Beer prices aren't the cheapest around but they are so nice you kind of forget that. I took one star off because the parking situation is not very good. You basically have to back into oncoming traffic to leave the place and I took another star off because they don't have those individual beef jerky sticks that are in a jar anymore that the kids loved so much. Outside of that this is probably the place to go to buy booze and munchies in Scituate.

The true heart, worthy of a fifth star, is the employee who was so incredibly warm and inviting, offering background on the shop, a little local biz history, and even providing a free mini Taza bar "because the owner lives around the corner." A little Scituate storytelling and complimentary chocolate pretty much caps a booze buying night like nothing else.

The store was stocked nicely with most wines and spirits you would expect in a local packie. In addition to the usual, entering this store was like walking into a seaside gift shop. The liquor displays were extremely attractive laid out in wooden and glass shelving. Glassware was available as were mixers and a few small gifts. The clerk reminded me of one in a seaside store you see on tv. If your ever in Scituate do yourself a favor and stop in. I give Harborside Wine and Spirits a Solid 4 Stars.

A neighbor recommended their house made dips, one is feta/cream cheese, the other bruschetta/tomatoes, and both are great. My lovely wife said of the bruschetta, it's the perfect thing to always have in the house in case someone drops in! I'd say it's a specialty food shop that has a little of everything. Prepared sides, full deli, tons of sandwich options, cooler of fresh local meats, curated desserts they ship in, great wine and beer selection, and more. Have been in several times now to supplement dinners with their sides. I didn't realize I had been talking to the owner, Mary, and she explained how they came to select the dessert vendor... and we've been back three times to try as many desserts as possible! My wife and kids love the mud pie (so skip that - more for us), tiramisu is my favorite. She explained their selection process and care extended to everything on the shelves and in the coolers! Spot checked the wines and several of our favorites are there, but they'll order whatever you like. Great service, and love that's it 5-minutes from home!

They are exceptional individuals and I have the best time when dealing with them! You can judge a lot about a business by the way that they treat their vendors. You imagine that most businesses provide good customer service, but I would argue that the true test of great business people are how they treat the people that they don't necessarily have to "be nice to" (like vendors). In this regard, Local Vines and Gourmet Wine Shop is absolutely one of my most favorite to work with because of their courteousness, intelligence, and speedy response to my requests! I have zero doubt that they are even better with their customers which means that you will have a stellar time each and every time you visit!
