I cannot say enough good things about Westport Rivers Vineyard & Winery. From the moment you arrive…read moreon their stunning property, you understand why this place is truly special. The Russell family has been crafting wine here since 1982, and that generational passion shows in every single pour. This isn't some corporate operation -- it's a fifth-generation family of vintners tending 80 acres of vineyard on a 435-acre farm , and you feel that love and care the moment you step on the grounds. The wines themselves are world-class. Their champagne-style sparkling wines are rated in the top 100 in the world and have even been served at the White House -- twice. And yet somehow they remain approachable and unpretentious. Their flagship Brut RJR offers compelling aromas of apples and toast, with fine tiny bubbles, crisp citrus, and a lengthy, satisfying finish -- at a price point that makes you feel like you've discovered a secret. The Atlantic Northeast's cool maritime climate and the farm's rich soils layered with granite over glacial outwash give the wines a gorgeous balance of luscious fruit and bright acidity that you simply won't find anywhere else. There are no wines on the planet that pair better with local New England seafood. The outdoor patio with vineyard views is absolutely beautiful , and the Friday evening Sunset Concert series makes this one of the most charming date-night or weekend destinations on the South Coast. Their winemaking philosophy uses ancient, traditional methods including those of Champagne and Burgundy -- minimal processing, maximum patience. You taste the difference. If you haven't visited Westport Rivers yet, you're missing one of Massachusetts' true treasures. Five stars isn't enough.

There were some teachers and a lot of older couples. You couldn't blame them as it was a perfect winery day. They had a food truck with lots of items on site. We didn't get food, but anyone who had some, looked like they were very pleased. The woman who helped us was very nice and helpful. I hadn't been here in years, but it was just as lovely, if even nicer than when I was there last.

We were saddened to learn that Coastal Vineyard will no longer be offering wine tastings! We loved…read morespending time with Bob and tasting all of his different hummus dips, crostini's and chocolates that he would make from scratch! He was quite the cook! He always had great recipes to give out that paired well with certain wines! The wines are very good, I was always particularly fond of the Sassy sisters blends... The grounds are lovely and it always made for a nice visit. You can however still purchase the wines at the local Farmer's Markets.

Pros - Lovely setting - Large portfolio of wine to try, so there should be something you like - spreads and crostini to sample during your tasting Cons - The smallest pours I have ever seen at a tasting and I have been to a LOT of tastings. You barely get enough wine to taste it. - The gentleman giving the tasting gave off an air of being better than us. I don't say that lightly. I felt talked down to a few times. I expected it in Napa and didn't get it. Instead I got it in Dartmouth. - When people showed up in the middle of our tasting he insisting on starting them where we were in the tasting, which was red wines and told him he would finish with the whites for them. If you have ever been to a tasting, this is never done. Your palate will get blown out by the heavy reds and won't be able to taste the nuances of the whites. I did walk out with a few bottles of wine, so it wasn't a complete loss. Perhaps if you were to go and someone else were doing the tastings the experience would be better?

Great ambiance, music, friendly staff and the best part was the vineyard and winery tour by the owner himself Nick. Nick explained well the process of how they make wine, showed up close the fermentation tanks, barrels and distillation setup. We have more appreciation of wine after undertaking the process. Nasketucket makes clean, honest wine. Definitely found a good wine, "summer wind" to bring back to Kansas city for the BBQ! Visit them and see for yourself.

The converted barn is a tasting room, wine bar, merch shop, and a small event venue rolled up into one. A cute and tastefully done space that feel open and airy. Earth tone and rustic, but modern feel. The barn opens in the back to an outside seating area with a fire place. Must be nice in the colder spring or fall day with some wine and charcuterie. The samples of their own locally made wine - white and red, and wine themed cocktails are a bit pricey, but ok for what you get. I guess $32 a bottle is reasonable these days. Wine felt young, tough. We enjoyed them great deal, however. At least I applaud them for trying to make decent wine in a challenging New England climate. The staff are very knowledgeable about the products and very friendly. They do not have full service restaurant, but often have a food truck. This time, a pizza food truck was there. We will definitely come back here again. Added to our list of favorite local vineyard.
