorated with a large bar in the center and comfortable seating areas around the perimeter. They have a rack of bottles ready to be sold and a gift box display. The day we went there were four or five wines available. Once a type has sold out, it's done for the season so those who know and like Dave's wine know when to head over to make their purchases. Some offerings are ready in Spring while others are not available until Autumn. I ended up purchasing two bottles each of three of the available wines. The Riesling is a bit dry and not too sweet. Lovely. The Cab had a nice 'full mouth' feel to it and a clean finish. I have been disappointed by other RI wine producers and to be honest I didn't have high expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised. We also had an opportunity to meet Dave's wife and children. This is truly a family business. With each new arrival, Dave made a point to say hello, get their name, tell them his and pour them a glass. We sampled each of the available wines but others came in just to enjoy a glass. The atmosphere was such that everyone was chatty with each other even though we were strangers. It made for a very enjoyable visit. This vineyard is in the woods and the drive up is just beautiful along winding back roads. On a beautiful, sunny Saturday, it made for a very enjoyable day. If I could suggest just one thing it would be to offer a small snack. This may be a sticky wicket as they are a wine producer, not a restaurant and I'm sure that brings up a whole other set of laws. During our visit his 'intern' showed up with a spinach and pepperoni calzone which he offered all around. It was just delightful and I was very happy to have something to eat after sampling several wines. Maybe next time I'll just bring along a snack to share. I hope that's OK.

"Walk in as strangers, leave as friends."…read more If that's not a saying that makes you want to head there now, then I don't know what is LOL! Obviously, there is more to the new renovated location of La Cantina than this saying but I will say I was pretty impressed when I saw it and knew I had to add it to my review. Let's just say it is pretty accurate. We did leave as friends since we made a few at the bar and then some. Just saying! La Cantina winery in Franklin, MA used to be a small wine bar that offered wine tasting flights and minimal food. BUT, now it is in a stunning new location (not far from their old stomping grounds). Fun Fact: It used to be a Mechanic garage. Well, wait until you see how it has turned from fixing cars to wine making and tasting. YOU HAVE GOT TO COME HERE! Parking is easy with plenty of spots. They have a lot of room at their gorgeous bar, but they also have high tops and tables for families or a large group. And, they host events here too; birthday parties, bridal showers, and anything in between, this place is it. I actually want to hold one of my milestone birthday parties here but well keep the number a secret for now. Service: Alana was our bartender and she was wonderful. Always asking us what we needed and how were doing. You don't get this upscale service any where else. And, when I wanted another sample of something she gave it to me without a fuss. Always with a smile on her face, she was the best. Wine: They have an excellent wine menu to choose from and they offer flights for about $25 pp. Flights are the best way to try multiple wines. I personally loved most of the red wines with Petit Sirah being my favorite. My husband loved their Barbera! I did sample their Sauv Blanc too which was nice but it was too cold to have a full pour. Food: Their menu is great with a ton of options from charcuterie, to tapas and some entrees. I will say some of their items can get expensive but definitely worth it. We started with a few cheeses and prosciutto. Then we ordered one of their popular pizzas called La Cantina. Everything was fresh, made in house with their beautiful pizza oven right smack in the middle of the bar. You have got to see this thing, its huge! Overall: If I could give this place 10 stars I would. We had the best time and we can't wait to go back. Franklin is not far from where we live but still a good 30 minute drive and also not far from the Wrentham outlets. We didn't have to make a reservation for a Sunday afternoon but I bet Saturdays can get pretty busy. I just loved everything about this wine bar and I know you will too! Cheers~

He is the dodgiest businessman I've ever encountered, to the point where I feel obligated to write my first Yelp review. I do not like sharing negative information but this treatment pushed me to share my experience so that it won't happen to anyone else. To reserve a tour, you first have to pay a deposit at the time of booking (fair enough) but then you have to pay in full for each person ($70/pp) the week before the tour. The owner, Joe, also encouraged me to pay for gratuity for each person ahead of the tour but at least I didn't do that piece on my credit card. So before even setting foot on this tour, I paid $840 for a party of 12. As luck would have it, our tour date was the weekend of Winter Storm Riley, that super windy Nor'easter/ Bombogenesis! We had friends joining from out of town who couldn't make it due to canceled flights and power outages. I got in touch with Joe the morning of our tour and told him 3 people couldn't join us (which later turned into 4 ppl), could he please help us out so we didn't have to pay in full for everyone who wasn't able to attend due to extreme weather and got the response of "Hey no problem! I will look when I get home... I'm already down here setting up.. so just come have a good time! :-)" Foolishly, I thought this meant he would help us out. I was wrong. Although Joe was at the restaurants before, during and after our tour, and had them rearrange the place settings to be set-up for our smaller group, he claimed there was nothing he could do about the extra $280 I had paid. I talked about this with him at the end of the tour (he awkwardly showed up at our last stop and took over for our much more personable tour guide) and he kept telling me that he would look into when he got home on his computer but there was nothing he could do now. While we were standing in the restaurant. Read: I don't want you to stiff us on the tip. (I did still tip our tour guide.) So the next day I followed up with him and asked for an update on the extra $280 I paid and was told he was working with the restaurants to see if he could get a refund for what he paid. When I reminded him he had told me this would be "no problem", he ended the email by saying "So I'm working with the locations to see if I can retrieve money back so I need some time. I promise I will do my best to help you out." I wrote to him and asked for another update yesterday, 7 days after our tour, before I wrote any reviews. No response. After not hearing back from Joe, who had told me he was "working with the locations", I decided to call one of the locations. Guess what? Joe had never contacted them. The owner was very sorry to hear this and said of course he would have helped out. He even kindly offered us free food the next time we go in since, as he said, we were getting "a sh!tty deal". The restaurants were great. Once caught in this lie, Joe told me there was nothing he could do about a refund but he offered me another wine tour. Riiiiight. A few ways Joe could have made this less painful of an experience was (1) not to lie repeatedly about helping me out with a refund. Why string me along? (2) given us something for the $280 I paid. If nothing else, give us the wine that I had pre-paid for, or the small bites at the restaurants. Just as a good business gesture of "Hey I'm sorry so many friends couldn't make it due to the insane weather and you have to eat the costs...here's an extra _ANYTHING_ for your trouble!" He had enough time to tell the restaurants our group size was smaller, just not enough to return some of the extra money he pocketed, so we paid the extra money for absolutely nothing. For $840 we got: 3 stops at restaurants basically next door to each other (Area Four, Lion's Tail, Fuji) At Area Four: 1 bottle of red, 1 bottle of white (retails for $19.99) poured amongst 9 people (incl tour guide) plus two small cheese flatbreads At Lion's Tail: 1 bottle of red and 1 bottle of white poured amongst 9 and two meat/cheese boards (several vegetarians on our tour but you don't get asked about the food that's been pre-arranged) At Fuji: 1 bottle of wine and 1 of champagne poured amongst 10 people (owner, Joe, jumped in here) plus edamame and spicy tuna rolls for the table (again, many didn't eat these) In summary, we paid $840 for 6 bottles of wine plus nibbles from the host kitchens that many wouldn't eat, and got lied to by the owner for a week until he gave up the lie and told me he has a no refund policy. It was painful. Please don't make the same mistake!

With that being said,…read moreyou can imagine my glee when Truro was offering pours of cranberry wine on a late November afternoon during our visit. Wine in hand, we picked up just about every item in the gift shop and dreamt of a checked bag to stow it all away in. We meandered out to the tent and cozied around a fire pit to savor our glasses of wine. Back to my dreams of a checked bag: If I'd brought one, it'd be full of bottles of that exact cranberry wine and just enough bubble wrap to ensure safe transport. Our view was faintly lit by dainty string lights cheering up the out-of-season rows of grapes running up the hillside. My mom and I decided this would be a stunning wedding venue and got to pretend planning. I could've sat around that fire, sipping wine and chatting with mi familia, until I was old and gray. Man, do I feel like a friggin' dingus! Driving up to the location of this lovely establishment…read moreproved to be nothing shy of slightly misguided. I blame Google Maps for this (not the restaurant) because it had me turn directly into the EXIT lane! Yeah. By the time I realized my mistake, it was too late. Couldn't do a three point turn. Couldn't just reverse out of there and try again. So, I sheepishly drove my car at a snail's pace up the wrong way whilst veering as far to the right side as I could. Passed like 3 cars. Yep. I'll likely beat myself up over that one for years to come. Anyways, welcome to my Prime at Sky Meadow review! :D So, wifey and I share the same birth month. Every year, we choose a bougie restaurant to have what we call a combined birthday dinner together. Tired of always going to Ruth's Chris every other year, we decided to see what the locale had to offer. One thing led to another and...we ended up booking a res at Prime. Walking in, we're immediately greeted with an aura of elegance. The entrance consists of a grand standing lobby featuring a self playing piano, adding to the opulent atmosphere. We were able to get a table within mere seconds after they verified our reservation. The dining room LOOKS nice and has a great view, from what I understand (it was dark that evening, so we couldn't enjoy the view). Too bad I can't say the same for the acoustics. Out of the many fine dining restaurants I've visited in my life, Prime may possibly be one of the noisiest. I think it's because the tables are too close together. Which means you can almost hear entire conversations at the table next to yours. It's why I never travel in public without at least one pair of earbuds. Misophoniacs UNITE!! XD Now, I'd like to give a shout out to the waitress who took care of us that evening (I really wish I didn't suck with names so much). Service was stellar, overall. After receiving our drinks, we ordered the following.. Appetizers: Got the crab cake and clam chowder. Now, I just need to mention...our waitress had us at, "it's pure crab, no breadcrumbs". Both our eyes lit up as I said, "Yup. We'll take it!". Guys. I gotta tell ya....not a lot of restaurants can make a crab cake properly. Yet, Prime nails it! This thing was f#*!ing delicious! I dare say it may possibly be the greatest crab cake one can buy anywhere in the state of NH. And I will stand by that claim until or unless I discover better elsewhere. The clam chowder is in a league of its own. I often say how the very best chowders are the ones you don't have to add any additional seasoning to. This one totally slaps! Creamy, savory, made with REAL fresh clams. The cheesy bread they give on the side pairs brilliantly with the chowder as well. Solid 10 out of 10 for both apps! Mains: Wifey and I stuck with our favorites, getting a filet and ribeye, respectively. Describing the taste of these should be brief, since they seem to season all their steaks the same way. While the temperatures were absolutely spot-on, they could have used a bit more seasoning for our preference. However, we didn't see the need to send them back and just sprinkled some salt over the steak instead. Ch'yeah! Forgot to mention...this is one of the few fine dining restaurants that actually leaves the salt and pepper shakers on the table. Inconceivable! :o Got the lobster mac & cheese as the sharable side. And, uh....I think we were totally spoiled by RC's version of this. Because what Prime does here is....unique. The cheese (which I STILL cannot identify yet) was so mild, I truly believe the chefs were going for a subtle flavor. If done properly, it can actually give a delectable impression to the palate. Few extra dashes of salt, the whole thing was quite tasty! My one complaint here though: lobster meat was lacking. Normally, the ratio should be something like 70/30, macaroni's favor. This version was more like...85/15. Side's an 8 out of 10; steaks would both be a 9 out of 10. Dessert: Last, we have the peanut butter pie. I decided to take this one home, since I already felt like a pregnant whale by this point. Simply put, this pie was nothing short of sublime. Rock hard chocolate frosting aside, this was a 9 out of 10 for me. It's worth noting an 18% service fee is automatically charged to your total bill. So, take that into account when tipping. I'm not totally sure why they do this regardless of party size. Nevertheless, we made sure to close the gap, so to speak, on the gratuity by adding in an additional 7%. Service was just that good! Whilst I'd love to be able to give this place a perfect score, I honestly can't when considering the noisy ambiance of the dining area and lack of lobster portioning in their mac & cheese. That's not to say, however, that Prime is anything short of an amazing dining experience. I'm giving Prime at Sky Meadow 4 stunningly sweet chocolate peanut butter pies that melt in your mouth, not on your fork, out of 5.

The standout menu items were Miso Sea Bass, Ribeye, and mac and cheese. That Sea Bass was beyond amazing. Aside from the food our waitress was amazing, she was the queen at small talk. She had a wonderful attitude and was on top of our drink orders and brought the food out in a timely manner. The manager Felix was also such a delight. You can tell he loves his job and people! Made the graduates feel extra special especially with the comped desserts. (Thank you for remembering the nut allergy.) Such a lovely experience. Expect to pay around $75 - $125 depending on the main course and drinks. Thankful this is the location we choose to have a celebration dinner. Highly recommend for people visiting out of town and locals looking for a nice meal. Overall STRONG 5/5 stars!

Each column of shelves is a particular varietal. Each shelf has a card that shows the information, the scores, the price, as well as information about the wine, what it pairs with and how long the bottle will be good for ("drink now" "enjoy for next 3 years" etc) We agree with Megan - we were not looked down upon for our ignorance with Pinot Noirs, and bought several that were recommended to us. Raphael is easy to talk to and he is passionate about wine, so he is more than happy to share his knowledge to help expand your understanding of wines. When we paid, we got a card for each bottle that allows us to write our own tasting notes, in addition to all of the information that the cards on the shelves lists (pairings, tasting notes, timeline etc) Also, we opted to give our email address, which will allow us to track our purchases and our "wine portfolio" and we are working towards a store credit (based on our purchases). Also - the website is robust - it allows you to search for wines using a variety of choices - by food you want to consume with it, by price, by region, by varietal. All in all, go in and speak with them - you will be hooked !
